Construction begins on national monument to honour 2SLGBTQ+ community

All of Canada’s problems are solved! We’ve honored the fake women!

Construction is now underway for a national monument in downtown Ottawa recognizing the discrimination faced by 2SLGBTQ+ people across the country.

Survivors of the Canadian government’s LGBT purge dug shovels and broke ground alongside Indigenous elders and government officials on Wednesday afternoon, near the Ottawa River by Portage Bridge and Wellington Street.

Ottawa Coun. Ariel Troster, Veterans Affairs Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor, and Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge, Canada’s first openly lesbian cabinet minister, were among the politicians in attendance.

Westlock, Alta., residents vote to get rid of town’s rainbow crosswalk in plebiscite

They made Justin cry.

Residents of Westlock, Alta., voted in favour of a bylaw Thursday evening that bans certain flags and crosswalks from being displayed on public property, including the town’s only rainbow crosswalk.

A plebiscite over a neutrality bylaw, spurred by a door-to-door petition signed by more than 700 residents, was announced in November. The bylaw, which will be implemented after Thursday’s vote, bans crosswalks and flags supporting “political, social, or religious movements or commercial entities,” in an effort to keep public spaces politically neutral.

‘People of Color’ are ‘Mascots’ for the Global Elites

During the World Economic Forum’s annual conclave of plutocrats last week, the attendees enjoyed an exotic display of indigenous culture and their own virtue signaling of their love for “diversity.” The Catholic News Agency reports, “as part of a plenary session on Wednesday titled ‘Climate and Nature: A Systemic Response Is Needed,’ Chieftess Putanny Yawanawá of the Amazonian Yawanawá tribe . . . performed a shamanic rite.” Resplendent in her tribal garb and face-paint, she stood close to each of the several panel members’ faces, coughed, then blew on their foreheads.

Gad Saad: The West suffers from cultural self-delusion

In several of the courses that I have taught (e.g., consumer behavior or international marketing), I have at times covered how cultural misunderstandings can result in costly business mishaps. For example, it is always a good idea to apply back translation when developing advertising copy across foreign markets. Take an advertising slogan in language A, have it translated to language B, and then have someone else translate back to language A. This reduces the likelihood of having translation errors when otherwise conducted in only one direction (from A to B).

Wealthy Illinois city Highland Park is forced to cancel ‘poverty simulation’ at country club to show residents what it’s like to live poor after furious backlash

A wealthy Chicago suburb has been forced to cancel a ‘poverty simulation’ event following furious backlash for hosting it at a country club.

The City of Highland Park, Illinois partnered with The Alliance for Human Services and several other community organizations to put on the event which was scheduled for Saturday at the Highland Park Country Club.

The goal was to increase residents’ understanding of what it is like to live in poverty – with the original event description reading: ‘Participants are put into situations in which they do not have enough resources and are forced to make difficult choices that can negatively impact them and their families.’

The dangers of virtue-signalling

They look “ghetto”

Woke culture encourages and rewards pathological behaviours.

In his 1984 book, Political Ponerology, psychologist Andrzej Lobaczewski coined the term ‘pathocracy’. It refers to a government made up of people with personality disorders, particularly narcissism and psychopathology. Predictably, interest in the idea of pathocracy flourished after Donald Trump became president in 2016.

The presence of such personalities in politics is neither new nor surprising. Research has long shown that reward arrogance, preferring displays of confidence over competence. This can regularly lead to the promotion of the wrong individuals.

Another Confederate monument bites the dust

Reconciliation statue at Arlington National Cemetery set to be destroyed

In the midst of the Black Lives Matter movement sparked in 2020 by the murder of George Floyd, Congress required the Department of Defense to create a commission to evaluate the ways the military continued to honor the Confederacy.

The duties of the “naming commission” were to assess the “cost of renaming or removing names, symbols, displays, monuments or paraphernalia that commemorate the Confederate States of America or any person who served voluntarily with the Confederate States of America.”

Calgary’s Cancellation of Canada Day Fireworks Display Prompts Backlash

An advocacy group that says it represents “common sense Calgarians” has launched a petition calling for a reinstatement of the fireworks display in Calgary on Canada Day.

“How about we put an end to this nonsense immediately, and force City Hall to reverse course and bring back fireworks now, this year?” said Common Sense Calgary in its petition, launched on May 21.

Canada’s grave errors

Why does a country once regarded as a model of moderation and sanity now view itself as a seething den of blood-soaked bigotry and white supremacy?

Canadians used to have a reputation for being sane and moderate,” Oxford University professor Nigel Biggar said to me on a recent Quillette podcast. “If you have time, I’d like to know why you think Canada has gone the way it has.”

By “the way it has,” Prof. Biggar was alluding to my country’s strange, somewhat manic-seeming lurch into progressive radicalism since the election of Justin Trudeau, whose government now litters its policy agenda with paeans to intersectionality and anti-racism. This has been done with the express approval not just of Canada’s academic and activist establishment, but of the many Canadian journalists who now devote much of their time to hectoring readers and viewers about privilege, systemic racism and “decolonization”.

The rise of hyper-tokenism – Why do TV shows insist on presenting Britain as far more ‘diverse’ than it actually is?

Almost half the British public believes that ethnic minorities are overrepresented on television, according to a recent YouGov survey. Apparently, 45 per cent of Brits said the broadcast media did not accurately reflect the make-up of society, with ethnic minorities more represented on TV than in the population.

The same propagandizing goes on in Canada. Woke corporations are so insistent on waving tokens about that commercials are an insult to the target audience.

Two Woke Authoritarians Make Their Exit

First New Zealand’s Jacinda Ardern, and now Scotland’s Nicola Sturgeon: the world’s chief nannies are quitting before voters have a chance to push them out. The pair thrived off imposing Covid restrictions, only to find far less sympathy for their blend of woke politics and authoritarian control in 2023. It seems that, freed from lockdowns, many people are no longer willing to be nudged, cajoled, hectored, censored, monitored, checked, and approved. Nor are they willing to sacrifice their rights, their children’s safety, and their standard of living to appease a leader’s appetite for hollow displays of virtue.

Sweden ditches ‘feminist foreign policy’ … Justin Trudeau Hardest Hit

Justin Trudeau crying on cue.

Sweden’s new foreign minister has ditched its pioneering “feminist foreign policy”, saying the label has become more important than its content.

But Tobias Billstrom said “we will always stand for gender equality”.

The previous left-wing government launched the policy in 2014, becoming the first in the world to put gender equality at the heart of its dealings with other nations.

The self-labelled “feminist government” had ruffled feathers globally.
