Anti-Semitism ‘normalised in middle-class Britain’

Anti-Semitism has become normalised in middle-class Britain, a Government-backed report has found.

The review, co-authored by Lord Mann, the Government’s anti-Semitism adviser, and Dame Penny Mordaunt, the former defence secretary, warned that Jewish people in the UK were suffering increasing prejudice “in our professions, cultural life [and] public services” and felt they were “tolerated rather than being respected”.

The report, commissioned by the Board of Deputies of British Jews, the country’s largest Jewish community organisation, found anti-Semitism to be pervasive in the NHS, at universities and in the arts.

Canada urged to follow suit with U.S. sanctions on contentious UN rapporteur

OTTAWA — Canadian observers are applauding the U.S. move to sanction a controversial UN rapporteur, while one Jewish affairs group is calling on Canada to completely divest itself from her.

Francesca Albanese, the UN’s Human Rights Council’s Special Rapporteur for West Bank and Gaza, was sanctioned by the U.S. State Department on Wednesday — with Secretary of State Marco Rubio calling out her “illegitimate and shameful efforts” to convince the International Criminal Court to take action against American and Israeli officials, companies and executives.

Envoy says Canada is coming closer to recognizing Palestinian statehood

OTTAWA — The Palestinian ambassador to Canada says she feels Ottawa is on the brink of officially recognizing statehood for her people, as she also takes note of tougher language from Canada on Israel’s actions in Gaza.

“Accountability means everything to the Palestinian people. That’s all we are looking for,” said Mona Abuamara, who is at the end of her four-year term as the chief representative of the Palestinian General Delegation to Canada.

Do Not Rely on Egypt or Any Arab State to Bring Security to Gaza

Since the Hamas-Israel war began on October 7, 2023, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have discovered an estimated 90 tunnels crossing under the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. The tunnels have been used by Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups to smuggle rockets and weapons into the Gaza Strip. According to Israeli military sources, there may be additional tunnels that have not been discovered. There are also concerns that the tunnels could be used to smuggle terrorists into Gaza.

The smuggling, which increased after Hamas’s violent and brutal takeover of the Gaza Strip in 2007, took place under the watchful eyes of Egypt, if not with its willing assistance.

Sexual violence was rife on October 7, say new witnesses

Some were awoken in their beds in kibbutzim by shooting. Others were dancing at dawn at a music festival in the Negev desert. Among the approximately 1,200 people slaughtered in the most brutal attack on Israel in its history were found the bodies of young women stripped and tied to trees and poles, shot through their genitals and in the head.

Sexual violence was “widespread and systematic” during the October 7 attack, rape and gang rape occurring in at least six different locations, according to a report using testimony never heard before now. But most victims were “permanently silenced”, either murdered during the assaults or left too traumatised to talk. About 1,200 people were killed in the attack.

It’s what devout Muslims do.

Barbara Kay: How Islamists hijacked leftist oppression narratives

In March 2008, revelations surfaced of past anti-American and antisemitic rhetoric by Barack Obama’s longtime pastor and friend Rev. Jeremiah Wright, including Wright’s accusation that the U.S.’s own terrorism helped motivate al-Qaida’s 9/11 attack. Knowing his political credibility depended on it, Obama abruptly severed ties with Wright. Post-inauguration, Wright blamed “them Jews” for Obama’s continuing frostiness.

Seventeen years on, Zohran Mamdani, newly-elected Democratic contender for New York’s upcoming mayoralty race, appears to have (correctly) calculated that public allyship with an imam who lionizes Hamas, reviles Jews and Christians, and encourages anti-American pedagogy would not be a political liability in America’s most Jewish city.

Muslim charity boss delivered sermon on killing Jews six days after Oct 7

The charity regulator has issued an Islamic charity with an official warning and banned one of its trustees after he was accused of encouraging violence against Jews after the Oct 7 Hamas attack.

Harun Abdur Rashid Holmes, a leading figure with Nottingham Islam Information Point (NIIP), has been barred from acting as a charity trustee for three years after delivering a sermon in which he stated that Muslims would kill Jews until they “hide behind a rock”.

A New Palestinian Offer for Peace With Israel

The idea of a two-state solution for Israel and the Palestinians has never seemed more futile than in the months since Oct. 7, 2023. But maybe that opens the door to a new way of achieving peace.

