An Epidemic of Police Violence?

An Epidemic of Police Violence?

If you didn’t know better, you would think that we are experiencing an epidemic of police violence against black men. And, strangely, Minnesota seems to be epicenter of the phenomenon.

The Star Tribune keeps a running toll of deaths resulting from police encounters in Minnesota. For the period 2000 to 2021, the total is 207, of whom 54% were white and 27% were black. Of course, suspect behavior has a lot to do with the likelihood of a fatal encounter with law enforcement. This is evident from the fact that only 3% of those killed by police have been women.

WARMINGTON: Accused released on bail two weeks after allegedly trying to kill Toronto cop

When Premier Doug Ford asked people to stay at home, it likely didn’t occur to many it would also apply to a man accused of trying to kill a Toronto cop.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, on whether to grant bail for a man charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of a Toronto cop, the court must decide between an accused’s health and safety and that of the public.

Teen girls accused of killing an Uber Eats driver in D.C. ‘reach plea deal ensuring they will not be held past the age of 21 nor be placed in a prison facility’

Two girls, ages 13 and 15, who were charged with the murder and carjacking of a Pakistani immigrant killed last month while working at his job delivering food in Washington, DC, have reportedly reached a plea deal with prosecutors.

Mohammad Anwar, 66, died when police said the girls, armed with a taser, sped off in his car as he clung to the driver’s side with the door open and crashed seconds later just outside the ballpark of the Washington Nationals.

On Monday, the teens reportedly reached the plea deal with prosecutors that would ensure they will not be held past the age of 21 nor be placed in a prison facility.

Here’s what we know about the reported federal investigation into Matt Gaetz

Suspicious hair.

Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz said he is being investigated for alleged criminal sexual activity with a minor and claims a former Department of Justice official is behind a $25 million plot to extort him and his family.

The 38-year-old congressman is being eyed as part of a broader investigation into Joel Greenberg, a political ally who was indicted in 2020 on charges including sex trafficking of a minor and financially supporting people in exchange for sex, at least one of whom was an underage girl, the New York Times reported.

“I was not a target but a subject of an investigation regarding sexual conduct with women,” Gaetz said.

Appearing on Zoom from inside one of his two lawyers’ Toronto homes, Cameron Gardiner listened closely as Madam Justice Michelle Fuerst told the 59-year-old Collingwood man that after re-assessing the case against Gardiner and the reasonable prospect of conviction, both charges on the indictment were being withdrawn at the request of the Crown.

A minute later, the father of two emerged from the house and declared his freedom, wiping away tears and hugging his lawyers.

Her Name Is Lucia Whalen Bremer: 13-Year-Old White Girl Murdered in Broad Daylight in Richmond, VA Suburb By Black Male

We are not supposed to notice.

Those who do are immediately vilified as “racist.”

Meanwhile, we are supposed to celebrate every trivial achievement an individual who happened to be melanin-enhanced who was the first individual of color to accomplish a feat long ago established not just a white individual, but replicated again and again and again by white people.

But our society is said to be dominated by white privilege, structural inequality, implicit bias, and the historical legacy of slavery, where the daunting reminder of roads, schools, and streets (not to mention monuments) named after or honoring Confederate soldiers unites in suppressing little black boys and girls.

But for a little white girl to be murdered by a black individual is hardly news worthy of covering or immediately cause for condemnation of all black people in this affair (as we saw the fentanyl overdose of George Floyd instantly create in castigating all white people for the death of this “innocent” black individual).

In fact, it’s hardly news locally where it happened.

Police say investigation into North Vancouver stabbing spree in early stages, no motive established …

…Bandaogo, Tansey said, has no fixed address. He has ties to Quebec and a criminal history there including violent crimes. She said he had outstanding warrants in Quebec and Winnipeg.

Tansey was asked if radicalization was a factor and she said there was no indication it was. She said mental health is always examined as a factor. “Everything is being assessed at this point.”

Nuttin. Just the usual “mental illness”. We do seem to import a lot of that. Expect less information to be released from now on.
