The head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards has warned France and the editors of Charlie Hebdo they may face the same fate as Salman Rushdie after more cartoons were published by the satirical magazine mocking Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country’s supreme leader.

“I advise the French and directors of the Charlie Hebdo magazine to take a look at the fate of Salman Rushdie,” Major-General Hossein Salami said according to the Mehr news agency on Tuesday.

Mohammedan facing terrorism charge in arson incident at power plant

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says a man was arrested in connection with an arson incident at a power facility.

According to Las Vegas police, at approximately 11:37 a.m. on Jan. 4, officers were notified of a “malicious destruction of property incident” that occurred at a power facility in the 10500 block of Highway 93.

Police say that employees advised officers that an unknown subject had broken into the fenced facility and set a vehicle on fire next to a transformer, resulting in damages.

Through the course of the investigation, LVMPD says its Counter Terrorism detectives identified the subject as Mohammed Mesmarian, 34.

German police arrest Iranian man suspected of planning chemical attack

German police have arrested an Iranian man suspected of planning a chemical attack motivated by Islamic extremism.

The 32-year-old was seized at his flat shortly before midnight on Saturday in the town of Castrop-Rauxel, close to Dortmund in western Germany. The arrest followed a tip-off from a foreign intelligence agency that the man had obtained toxins, including cyanide and ricin, with which he planned to carry out a terror attack, authorities said on Sunday.

Another man, believed to be the man’s brother, was also detained. He was known to police but not for his links to terrorism, and it is as yet unclear whether he was involved in the plot.
