Federal government unveils “assault-style” firearm buy-back program plans

Banff-Airdrie MP Blake Richards questioned the firearm buy-back program as it failed to not only take into account the perspective of rural residents, but also lacked clarity on the tangible safety it will provide and the full cost of the program.

“The idea that somehow taking guns out of the hands of law-abiding firearms owners will somehow make a difference in crime is absolutely a ludicrous suggestion to make,” Richards said. “Criminals are the ones that are using guns and crimes, they don’t obtain their guns legally— They smuggle them, they get them in other illegal fashions. This will do nothing to address crime.”

Breaking: Oklahoma Senate Advances Law That Would Nullify Biden’s Gun Control Executive Orders

Oklahoma’s Senate is slated to vote on a bill that would make the state a 2nd Amendment sanctuary. The bill would nullify Biden’s Executive Orders relating to firearms and ensure guns are a right in the state, as the Constitution says they are. The bill is titled the “Second Amendment Sanctuary State Act.”

New Gun Control Laws Proposed by Federal Liberals Receives Support of The Majority in BC (65%) and Alberta (63%), But Fewer (41%) Think It Will Be Effective in Reducing Gun Violence

Following the announcement last week by the federal Liberal Party about new gun control legislation and gun buyback program, a new Insights West poll has found that the majority of Western Canadian residents support the new legislation despite the fact that far fewer believe it will be effective in reducing gun violence in our country.

Virtue-signalling Liberals strike out on preventing violent crime

Violent crime is a serious problem. It requires serious solutions. Unfortunately, Canadians will not get them from our current government. In less than a year, the Trudeau government has taken three swings at violent crime and missed every time. Their “solutions” will cost billions and may increase Canadians’ exposure to violent crime.

Trudeau government sets sights on legal gunowners—while ignoring criminals

Trudeau government sets sights on legal gunowners—while ignoring criminals

Last week, the Trudeau government introduced Bill C-21, which would dramatically expand police powers in Canada. Prime Minister Trudeau claims the legislation will combat gun violence and keep communities safe, but none of the bill’s provisions directly address gun violence or violent crime.

Instead, the bill demonizes legal firearms owners, who are not the problem, invents a variety of new administrative crimes and creates a “red flag” law that allows police to search and seize property (with a court order) on the grounds that a potentially dangerous individual has a firearm. Of course, the “red flag” provision is not new. Such a provision already exists and has for 20 years. Concerned individuals can dial 911 or medical doctors can call the Chief Firearms Officer.

Biden Gun Control Plan Would ‘Criminalize’ up to 105 Million People: Gun-rights Group

A gun-rights organization said that President Joe Biden’s gun control proposal would potentially make about 105 million law-abiding gun owners into criminals.

“While we can agree that there are several ‘common sense’ and long overdue changes needed to our nation’s gun laws, we firmly believe that the path forward should be focused on supporting and protecting responsible, law-abiding Americans—not criminalizing and punishing them,” the U.S. Concealed Carry Association said in a letter to Biden this week.

Executive Orders V. Guns: How The Second Amendment May Be In Peril

It is no secret that the democrats want to strip Americans of their Second Amendment right.

And though it hasn’t happened thus far, Joe Biden apparently isn’t ruling out using executive orders to crackdown on the right to bear arms.

The topic was discussed during a White House press briefing on Tuesday, in response to a statement that Biden put out last week calling to ban semi-automatic firearms, along with other gun control measures.

GOLDSTEIN: Trudeau knows handgun ban won’t work, Blair knows what will

The problem with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s proposed handgun ban is that it won’t work and his government knows it.

A 2018 engagement paper by Public Safety Canada, “Reducing Violent Crime: A Dialogue on Handguns and Assault Weapons,” explained why it will be ineffective:

“The vast majority of owners of handguns and of other firearms in Canada lawfully abide by requirements, and most gun crimes are not committed with legally-owned firearms…”
