Leslie Roberts: Pride can either stand up to pro-Palestinian hijackers or lose funding

Another Pride parade, another protest. But this time, the protestors won the day. On Sunday, Queers for Palestine managed to shut down the Ottawa Pride parade by blocking its path on Wellington Street, in front of Parliament Hill. They claim to have done so “with the permission” of the parade’s grand marshal. Capital Pride responded by cancelling the rest of the parade — and the fact they did so says everything you need to know about where Pride has drifted.

Jesse Kline: Samidoun wants the West to arm Hamas. Why is it still a non-profit?

“Why is a listed terrorist group still operating a Canadian non-profit?”

That’s the question being posed by B’nai Brith Canada in a new campaign aimed at pressuring the federal government to dissolve the Vancouver-based Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, which still enjoys non-profit status despite being listed as a terrorist organization last fall.

Qatar’s Muslim Scholars: Nothing More Important Than Killing Israelis

More than 150 prominent Muslim scholars from 50 countries are currently attending a conference in Istanbul, Turkey, to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip in the aftermath of the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led massacre of Israelis and foreign nationals. At least 20 Muslim citizens of Israel were among 1,200 people murdered by Hamas terrorists and ordinary Palestinians that day. Thousands more were injured, and 251 Israelis and foreign nationals were kidnapped and taken to the Gaza Strip, where 50 — dead and alive — are still held captive.

Aviva Klompas: There are no good choices for Israel. Only unbearable ones

For too many around the world, Israel’s war with Hamas is viewed through a lens of moral simplicity: Enough. End the fighting. Bring relief to the people of Gaza. Accept a ceasefire — any ceasefire. Do the “right” thing.

Forget that 50 hostages remain in Gaza. Forget that Hamas vows to repeat October 7. Forget that this week marks one year since six hostages were murdered in captivity — killed in cold blood after yet another round of failed negotiations.

KLEIN: Politicians silent as Jewish women and children terrorized

Recently in the Winnipeg Sun, guest columnist Lawrence Pinsky KC described a scene that should never occur in a Canadian city. At Folklorama’s Israel Pavilion, Shalom Square, held at the Jewish Community Centre, a mob harassed Jewish community members and their guests. They shouted vile sexualized slurs at women and girls, screamed threats like “Hamas is coming for you,” and played recordings of gunshots and screaming children.

Barbara Kay: Abolish the Ontario College of Teachers

The Ontario public school network is a systemically polluted ecosystem. This isn’t my opinion. The evidence is in, and it stinks to high heaven.

A recent survey on antisemitism in three Ontario school boards, submitted by then federal envoy for combatting antisemitism Deborah Lyons tallied 781 antisemitic incidents in Ontario K-12 schools, most of which occurred in metropolitan Toronto. Many involved Nazi tropes (“Heil Hitler,” “Hitler was right”). One in six were teacher-initiated or involved school-sponsored activities.

In a particularly chilling Oct 2024 incident, an Ottawa six-year-old was told by her teacher that, since one of her parents is Jewish, she is only “half human.” In Nazi Germany, treatment of such children “vacillated between persecution, semi-toleration, and racial reclassification.” Sound familiar?

Canada joins call for Israel to halt settlement plan meant to crush Palestinian statehood

Canada and 21 other countries issued a joint statement on Thursday calling for the immediate halt of a recently approved Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank.

On Wednesday, the Israeli government gave its final approval of a 3,500 apartment expansion plan in a tract of land east of Jerusalem known as E1. The development has been under consideration for more than two decades, but was frozen due to U.S. pressure during previous administrations.

Surprise surprise … Wanna bet MP’s are on Qatar’s payroll?

Do Not Be Fooled By Hamas’s ‘Positive Response’

The Iran-backed Palestinian terror group Hamas said earlier this week that it has delivered a “positive response” to mediators on the latest US proposal for a Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal with Israel. The group’s leaders, however, continue to talk about the need to continue the “armed struggle” against Israel. For Hamas, the “armed struggle” means launching more terror attacks against Israel and murdering as many Jews as possible. Hamas leaders, in addition, continue to stress that they refuse to lay down their weapons.

GOLDSTEIN: Critics say Netanyahu doesn’t want war with Hamas to end

The greatest threat to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s political future isn’t Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran or criticism by Prime Minister Mark Carney and his support for a Palestinian state.

Rather, it’s hundreds of past and present Israeli military and security officials who publicly oppose his plan to re-occupy Gaza City, now in its early stage, along with a growing portion of the Israeli public, including the families of many Israeli hostages.

I don’t think they’ll change coaches in the middle of a winning streak.

No reason for Israel to care much for “world” opinion any longer being damned no matter what they do.

Buchenwald can refuse entry to people wearing Palestinian keffiyeh, German court rules

Buchenwald memorial entrance – To Each His Own

A German court has ruled that a Nazi concentration camp memorial has the right to refuse entry to those wearing the Palestinian keffiyeh scarf.

The higher administrative court in the eastern state of Thuringia on Wednesday rejected a request from a woman to be allowed entry to the Buchenwald concentration camp memorial while wearing a keffiyeh.

According to local media reports, the woman was turned away when she attempted to attend a commemorative event marking the 80th anniversary of the camp’s liberation in April while wearing the scarf.

American Families of Terror Victims Sue UNRWA

The IDF discovered documents in Gaza that show the overlap between UNRWA and Hamas. UNRWA staff took part in the October 7, 2023 atrocities, and several thousand UNRWA employees turn out to be Hamas operatives. UNRWA buildings have been used by Hamas to store weapons, and Hamas has even built one of its data centers under UNRWA’s Gaza headquarters. Now, on the basis of this evidence, American families of terror victims of Hamas are suing UNRWA for its support of the terror group.

Ottawa-based Calian GNSS is pausing shipments of GPS antennas destined for Elbit, an Israeli defence firm, after shipping some last weekend, the company told CBC News in a statement.

Israel calls up 60,000 reservists ahead of planned Gaza City offensive

The Israeli military says it is calling up about 60,000 reservists ahead of a planned ground offensive to capture and occupy all of Gaza City.

A military official said the reservists would report for duty in September and that most of the troops mobilised for the offensive would be active-duty personnel.

They added that troops were already operating in the Zeitoun and Jabalia areas as part of the preparations for the plan, which Defence Minister Israel Katz approved on Tuesday and will be put to the security cabinet later this week.
