President Donald Trump took over the White House less than a month ago, and in keeping with his reality television show catchphrase from The Apprentice – “You’re Fired” – he has already removed more than 200 employees.

Some amount of turnover is typical for a new administration, but Trump has made massive changes during his first weeks in office. He offered buyouts to millions of government workers and put a stop to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programmes.

On Friday, Trump fired the nation’s top record keeper, US Archivist Colleen Shogan.

For some it is a shock to see a President do what he was elected to do.

At one area high school, just under half of students were absent on Monday, for a total of roughly 900 who stayed home, one teacher said.

Since that epic ride down the golden escalator, Donald Trump’s slaughtered a lot of permanent Washington’s sacred cows in his time, but this one has to take the cake.

In the Bush era, a Republican — or a Democrat — of any standing floating the idea of targeting the bloated Pentagon would have rendered him or her persona non grata, engendering denunciations of alleged secret al-Qaeda sympathies and all kinds of nonsense from the War of Terror days.

Liberals collectively lamented President Donald Trump’s takeover of the Kennedy Center via their Bluesky social media network.

Several users responded to Trump’s announcement on Truth Social that he had cleaned house at the Kennedy Center and terminated “multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees,” and had named himself the chairman, by expressing that they felt it was “beyond parody.”

The Kennedy Center was hosting drag shows.

When Donald Trump’s fortunes took a downturn in the 90s and he needed to raise cash fast, he sailed his 282ft (85m) superyacht, the Trump Princess, to Asia hoping he could attract Japan’s wealthy.

It wasn’t the first time the businessman had sought out Japanese buyers or lenders for his projects.

In the cut-throat world of New York real estate, Trump had a front-row seat from his Fifth Avenue skyscraper of Tokyo’s buying spree in the 80s of iconic US brands and properties, including Rockefeller Center.

The Roman salute, the Sieg Heil, the YMCA dance. The comparison is so absurd it practically debunks itself.

Anyone who genuinely thinks that Trump’s America – whatever else you might think of the man or his policies – can be mentioned in the same breath as fascist Italy or Nazi Germany needs to get a grip.

Because let’s be clear about what we are talking about here. Fascism, and especially its Nazi incarnation, was an evil the like of which the world had never seen before. Or, thankfully, since.
