The Foundation of American Folly

The Ford Foundation has spent decades tearing the country apart, tax-free

It’s November 2023, and, following the October 7 attacks by Hamas terrorists that killed some 1,400 Israelis and at least 31 Americans, thousands of demonstrators march through New York City, calling for the destruction of the Jewish state. Chants of “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” echo through the streets, along with “there is only one solution: intifada revolution.” Among the crowd is the infamous Palestinian American activist Linda Sarsour, who warns through a megaphone that a cabal of wily Jews has conspired to place “their little posters” (of kidnapped Israeli civilians) across the city, seeking to entice people to rip them down. While many onlookers might look like “ordinary people,” she says, the Jews have “their little people all around the city,” surveilling others. Sarsour is there to deliver such rhetoric in part because she’s been paid to be there: her nonprofit, MPower Change, has received $300,000 in grant funding from the Ford Foundation “to build grassroots Muslim power.”

The media’s great awokening is alienating the masses

When I was a cub reporter working at the Washington Post a half-century ago, being a journalist was first and foremost a craft. I once tried to slip my opinion into an article, but my editor wrote on the copy that ‘nobody gives a shit what you think’.

It was harsh, but good training. Our primary job as journalists was not to indoctrinate but to inform. Even when writing an opinion piece, you would try backing up assertions with facts and leave room for the possibility that your point of view may not be the only permissible one.

Oh, You Thought This Was About Basketball?

The WNBA has always been a vehicle for left-wing activism. Caitlin Clark is learning that the hard way.

If you were under the illusion that the Women’s National Basketball Association was actually about basketball, the league’s reception of Caitlin Clark might strike you as bewildering. Clark began her professional basketball career in May amid an unprecedented amount of positive attention and energy, with all the makings of the first true WNBA superstar. But from the outset, the world of women’s basketball — both the players themselves and the broader ecosystem of journalists, media outlets, and activists who cover them — made no secret of its hostility to the 22-year-old phenom.

Is Fitness Fascist? The Left wants you weak.

One doesn’t expect much substance or insight from the UK’s left-wing Guardian, and a recent opinion piece there – “Getting fit is great – but it could turn you into a rightwing jerk” – did not disappoint on that score, but it did accidentally raise a worthwhile question: does becoming healthier and stronger incline one toward right-wing politics, even fascism?

These High School Classes Teach Boys to Hate Manhood

“Healthy Masculinity” is the most destructive school DEI program you never heard of.

The ‘Healthy Masculinity Club’ at a Portland high school is described as a “place for guys to not be guys” while the ‘Healthy Masculinity’ class at Montpelier High School in Vermont indoctrinates boys on “how traditional concepts of masculinity have harmed women.”

Black scholars criticize white writer’s ‘dehumanizing’ use of blackface to write book on U.S. race relations

A Canadian journalist is defending his decision to travel the U.S. in blackface and write a book about racism, after facing a storm of criticism online.

“Last summer, I disguised myself as a Black man and traveled throughout the United States to document how racism persists in American society,” Sam Forster, who is white, posted Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter. “Writing Seven Shoulders was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done as a journalist.”

The reaction was swift and brutal, with X users expressing anger, amusement and confusion, and telling Forster he should have simply spoken to Black people to understand their experiences.

Jamie Sarkonak: The period bracelet, a cringey fashion statement for Liberal men

It’s hard to find a word that captures the feeling of seeing a man sporting a menstruation bracelet. It’s not quite “creepy” but it’s almost there. It’s strangely invasive, private bodily functions being paraded about and all. And finally, it’s effeminate in the worst possible way.

The feeling was triggered on Tuesday, when a few bold Liberal MPs took it upon themselves to promote “Menstrual Hygiene Day,” another observance in the awareness-raising calendar unbeknownst to the population at large.

Half of UCLA Medical School Graduates Can’t Pass Basic Competency Tests and No One Dares Question It

What happens when an elite medical school makes DEI its lodestar instead of competence? As it turns out, the answer is pretty much what you’d imagine.

The Daily Caller’s Aaron Sibarium (‘A Failed Medical School’: How Racial Preferences, Supposedly Outlawed in California, Have Persisted at UCLA) does a deep dive into the changes at the elite University of California, Los Angeles’s David Geffen School of Medicine once a DEI jihadi was put in charge of the admissions process. What he discovers should scare the bejeezus out of you.

The Anti-Woke Counterrevolution Is Spreading

Accurate depiction of woke society.

A gradual move back to normalcy has become apparent.

Writing in this space five months ago, I argued that an anti-woke counterrevolution was starting on American campuses. While that is certainly even more true today, I am seeing increased signs of a more widespread revolt against relentless attacks on traditional American values such as respect for free speech and private property, as well as a reverence of God, hard work and assessing people on the basis of meritorious accomplishment.

Warning to Young Women: Bears Will Maul You

Have you ever stopped mid hike to listen to an ominous lumbering sound populating the deep brush and, in that moment of terror before a cheeky squirrel is revealed, thought, “Would I rather be stuck in a forest with a man or a bear?” This hypothetical, popularized recently on TikTok, has made its way to downstream social media, with women answering in forums and videos that they’d rather be alone in a forest with a bear than a man. As one might expect, more than a few men (and women) find this knee-jerk preference for sharing a bit of arboreal real estate with wild Ursus rather than Frank from Lac du Flambeau incredibly dense and downright offensive.

FORK OFF! Swiss army knife maker to produce version without a blade

For more than a century, the Swiss army knife has been an essential piece of kit for everyone from picnickers and equestrians, to golfers and astronauts.

But now the maker of the pocket-knife, with its red or blue shell and multiple tools, has bowed to what an English judge last week called the “plague of knife crime” by designing a new range without blades.

In response to an increasing number of countries imposing bans or restrictions on carrying knives, Victorinox, the Swiss firm that produces the pocket tools, is in the early stages of developing the first range of bladeless products designed specifically for activities where a blade would not be required.

The toppling of the woke authoritarians

If you – like me – loathe authoritarian, faux-progressive scolds, it’s actually been a good few years. I know it might not seem like it, with the ‘Queers for Palestine’ contingent currently running riot on American university campuses, but hear me out. Across the Anglosphere, one politician after another, beloved by the media but increasingly disliked by the public, have exited the stage, often jumping before they were pushed.

Jerry Seinfeld is right: ‘PC cr*p’ is killing comedy

TV comedy just isn’t funny anymore. That’s the verdict of Jerry Seinfeld, stand-up comedy legend and star of Seinfeld, one of the biggest sitcoms of all time.

In an interview with the New Yorker at the weekend, he said:

‘It used to be, you would go home at the end of the day, most people would go, “Oh, Cheers is on. Oh, M*A*S*H is on. Oh, Mary Tyler Moore is on. All in the Family is on.” You just expected, there’ll be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight. Well, guess what – where is it?’
