Jordan Peterson’s free speech crusade in the courts ends after Supreme Court dismisses application for leave to appeal

Author Jordan Peterson’s legal battle with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) has come to an end.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court of Canada dismissed his application for leave to appeal from the judgment of the Court of Appeal of Ontario with costs. No reasons were given.

Peterson had asked Canada’s highest court to consider hearing an appeal of a decision upholding a lower court ruling that he take social media training as ordered by the College. Peterson has been a registered clinical psychologist since 1999, but has not had a clinical practice since 2017.

Jordan Peterson slams Pope Francis’ fixation on ‘climate change’: ‘He should be saving souls’

Prominent Canadian anti-woke psychologist Jordan Peterson blasted Pope Francis for neglecting the salvation of souls and focusing on “climate change” and criticized attempts to make the Catholic Church “relevant” since the 1960s and the Second Vatican Council.

On February 11, Peterson joined Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) reporter Colm Flynn to discuss a sundry of topics, including his wife Tammy’s miraculous recovery from cancer, the widespread loss of faith in the Catholic Church since the 1960s, and Pope Francis’ fixation on “climate change.”

Conrad Black: Jordan Peterson’s Case Has Profound Implications for Canadians’ Rights and Freedoms

It was my privilege and pleasure to participate with perhaps the most eminent contemporary Canadian, Prof. Jordan Peterson, and the prominent American television and internet commentator, Tucker Carlson, in a spontaneous presentation to a live audience of 8,000 in the principal indoor stadium in Edmonton on Jan. 24.

I was ostensibly the moderator, but that consisted in presenting a topic for discussion which all three of us would then tackle in sequence. It was a rollicking and, speaking for the three of us on the dais, a most enjoyable evening. Tucker Carlson is a charming man personally and publicly, with an excellent sense of humour, and alternates profound statements of principle with the provocative apercus of an engaging gadfly. Jordan Peterson makes no pretence to being a barrel of laughs but is an eye-wateringly erudite psychological and philosophical scholar. He presents his views in a rolling thunder of brilliant and intense articulation. I just played it down the middle, added a few light touches, and where it seemed appropriate, smoothed some of Tucker’s more flamboyant reflections, and helped explicate a few of Jordan’s more complex formulations.

The shameless campaign to silence Jordan Peterson

Writer and psychologist Jordan Peterson has lost his battle with Canada’s woke moralists. After a two-year legal fight, the Ontario Court of Appeal has ruled that the Ontario College of Psychologists has the right to send him for mandatory ‘social-media training’ – or to a ‘re-education camp’ as Peterson puts it. If he refuses, Peterson will lose his licence to practise clinical psychology.

Britain will be “Venezuela for 20 years” if Labour wins the next general election, Dr Jordan Peterson has warned.

In a wide-ranging interview, Dr Peterson also said that believing people can change gender represents “maximal confusion” and criticised the ideology of “diversity is unity.”

Christine Van Geyn: Jordan Peterson losing free expression case puts us all at risk

The result is in for Dr. Jordan Peterson in his legal battle against the Ontario College of Psychologists, and the result is a disappointing one for freedom of expression that should concern all members of regulated professions. Christine Van Geyn: College of Psychologists attacks Jordan Peterson in court

On June 21, in a hot, crowded courtroom at Old Osgoode Hall in downtown Toronto, the fight between Dr. Jordan Peterson and the College of Psychologists of Ontario played out.

The fight stems from an investigation by the regulator for clinical psychologists into statements Dr. Peterson had made on Twitter and on the Joe Rogan Podcast. The regulator ordered him to participate in a coaching program about professionalism in public comments, at his own expense, and for an indeterminate amount of time. He is now challenging that order for training (or as Dr. Peterson calls it, “re-education”) in a judicial review, which took place in the hearing this week. (A judicial review is when a court reviews an administrative decision, like the college’s decision to order training.)

The ‘Re-education’ of Jordan Peterson

Whilst social media promises us unrestricted access to an individual’s innermost thoughts and whims, the culture in which it operates is diametrically opposed to freedom of expression. Despite rare victories, such as the Elon Musk exposé of Twitter censorship (“Elon Musk reveals motivation for Twitter Files, says ‘almost every conspiracy theory’ about the social network is true”), the range of ‘acceptable speech’ is only moving in one direction: less.

Rex Murphy: Goodness, gracious, Ottawa survived Jordan Peterson

It’s a pleasure and a cheer to be able to start a piece with some good news. As of Tuesday morning having duly scanned the various news services I may report that Ottawa is still standing. The nation’s capital is still the unscarred and tranquil repository of all that is good and sweet that it always has been despite Dr. Jordan Peterson’s having been allowed within its precincts, despite too, being allowed to speak to thousands of Canadians who wanted to hear him.

Bunch of assholes in Ottawa want local Jordan Peterson event cancelled

“As we approach the one-year anniversary of the so-called ‘Freedom Convoy,’ the last thing we need is a spokesperson of the far-right taking centre stage in our city,” said Jaime Sadgrove, manager of communications and advocacy for the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity, one of 36 local organizations calling for the cancellation of the event in an open letter.
