Alberta lawyers launch petition against mandatory course on Indigenous history

EDMONTON—A group of lawyers in Alberta is pushing back against a rule mandating professional development, which currently only applies to a course focused on Indigenous history and contemporary issues.

The petition, signed by 51 lawyers, calls for a special Law Society of Alberta meeting to vote on repealing Rule 67.4, which requires all Alberta lawyers to take an Indigenous cultural competency course called “The Path” or face penalty of suspension.

This is how you do it: Make woke academics live up to their own rules

… Smith isn’t just blowing smoke. He’s talking total war, including investigating the “morally superior” academics who have defamed his family: Satan worshippers, Marxists, people supporting mutilating children’s bodies, anti-free speech absolutists, and vaccine totalitarians.

In closing, Smith demands not only the return of the $51 million that the campus turned its back on when it defamed and rejected T.C. Williams but also “the other substantial gifts my family made to the University and the return of this money as well.”

Well played.

‘Walt’s Disenchanted Kingdom’: New Film Shows Disney Left Family Content for Wokeism

“Once upon a time, if it was a Disney movie, you knew it was going to be safe for children,” Media Research Center (MRC) Founder and President Brent Bozell says at the beginning of a new documentary, “Walt’s Disenchanted Kingdom,” set to premiere next week on Monday, January 23.

Subtitled “How Disney is losing its way,” the film explores Disney’s degeneration from an iconic, beloved family entertainment enterprise to an activist political operation opposing parental rights and bent on indoctrinating children into liberal, “woke” gender and sexual ideologies.

An anonymous look inside the UK’s woker than woke police

The writer is a serving police officer.

IT IS a widely held belief that public bodies have, these days, been completely captured by woke ideology amid the ongoing culture wars. HR departments are having their collective heads turned by intersectional dogma and managers care more for what’s said about them on Twitter than they do in performing efficiently.

Particular concern has been focused on the police, which, as if to illustrate the point, now prefers to be called a service rather than a force. Some otherwise sensible folk are of the opinion that, surely, an institution which deals with catching often violent offenders and bringing them to justice simply cannot have been taken over by this quasi-religious ‘be kind’ zealotry? Unfortunately, dear reader, I’m here to tell you that it has.

Shakespeare’s Globe theatre fears for safety of actors in ‘woke’ plays

An outpouring of online abuse after a non-binary Joan of Arc and the staging of “Wokeo and Juliet” has raised fears from the artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe that she may be putting performers “in harm’s way”.

The theatre’s recent productions have been cast into the heart of the so-called culture wars, with Michelle Terry lamenting a “bilious” response on social media. “I have to sit with them before they go on stage and put themselves on the front line and go, ‘Is this the safest thing for you to do,’ and that is really worrying,” Terry said of her performers. “That is my concern. Is this a really safe place for nuanced debate.”

How the wokeness it pushes could destroy higher education

“Get woke, go broke.” It’s a phrase people coined to describe the failure of Hollywood’s recent politics-drenched efforts at blockbuster films, from which viewers stayed away in droves. But now it applies to another field: higher education.

College and graduate degrees were comparatively rare before about 1970. People could be quite successful without them, and there was little stigma attached to their absence.

That changed as the baby boomers and the GI Bill hit colleges. By the 1970s, college became an essential ticket to entry in the managerial and professional classes (and even to military promotions). Where higher ed had once been a luxury, it became a necessity to membership in the middle, and especially the upper-middle, class.

LGBTQ Advisors Appointed for Canadian Military’s Chaplain Service to Promote ‘Diversity and Inclusion’

The Canadian military has appointed LGBTQ advisors to serve in its chaplain service to promote “diversity and inclusion” within the armed forces, says a federal briefing note on Dec. 6.

“We have established senior advisor positions including an indigenous and LGBTQ advisor to Chaplain General to raise awareness, education and innovate,” said the note “Military Chaplains,” obtained by Blacklock’s Reporter.

The advisors were to “further provide diversity and inclusion within the Chaplain Service,” said the note, according to the media outlet.

The CAF’s desire to become hyper-woke puts them at cross-purposes.  Won’t the transgender chaplains meet with resistance from the ISIS recruits?

How the culture war went global

Authoritarians the world over are weaponising wokeness.

The rise of ‘woke’ identity politics in the Anglophone West is driven by deep shifts in our political economy, institutional architecture and core values. While most of today’s discussions about identity politics tend to focus on its illiberal implications for domestic politics, in a context of growing international authoritarianism, the geopolitical consequences must not be underestimated.

The Loudoun County cover-up reveals the moral depravity of woke

A schoolgirl was raped by a ‘genderfluid’ boy – and her school covered it up.

Loudoun County in northern Virginia is the epicentre of the parents’ rights movement in the US. School officials in Loudoun have aggressively pursued a cultural agenda, introducing children to ideas about critical race theory and gender-identity ideology, over the heads of parents. An enduring image from that battle came from a raucous Loudoun school-board meeting in June 2021, when Scott Smith, a father of a high-school student, was wrestled to the ground by police and arrested. Smith was angry that school officials had remained silent about the rape of his daughter in the girls’ bathroom by a ‘genderfluid’ teenage boy wearing a kilt.

Aberdeen University issues trigger warning for ‘challenging’ Peter Pan

A Scottish university has been ridiculed for introducing a trigger warning for Peter Pan, suggesting the popular children’s fantasy could be “emotionally challenging”.

Aberdeen University has included the tale by JM Barrie, who was born in Kirriemuir, Angus, in a list of titles that may leave undergraduates needing help if they are unable to cope with the content. Other books on the list include The Railway Children by E Nesbit and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis.

The Pentagon’s Pronoun Wars

General Gender Unicorn Milley

Our woke military brass don’t know how to win wars, but know their pronouns.

In 2020, the Air Force conducted a classified war game which showed Communist China launching a biological attack and then invading Taiwan.

And we lost.

“At that point the trend in our war games was not just that we were losing, but we were losing faster,” Air Force Lt. Gen. S. Clinton Hinote stated.