“We want cooperation with Israel,” says Sheikh Wadee’ al-Jaabari, also known as Abu Sanad, from his ceremonial tent in Hebron, the West Bank’s largest city located south of Jerusalem. “We want coexistence.” The leader of Hebron’s most influential clan has said such things before, as did his father. But this time is different. Sheikh Jaabari and four other leading Hebron sheikhs have signed a letter pledging peace and full recognition of Israel as a Jewish state. Their plan is for Hebron to break out of the Palestinian Authority, establish an emirate of its own, and join the Abraham Accords.

From JPost – ‘Post’ just met with top Hebron Sheikh who wants to pull out of PA

The South Hebron Hills seem ancient and as unchanging as ever, but massive change may be in the wind.

In the aftermath of the Wall Street Journal’s blockbuster disclosure early Sunday morning that half a dozen major Palestinian sheikhs from the Hebron area, all led by Sheikh Wadee’ al-Jaabari (also known as Abu Sanad), are ready to break off from the Palestinian Authority and sign a new Abraham Accords-style deal with Israel as the “Emirates of Hebron,” The Jerusalem Post can now disclose having recently met with Jabari at his ceremonial tent.

Lots going on in the comments, caution being first among equals.

A little good news …

Palestinians celebrate Jew Killing

Palestinian students say visa delays have stranded them despite admission to Canadian schools

With two of their peers killed last year, more than 70 Palestinian students are raising the alarm over stalled immigration to Canada despite admissions and scholarships at universities across the country, stranding them in Gaza or nearby Egypt and Jordan as they wait out a war.

“The situation in Gaza is getting hard day by day, they are targeting many crowded and random places,” said Meera, an industrial engineering student who has been accepted to the University of Regina on scholarships to pursue a master’s degree, but is stuck waiting in Gaza City, where she’s unable to submit a completed visa application to the federal Immigration Department.

“Like so many other students, I become trapped with my dreams,” she told CBC News in an interview.

Australian PM vows ‘full force of law’ after arson attack at synagogue

Australia’s prime minister has promised to take strong action following an apparent arson attack on a synagogue in Melbourne.

Police are looking for a man who poured liquid on the synagogue’s front door before setting it on fire on Friday night. Some 20 people having dinner inside at the time were evacuated without any injuries.

Police are also trying to determine if the incident is linked to an attack against a Jewish-owned restaurant in the city on the same night.

‘I think I hit one. Hell yeah boy!’ US aid workers filmed shooting at Gazans

Armed US contractors at one of Gaza’s new aid distribution hubs appeared to fire at Palestinians before celebrating, leaked footage has suggested.

Video seems to have shown machine gun fire in the vicinity of civilians seeking aid, with an American voice shouting: “I think you got one.”

Another voice adds: “Hell, yeah, boy!”

Not sure this proves anything. We’ll see.

Qatar Must Not Be Allowed to Play Any Role in Gaza

According to a recent report, the Trump administration is floating the idea of having four Arab states administer the Gaza Strip as part of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Iran-backed Palestinian terror group Hamas. On June 26, the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported:

“Gaza hostilities will conclude within two weeks, ending conditions will encompass four Arab nations (including Egypt and the United Arab Emirates) to administer the Gaza Strip, replacing the murderous Hamas terrorist organization.”

Although the newspaper did not name the two other Arab countries that would take part in administering the Gaza Strip, there is speculation in the Arab world that one of them is Qatar, which has expressed readiness to help rebuild Gaza after the Hamas-Israel war ends.

Abdelhaleem’s post comes following a new American ceasefire proposal, which Hamas is currently considering.

York Region paramedic shouldn’t have been fired over Israel comments: union, law experts

The Centre for Free Expression is calling for the reinstatement of a York Region paramedic whose union says she was fired over a social media post criticizing Israel’s military operations in the Middle East.

An open letter from James L. Turk, the director of the centre at Toronto Metropolitan University, and a group of lawyers and professors, expresses “deep concern” that the dismissal of Katherine Grzejszczak violates her Charter right to freedom of expression.

Was it wise to advocate for dismissal given her reinstatement will be viewed as license?
