COP28 draft deal fails to include fossil fuel ‘phaseout’

The hosts of the COP28 summit in Dubai presented a draft deal on Monday that stopped short of calling for the complete “phaseout” of carbon-emitting fossil fuels — the main drivers of climate change — that many countries have been demanding.

The draft deal proposed options that would reduce the production and consumption of coal, oil and natural gas.

At the same time, the writers of the draft put forward by the United Arab Emirates, which holds the COP28 presidency, had removed any mention of a “phaseout” that had been included in a previous draft.

Another Member Of Trudeau’s Green Slush Fund Is Under Investigation

The Canadian governments Sustainable Development Technology Fund, often referred to as a “Trudeau’s green slush fund,” is under fire yet again today.

Member of Parliament Michael Barrett this morning on Twitter has revealed that yet another member of the board of directors, Guy Ouimet, is under investigation following allegations of a conflict of interest. The investigation follows the resignation of Leah Lawrence, President and CEO of the agency, whom stepped down after it was revealed that SDTC chair Annette Verschuren had received funding from the agency for her own organization. Verschuren has also stepped down from her role with the organization.

Rockefeller’s Dream: Global Governance Through ‘Climate Change’

Like the left’s “long march through the institutions,” David Rockefeller played the long game.

David Rockefeller, grandson of oil magnate John D. and longtime head of the Chase Manhattan Bank, must be laughing his head off right now, for his global government dream might come into existence through one of the most ridiculous and unbelievable scams in history, called “climate change.”

UN climate summit serving gourmet burgers, BBQ as it calls for Americans to stop eating meat

The ongoing United Nations COP28 climate summit in Dubai is offering a wide variety of gourmet food options from vendors who serve beef, even as it prepares a report that is expected to call for the West to reduce consumption of beef.

According to the summit’s online portal, its food offerings include “juicy beef,” “slabs of succulent meat,” smoked wagyu burgers, Philly cheesesteaks and “melt-in-your-mouth BBQ” in addition to African street BBQ, fast casual Mexican fare and an Asian option that has a “touch of French flair.” The revelation comes as the U.N. faces criticism for preparing a first-of-its-kind report that is expected to be published at the summit and call for lower meat consumption.

Trudeau government picks your pocket for $16M donation to new global climate damage fund

After nations agreed to a landmark deal to create a global climate damage fund on the first day of climate talks at COP28, Canada pledged its own support on Friday and joined the list of developed countries to back the new deal.

Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault announced an initial commitment of $16 million toward the loss and damage fund.

“We think this is a significant step forward,” Guilbeault said to reporters shortly after the opening of the Canadian pavilion at COP28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Raymond J. de Souza: The climate farce in the air-conditioned desert

DUBAI, U.A.E. — Arabia is on a roll. Qatar hosted the 2022 World Cup and the Saudis will do the honours in 2034. Once the world agrees to play football in the scorching desert, a gargantuan climate jamboree is nothing. COP28 — the annual United Nations climate festival — opens Thursday with a gala dinner, the carbon footprint of which might rival the daily production of this week’s newest coal-fired plant in China.

King Charles III will wax grandiloquent in his opening speech on Friday. It will be old crown for the king: as Prince of Wales, he did the same in Paris in 2015 and Glasgow in 2021. Yet this time, the audience will be bigger than ever, with some 70,000 delegates descending upon Dubai for a week of high-living in what locals are referring to as “the happiest place on earth.”

Deal on global climate damages likely to be struck Thursday at COP28

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Countries are poised to seal a hard-fought agreement on Thursday for the creation of an international fund to help communities rebuild from climate-driven calamities, giving the U.N. climate talks a bit of a win on their opening day.

The hosts of the summit, known as COP28, released a draft agreement on Wednesday that would accept wholesale the recommendations a handful of countries adopted earlier this month. It includes a provision, demanded by the United States, that says all contributions to the fund are voluntary.

Jesse Kline: Canada is not a ‘leader’ in green tech. That’s Trudeau disinformation

For years we’ve been told that the federal government’s singular push to reduce carbon emissions will not come at the expense of the economy, that a glut of new green jobs will fill the void of displaced oil workers and manufacturers of internal-combustion engines. The reality is never quite so rosy.

The West is turning away from COP28’s green agenda

The UN’s COP28 climate conference has always been more political than scientific. But now more than ever, the green agenda looks to be in jeopardy.

Whatever you may read in the establishment press, the world is turning away from draconian climate policies. Already developing countries are increasingly open about expanding the use of fossil fuels. Indeed, the two rising world powers, China and India, as well as wannabes like Iran and Russia, all plan to burn more fossil fuels, including coal in the coming years.

COP28: UAE planned to use climate talks to make oil deals

The United Arab Emirates planned to use its role as the host of UN climate talks as an opportunity to strike oil and gas deals, the BBC has learned.

Leaked briefing documents reveal plans to discuss fossil fuel deals with 15 nations.

The UN body responsible for the COP28 summit told the BBC hosts were expected to act without bias or self-interest.

The UAE team did not deny using COP28 meetings for business talks, and said “private meetings are private”.

I’m sure some of the UN boys have had their palms greased. Which Canadians attended?
