Socialized Medicine Is No Cure: Britain’s Broken Benefit System

Winning the hearts and minds of society is arguably easier to achieve by promising hand-outs. Also, especially in the age of rapid communication, emotion sells — a handy method for sneaking political takeovers through the back door. So, when it comes to something as fraught with emotion as medicine, it is difficult to argue the downsides for fear of appearing heartless.

Armed thief follows woman into a building and attacks her before stealing her car – as Chicago crime skyrockets 40 percent on last year

Chicago police are searching for an armed thief they say attacked a woman and stole her car.

Surveillance footage caught the moment the unidentified suspect, in a red jacket with dark pants, followed a woman into a building on September 24 at 7.30pm.

He soon approaches an alcove, where the woman appears to be hiding out, and seems to yell at her.

West Coast Blues

Progressives in California, Oregon, and Washington confront the political consequences of bad governance.

Few regions have been more consistently Democratic than the West Coast. Even compared with the Northeast, where Republicans occasionally win governors’ offices, the appropriately named “left coast” has been adamantine in its progressivism. Republicans haven’t won statewide office in California in years; in Oregon, it’s decades. Washington has elected a Republican secretary of state, but she now serves in the Biden administration. And the region’s major cities are overwhelmingly blue.

Diversity is our 5th Columns strength! Canadian intelligence warned PM Trudeau that China covertly funded 2019 election candidates

Canadian intelligence officials have warned Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that China has allegedly been targeting Canada with a vast campaign of foreign interference, which includes funding a clandestine network of at least 11 federal candidates running in the 2019 election, according to Global News sources.

Delivered to the prime minister and several cabinet members in a series of briefings and memos first presented in January, the allegations included other detailed examples of Beijing’s efforts to further its influence and, in turn, subvert Canada’s democratic process, sources said.

Says both LPC & CPC candidates were involved but I suspect it leans heavy to the Liberals. Were the NDP deemed too crazy or already in the CCP’s pocket?

If they’re letting this out I am betting it’s a lot worse. Diversity is our 5th column’s strength!

Seriously, can anyone name a well-run Democratic city?

As we draw closer to polling day, there is really only one question anyone needs to have in their head. Are things better or worse than when America last went to the polls?

The problem is that you can answer that differently state by state. A lot of people who fled California in the last couple of years, for instance, can say that their lives have improved by moving to Tennessee, Florida or Texas.

So let me narrow the question down a bit. Can anybody in any Democratic-run city honestly say that their lives — and city — have improved over the last couple of years?

Over 250 Canadian school personnel accused of sexual offenses: report

A report from the Canadian Centre for Child Protection says 252 current or former school personnel committed or were accused of committing offences of a sexual nature against 548 children over a five-year span.

It says another 38 personnel were criminally charged for child pornography-related offences during the same time frame of 2017 to 2021.

“It is startling and a bit infuriating,” said Noni Classen, director of education at the Winnipeg-based centre.

Why Lifelong Democrats in Oregon Say They’re Ready to Vote Red

‘Look outside. You see the homelessness, people dying in the streets from overdoses, people having psychotic breaks. It’s in shambles. It wasn’t always like this.’

PORTLAND, ORE.—Christine Drazan—a pro-life, pro-gun rights Republican best known for fighting a state climate-change bill—is in a dead heat to become the next governor of Oregon.

I repeat: Oregon.

Oregon, where Democrats have controlled the governor’s mansion for four decades, and the state legislature for 15 years. Oregon, where medical marijuana has been legal since 1998 (trailing only California) and assisted dying is a birthright and hippies have long been a major constituency. (In 2013, the real-estate blog Estately ranked Eugene the No. 1 city in America for hippies.)

If you want to know why super-progressive Oregon is thinking about voting red, consider one small community of people living in houses floating on the Columbia River.

Immigrants make up nearly a quarter of Canadian population: census

The latest release of 2021 census data shows immigrants make up nearly a quarter of all people in Canada, and are projected to represent a third of people in the country by 2041.

Immigrants now make up the largest portion of the population since Confederation, with more than 8.3 million people in the country who were, or had ever been, a landed immigrant or permanent resident.

Statistics Canada says immigration is the main driver of population growth, in part because of the aging population and low fertility rates in the country.

In Ottawa, where junkies and technocrats collide

Canada’s liberal capital city has been besieged by drugs and disorder

I got out of the taxi in front of my hotel in lower town Ottawa and was immediately accosted by a homeless junkie looking for a donation to the cause. It was a Sunday evening, well after sunset, and not quite the greeting I had hoped for upon arrival in Canada’s leafy capital. The smell of pot was in the air, a lot of it — there was a cannabis store across the street, and another around the corner.

This Is Why Growing Racial Discrimination Is So Dangerous

The trend, spurred on by the vice president, tears at our already tenuous social fabric.

Vice President Kamala Harris recently told an audience that the federal government must focus on “equity” when dispersing resources related to natural disasters and climate change. She specifically highlighted lower-income communities, minorities, and women.

While the exact meaning of her comments is being debated, Harris’ statements rightfully raised eyebrows, as one would hope that the federal government would only consider need, not gender or race, when deciding how to divvy up aid. Harris’ reckless choice of words is inexcusable, as it has the potential to cause panic in communities devastated by disaster and sow division in the face of tragedies that should otherwise unite people around a common cause.

Conservative Oregon Counties Want to Secede From the State, Join Idaho

Few states, if any, are as relentlessly and drearily woke as Oregon. Leftists can point proudly to Portland, with its ubiquitous crime, homelessness, broken windows, graffiti, and debris, as the model for what they want to do to the entire nation. But at least some Oregonians have decided that they don’t actually want to live in the Left’s paradise, and are tired of being tyrannized by the Leftists who run the state. Nine Oregon counties have already voted to secede from the state and join Idaho, and two more are set to vote in November about whether or not they want to do so as well. It’s an eloquent indication of which policies actually work for the American people: while Americans from all over the country flock to deep red Florida, in deep blue Oregon, people are actually trying to redraw the state boundaries so that they’re no longer in the blue state at all.

Why Some Canadians Are Leaving

After serving more than five years as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Daniel Pamudja wanted to settle down to a more traditional lifestyle. He got married, had children, and looked to buy a home and raise his family in the security of the country he had grown to love.

But in recent years, he began to sense that the values and history on which Canada was built were quickly eroding, he says. In his view, when laws and practices began to border on being unethical, and when government policy responses to the COVID pandemic infringed on the rights and freedoms he enlisted to defend, the country no longer felt the same.

The Liberal-Left have made Canada a much crappier place than the nation I was born into.

‘Rich young professionals’ flee New York, California in droves: study

New York, California and Illinois lost thousands of “rich young professionals” who fled the Democrat-run state for low-tax havens like Texas and Florida, according to a study.

The study conducted by SmartAsset of workers under the age of 35 who earn $100,000 per year cited inflow and outflow of young professionals by gleaning information from Internal Revenue Service data, including tax returns from 2019 and 2020.

Tyson Foods has become the latest company to shutter its Chicago-area offices in response to rampant crime seen under progressive Mayor Lori Lightfoot, joining Boeing, Caterpillar, and several others to turn tail and flee the Windy City.

The chicken giant made the bombshell announcement Wednesday, revealing it’s bringing together its corporate employees at its global headquarters in Arkansas, and closing down three of its offices, including one in Downtown Chicago.

The other two include a location in nearby Downers Grove, a suburb just outside the city, and in Dakota Dunes in South Dakota.
