Two people have died and up to another 25 left injured after gunmen fired indiscriminately into a crowd gathered for a concert in south Florida in the early hours of this morning.
Just after midnight three people armed with assault rifles and handguns pulled up to the El Mula Banquet Hall in Northwest Miami-Dade in a white SUV and began shooting.
The banquet hall in the Hialeah area had been rented out for the concert and some concert-goers were outside when the gunmen stepped out the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle and gunfire erupted.

South Carolina: new law makes inmates choose firing squad or electric chair
The governor of South Carolina, Henry McMaster, has quietly signed into law a bill that requires inmates on death row to choose between a firing squad or the electric chair if lethal injection is not available.
The law, signed without ceremony on Friday, comes amid a shortage of lethal injection drugs that has affected the state’s ability to implement capital punishment. South Carolina has not executed any prisoners since 2011.
Prisoners have chosen death by legal injection, leading to the halt in executions. The new law will put prisoners back in line to be killed by the state.

People interviewed by Toronto homicide detectives in the early days of the Barry and Honey Sherman murder probe have recently handed over new information “previously unknown to investigators,” according to police documents filed in court.
The people — police have not identified them or said what they revealed — provided the information to detectives after the release of Sherman police files last December in response to a Toronto Star challenge of sealing orders on police search warrant documents.
Meanwhile, detectives have made a second international request for information they believe will help them solve the 2017 killing of the billionaire couple. As was the case with a previous international request last year, police refuse to say which country they have sought help from.

The members of the NYPD grew so disenchanted with their jobs in 2020 that over 5,300 uniformed officers either retired or quit, an astonishing 75% increase over the year before, amounting to 15% of the total number of officers on the force. The impetus for the officers quitting seemed to be the death of George Floyd and the unrest that followed; between May 25 and June 24, 2020, a whopping 272 officers left the force in one month.
