“Peak Woke”

The recording of ‘non-crime hate incidents’ has got to stop.

In a world where ever more menacing, Orwellian terms are created by the day, there are still few that are more terrifying than ‘non-crime hate incident’ (NCHI).

The evil of the term is two-fold. Firstly, the word ‘hate’ reminds us that the state reserves the right to legally classify certain emotions as criminal. So-called hate crimes carry longer sentences, based on the identity of the victim and the prejudices of the perpetrator.

This social-media account has exposed just how insidious and dangerous woke indoctrination can be.

For more than a year, the Washington Post pretty much ignored the explosive story about the son of the president of the United States dumbly leaving his laptop, packed with dodgy images and information, in a repair shop in Delaware. But fret not, the Post has finally found a scandal it can sink its Watergate-sharpened teeth into – the existence of a woke-mocking online phenomenon called Libs of TikTok.

As a fleet sailor for over thirty years, I saw our Navy and other branches military up close and personal. Yes, when I raised my right hand in 1970 to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America,” there were still vestiges of racism and discrimination in all the services. Perhaps there was more in the tradition-bound Navy than in any other branch — stewards were either Filipino or Black, and there were very few minority commanding officers, let alone admirals. That has changed dramatically in the last fifty years.

Broadway now exists to promote ideology, not art

We all know our consciousness is corrupt, and a long life, examined, brings the burden of regret, shame, and indeed a horror at our own actions that, at times, becomes scarcely bearable.

The theatre, and tragedy particularly, offers a median between outright confession and conscious, rational (which is to say flawed or at least untrustworthy) understanding.

Anti-Jewish and anti-Asian hatred has been inflamed by the politics of identity.

‘Silence is Violence’, said Black Lives Matter and its army of media cheerleaders in the tumultuous summer of 2020. In their mind, anyone who stayed schtum about anti-black racism was complicit in it. If you failed to take the knee or put a black square on your Instagram page or faithfully mouth BLM’s political platitudes, then you were an aider and abetter of violence against people of colour. Does this still hold? Is it still the case that saying nothing about racism amounts to supporting racism? If so, then the very same woke activists who spent the past two years saying ‘Silence is Violence’ should turn themselves over to the cops, because racist attacks have spiked horribly in the US in recent weeks and they have uttered not a word about it.
