‘Pornography is a problem’: Smith defends new rules for Alberta school libraries

Alberta’s premier says “pornography is a problem for young adults” in remarks defending her government’s move to remove sexually explicit content from school library shelves this fall.

Danielle Smith was responding to criticism received via text on her province-wide phone-in radio program on Saturday that a lack of education funding and overcrowded classrooms were more important issues than library content.

FUREY: Clean up the TDSB this summer before kids return to class

As Toronto public school students enjoy a summer full of camps, play and sports, let’s hope the system that they return to in September undergoes significant change.

Public education in Ontario has become a mess. That is why it is welcome news that the provincial government has appointed supervisors to take over a number of school boards across the province, including the Toronto District School Board (TDSB)

School trustees with TDSB told what they can and can’t do (it’s mostly can’t) after Ford government takes over the board

Trustees with Toronto’s public school board have been given the do’s and the don’ts.

They can forward emails from constituents to the director of education and redirect calls to the board’s main line.

They cannot issue updates to their community; access administrative offices; use their board email account to communicate with constituents; or participate in any events as trustees, which includes engaging with school staff and parent councils.

That’s likely still too much for the racist commie groomers at the TDSB.

‘Let them do their dirty work’: School trustees react as Ford government takes over four boards, including Toronto public and Catholic, over finances

The province has seized control of four school boards, including Toronto public and Catholic, accusing them of financial mismanagement — an unprecedented crackdown that drew both criticism but also praise from trustees who’ve been stripped of their powers.

With the Dufferin-Peel Catholic board “at the brink of bankruptcy” and unlikely to make payroll later this summer, Education Minister Paul Calandra said he is also sending a supervisor there, as well as to Ottawa’s public board.

Hate Crime: Leaked docs show Ontario school staff are being trained to believe the term ‘family’ is rooted in white supremacy

Now showing more anti white bullshit

The Waterloo Regional District School Board (WRDSB) has apparently approved training material for staff that alleges the term “family” is racist.

According to internal documents published June 4 by independent media outlet Juno News, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation is telling staff at the Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary School that the term “family” is rooted in white supremacy.

Can you imagine the outrage in our media if this slur were leveled against Muslims or Jews?

I hope parents launch a hate crime complaint.

From School Renaming Rules to School Board Takeovers: What Ontario’s New Education Bill Is About

Last week, Ontario Education Minister Paul Calandra introduced a bill that would give him sweeping powers to intervene when a school board has, in his words, “lost its way.” One key change would require school boards to get approval from the minister before renaming an existing school—a move that follows the Toronto District School Board’s decision earlier this year to rename three schools named after historical Canadian figures.

The main goal of the bill, called Bill 33 or the “Supporting Children and Students Act, 2025,” is to expand government oversight of school boards and allow faster intervention when concerns arise, particularly around financial mismanagement.

Doug Ford accused of ‘Trump-style politics’ with legislation that allows sweeping new powers over the education sector

Education Minister Paul Calandra will tighten control over Ontario’s school boards, have the power to rein in locally elected trustees and return community police officers to classrooms in sweeping new legislation critics dub a massive “power grab.”

Triggered in part by an outcry over a $45,000 art-shopping trip to Italy by Brantford-area Catholic trustees, Calandra said the proposed bill allows him to more quickly investigate or take over supervision of school boards that have “gone off the rails, either financially or on other matters that are important to students, parents and teachers.”

This may prove one of the few “Conservative” things Ford has done and of course the left is up in arms as this legislation threatens their access to the public teat. That automatically qualifies it as “Trumpian”.

‘I Want Politics Out of Schools’: Ontario Bill to Give Education Minister More Control Over School Boards

Ontario Education Minister Paul Calandra has introduced legislation expanding the minister’s authority over school boards, citing concerns about boards misusing public funds, shifting focus away from student achievement, and turning schools into “a political battle zone.”

Bill 33, called the “Supporting Children and Students Act, 2025,” would allow the minister to step in more quickly when there are concerns over a school board’s practices. Measures include directing an investigation or putting a school board under supervision, Calandra said at a May 29 press conference.

The minister said the province has seen school boards “wasting” resources on issues that divert focus from academic achievement, including what he described as “endless discussions” about changing school names. He cited one school board that spent more than $100,000 renaming three schools while dealing with potential teacher layoffs.

Jesse Kline: Keffiyeh-wearing kindergarten teachers create hostile environment at Toronto school

Problems with political activism and antisemitism seeping into Canadian schools came to the fore last fall after Toronto students were taken to a rally against environmental contamination on an Indigenous reserve that quickly descended into an anti-Israel hate-fest. But this was only the tip of the iceberg: our schools have become cesspools of Jew-hatred and woke identity politics, yet most of the time, the public never hears about it.

Blackboard Jungle 2025: What’s Driving the Epidemic of School Violence in Canada?

Things have changed at schools I guess. Looks like they’re passing a shiv.

“No place for a reasoned discussion: When newly-minted high school teacher “Cassie” tried to lead her English and Art class in a discussion about race and oppression, a black student in her classroom called her a “gook” and then attacked her with a large pair of art scissors, leaving her with several “big, dark” bruises and a severe case of PTSD.”

It’s a mystery to me.

Matthew Lau: Reading, writing and revolution in Ontario schools

Judging by a teachers’ union magazine, the keys to education are not math, grammar or history but climate-change activism

The miserable state of Canada’s K-12 public education, well documented by international tests showing steadily declining scores for two decades, already has many parents deeply concerned. Their equanimity will not be improved by the Spring 2025 issue of ETFO Voice, published by the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario. It expresses no concern that 50 per cent of Grade 6 students fail to meet provincial standards in math and contains no plans for improving academic achievement. Instead, the ETFO seems singularly focused on moulding Ontario’s public-school children into a generation of Greta Thunbergs.

Ford could fix this but won’t.

The Pashas of Public School

It’s a state religion.
The priests are teachers’ unions, bureaucrats, education academics, and “equity consultants.” It doesn’t even pretend to be ideologically neutral anymore: Children are taught gender ideology starting in the fifth grade, but may graduate unable to read at grade level. They will learn that America is evil, but never even hear about the Federalist Papers. Canadian students won’t recognize a Bible story, but will be fluent in climate activism and “decolonization.” Heretics are punished by the Holy Office of Human Resources.

President Trump Signs Sweeping School Choice Executive Order

President Donald Trump signed a sweeping executive order on Wednesday backing school choice and empowering parents in education.

The order states that it is the policy of the Trump administration to “support parents in choosing and directing the upbringing and education of their children,” and it directs the Department of Education to prioritize school choice programs through discretionary grants.

Sadly most Canadian children will have to attend schools run by perverted communists.

B.C. fires Victoria School Board over ban on police in schools

British Columbia’s education minister has fired the entire Victoria School Board in a dispute over a safety plan where the board barred police from schools except in emergencies.

Minister Lisa Beare says student safety is at risk in the district and she has appointed a lone trustee to oversee the district.

“Students are at the centre of every decision I make, and ultimately their safety in this school district is at risk. Our government has given this board multiple opportunities to act, and they have not delivered,” Beare said in a release.
