Why Palestinian Leaders Ignore Arab Atrocities

Palestinian leaders never miss an opportunity to condemn Israel and accuse it of committing “crimes” against the Palestinians. This is in the context of the ongoing virulent Palestinian campaign of incitement against Israel.

The Palestinian leaders, however, remain oblivious to the suffering of their people in some Arab countries, especially Syria, where more than 4,100 Palestinians have been killed during the fighting between the Syrian army and the opposition or died as a result of torture, starvation and medical negligence over the past decade. These leaders are also most likely afraid that their Arab brothers would punish them if they speak out against the atrocities committed against Palestinians in the Arab countries.

CBC Journalists Told They Can’t Cover Israel-Palestine After Demanding Fairer Coverage

“According to the United Nations and countless human rights organizations around the world (including ones based within Israel), what’s happening in the Occupied Palestinian Territories is a ‘grave breach of international law.’ Some groups believe the attacks amount to an ‘ethnic cleansing.’ It should be covered as such,” the open letter said.

Hamas claim ‘victory’ over Israel & celebrate in Gaza streets despite agreeing ceasefire after 223 killed in airstrikes

Celebrations were heard on Gaza streets minutes after the truce began as cars honked their horns and guns were fired in the air, while in the occupied West Bank, joyful crowds also took to the streets.

Hamas’ rocket attacks have little to do with Israel – it’s a political campaign for control over Palestinian Territories

You might be forgiven for thinking that rockets launched on Israel from Gaza and Jewish state retaliating against Hamas is just business as usual in the country. Another chapter in the hopeless Palestinian struggle for statehood.

The reality is a bit more complex.

You see, everybody knows that Hamas can’t really hurt Israel and that any form of armed struggle by the Palestinians is destined to fail. There is simply no way for them not only to defeat the Israeli army but to even make a dent in the territories it controls or to force Israel to make any concessions. Iron Dome intercepts most rockets and those which do make it over kill maybe a handful of individuals. In fact, more people died in Gaza due to Hamas rockets falling short of their targets, than in Israel.

Violence, however, does have its uses.

Multiple protests for the ‘liberation of Palestine’ in Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg

Hundreds of people in Montreal waved Palestinian flags, drove through the streets and gathered in front of Israel’s consul general in Westmount in support of Palestine in wake of the growing violence between Israel and Hamas.

Pro-Israeli, pro-Palestinian supporters clash near Manitoba Legislature

Separated by a line of around 50 Winnipeg Police Service officers, approximately 50 Israel supporters and 300 Palestine supporters volleyed death threats, insults and bottles of water.

Then of course there’s Toronto… Diversity is our Strength!

Se Above vids – from the CBC – “Among the myriad of Palestinian flags were dozens of Israeli flags flown by counter-demonstrators in the square. Police appeared to set up a barrier to separate opposing protesters. As of Saturday night, police had no information about any arrests made in connection with the rally.”

From the StarA pro-Israel group of around 100 people were also protesting at the scene, with police setting up barricades to separate opposing protesters. Toronto police say there are no reports of violence at this time, and no arrests or charges have been made.

A Palestinian State: What Would Ben Gurion Have Said?

Another missed opportunity?

This is the question that, observing the long overdue forthcoming Palestinian elections, comes to mind. When the decision to hold the elections was first declared, some of us hoped that it would provide an opportunity for Palestinians to attempt three changes in their political trajectory: to organize a change of generations at the top levels of political decision-making, to forge a minimum of understanding among long rival political groups on the basic rules of the game, and, more importantly, to transform their various versions of “the cause” into a state-building project rooted in reality.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas – “Fuck the c—t of China with a shoe!”

Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas was recently caught badmouthing several countries, including the United States and his Arab neighbors, during a profanity-laced rant that raises new concerns about the 85-year-old leader’s deteriorating health.

The Arabic language rant is renewing speculation that Abbas—who is overweight and a heavy cigarette smoker—is in poor mental and physical health as he carries out his 16th year in office. His government is under great strain amid monumental regional shifts that have seen Israel make peace with its traditional Arab foes.

For once I agree with Abbas.

Palestinians have long been accusing the Palestinian Authority (PA) of spying on them by monitoring their activities on various social media platforms, including Facebook. The espionage has resulted in the arrest and persecution of dozens of Palestinians, especially those who dared to criticize PA President Mahmoud Abbas and senior Palestinian officials.

The Palestinians’ accusations have now been confirmed by Facebook. This week, it revealed that it had uncovered the hacking activities of the Palestinian Preventive Security Service (PSS), who report to Abbas.

How Palestinian Leaders Treat Their Refugees

The Palestinian leadership, which is about to receive tens of millions of dollars from the Biden administration, has once again proven that it does not tolerate any form of criticism, even if it comes from impoverished Palestinian who fled their homes in Syria.

This leadership has also shown how it cares nothing about the problems facing its people, especially those who were forced to flee their homes in Syria after the beginning of the civil war there in 2011.

How Arabs Discriminate Against Palestinians

The Palestinian Authority (PA) has invited Iraq to send observers to monitor the Palestinian parliamentary elections, if and when they are held on May 22. The invitation was extended to Mohamed al-Halbousi, Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq, by the PA ambassador to Iraq, Ahmed Akl, during a meeting in Baghdad.

It is not clear whether the Iraqis have accepted the invitation. What is clear, however, is that Iraq is among the many Arab countries where Palestinians continue to face discriminatory measures and laws.

Worse, it seems the Iraqi authorities are carrying out a policy of ethnic cleansing against the few thousand Palestinians who still live in Iraq.

Palestinians: More Corruption as Biden Resumes Financial Aid

Ignoring rampant corruption in the Palestinian Authority (PA), the US administration of President Joe Biden says it is preparing to resume unconditional financial aid to the Palestinians.

“The suspension of aid to the Palestinian people has neither produced political progress nor secured concessions from the Palestinian leadership,” US State Department Spokesman Ned Price said at a press briefing earlier this month. “It has only harmed innocent Palestinians.”

In 2018, the administration of President Donald Trump announced that it would not spend more than $200 million set aside for Palestinian aid on the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Is Palestine a State?

The highly politicized International Criminal Court just declared statehood for Palestinians. They did it without any negotiation with Israel, without any compromise, and without any recognized boundaries. They also did it without any legal authority, because the Rome Statute, which established the International Criminal Court, makes no provision for this criminal court to recognize new states. Moreover, neither Israel nor the United States ratified that treaty, so the decisions of the International Criminal Court are not binding on them. Nor is this divided decision binding on signatories, since it exceeds the authority of the so-called court.

Human Rights Violations No One Talks About

On January 3, 2021, the Hamas-controlled Palestinian Land Authority (PLA) in the Gaza Strip “removed” three houses — one of which had been inhabited by a family of three — and bulldozed about 30 dunums (7.4 acres) of agricultural land in the as-Salam neighborhood west of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

The decision to bulldoze the houses and fields — which came on short notice and did not include direct notifications to those affected by it — inflicted financial damage on farmers and displaced several Palestinians from their houses, according to the Gaza-based Al Mezan Center for Human Rights.
