BBC admits Gazan woman who ‘starved to death’ had cancer

The BBC has admitted that a Gazan woman it claimed had died of malnutrition was being treated for cancer.

Over the weekend, the broadcaster reported that the 20-year-old, identified as Marah Abu Zuhri, died after she was evacuated to Italy for treatment while “severely emaciated”.

However, the Israeli military unit in charge of aid, known as the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories, claimed shortly afterwards that she had been suffering from from leukaemia.

Hamas source says group agrees to latest Gaza ceasefire proposal

Hamas has agreed to the latest proposal from regional mediators for a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal with Israel, a source in the Palestinian armed group has told the BBC.

The proposal from Egypt and Qatar is said to be based on a framework put forward by US envoy Steve Witkoff in June.

It would see Hamas free around half of the 50 remaining Israeli hostages – 20 of whom are believed to be alive – in two batches during an initial 60-day truce. There would also be negotiations on a permanent ceasefire.

Terry Newman: Keffiyeh-draped anti-Israel protesters target Jews at Saint John festival

Saint John’s International Culturefest, according to the festival’s website, is supposed to be “a vibrant celebration of multiculturalism, community, and connection.” But it erupted into chaos on Aug. 2, when demonstrators gathered around an Israel booth, engaging in what some members of the Jewish community have described as threatening and intimidating behaviour culminating in an alleged assault and two arrests. No statement was made by the committee organizing the festival or the local police. The story was largely ignored by local media.

The Palestinian Authority’s Human ‘Slaughterhouse’

France, Canada, Australia, the UK and other Western countries that recently pledged to recognize a Palestinian state have said that their decision is “predicated” on commitments from the Palestinian Authority (PA) to undergo critical governance reforms, as well as excluding the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist group from a future Palestinian government.

None of these countries, however, has demanded that the PA halt its human rights violations against its own people. Ending financial and administrative corruption and excluding Hamas from governance is pointless as long as the PA continues to crack down on its political rivals and impose severe restrictions on freedom of speech.

Entertainment industry leaders criticize TIFF’s handling of October 7 film in open letter

More than 1,000 entertainment leaders have signed an open letter released by the non-profit entertainment industry organization Creative Community For Peace (CCFP) critiquing how the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) handled the film, The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue.

The letter is a response to TIFF’s disinviting the film but then offering to work with the filmmakers, following a public backlash. TIFF later announced it would be an official festival selection.

And now back to our usual craziness … Trump Is Hitler!

Here We Go Again – The West’s Palestinian State Fantasy

majority of Western leaders clearly refuse to exercise integrity when it concerns the Palestinian issue. Only leaders completely sold out to extremist ideologies would persist in pushing a proposal so far detached from reality and so harmful to many people — starting with the atrociously governed Palestinians — that it is almost beyond comprehension. Perhaps this phenomena is best described as a “cognitive bias” that can “lead to a person interpreting all new information as supporting their preconception.”

Michael A. Sachs: Some Jewish Canadians planning exit strategies to more welcoming U.S.

TULSA, OKLAHOMA — Over the past few weeks, my inbox has been flooded with frightened and heartbreaking messages from Canadian Jews. Many are scared and looking for ways out of Canada, telling deeply personal stories of fear, marginalization, and hopelessness.

I had shared in these pages my family’s reasons for choosing to leave Canada — Vancouver, specifically — to pursue opportunities in the U.S., and obviously hit a nerve with National Post readers

Arrest made in Montreal after death threat to Jewish man caught on video

A man has been arrested and will remain in custody after allegedly hurling abuse at a group of people in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough, including death threats, caught on video, towards a Jewish man.

…. The incident comes just a week after a separate case in which a 23-year-old man was charged with assaulting a Jewish father in front of his children in Montreal’s Parc-Extension neighbourhood. In another incident, a woman was arrested after throwing liquid that ‘smelled like urine’ at Jewish participants at the Montreal pride parade last Sunday.

They won’t name the Perp.

Hamas Has Left Netanyahu with No Option but to Occupy Gaza

The international condemnation Israel has received after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his plan to assume control of Gaza overlooks one critical fact. Netanyahu has no option other than to embark on this course of military action because Hamas’s terrorist leadership has demonstrated unequivocally it has no interest in agreeing to a ceasefire in Gaza.

Former justice minister Irwin Cotler calls on Israel to end war, starvation in Gaza

Former Liberal justice minister Irwin Cotler has joined thousands of Jews calling on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the war and starvation in Gaza.

The longtime human rights activist is a staunch supporter of Israel and has faced death threats from Iran over his support for the Jewish state and democracy worldwide. He has signed an open letter saying Netanyahu is jeopardizing peace at home and abroad.

“The policies and rhetoric of the government you lead are doing lasting damage to Israel, its standing in the world and the prospects of secure peace for all Israelis and Palestinians,” the letter reads.

My bet is Netanyahu will remain in power at least until an Israeli made peace is accomplished.

I doubt Israel is much concerned with Cotler’s effort to remain on progressive invite lists.

41 per cent of Canadians support Mark Carney’s move to recognize Palestinian state: poll

A plurality of Canadians believe Canada’s move to recognize a Palestinian state is a good idea, while nearly one-third of Canadians are against it, according to recent polling.

The polling by Leger for Postmedia found that 41 per cent of poll respondents support Prime Minister Mark Carney’s decision to recognize a state of Palestine. In late July, Carney’s office announced that if certain conditions were met, Canada would recognize such a state at the United Nations General Assembly in September.

It was an online survey.

New West Bank settlement will ‘bury idea of Palestinian state’

Israel has announced it will build an enormous settlement in the West Bank to effectively “bury the idea of a Palestinian state”.

About 3,300 homes would built between Jerusalem and the Jordan border under the plans announced on Thursday, in direct response to British and French plans to recognise an independent Palestine.

Critics fear the “E1” project will effectively cut the West Bank in two, preventing a contiguous body of land that could form the basis of a viable Palestinian state.

Another Al-Jazeera Reporter Was a Hamas Terrorist; Al-Jazeera Should Be Designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization

Anas al-Sharif, the Palestinian “journalist” who was killed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) this week, never concealed his affiliation with the Iran-backed Hamas terror group. Before and after his death, photos of al-Sharif continually socializing with top Hamas leaders appeared on social media platforms. Al-Sharif was also known for his public support for terrorism against Israel.

The television network al-Sharif worked for, Al-Jazeera (Arabic), has always served as the official mouthpiece of the Muslim Brotherhood organization and its affiliates, including Hamas.
