Just when you think the Biden administration couldn’t possibly get worse, it finds a way. Gabriel Noronha, a former State Department official, tweeted Wednesday that State, NSC, and European Union officials are warning that “what’s happening in Vienna,” where Biden’s handlers are negotiating a new nuclear deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran, “is a total disaster,” and that they’re hoping that “Congress will act to stop the capitulation.”
Joe Biden has once again led from behind on Western policy regarding Russia. Well, to be fair, this time he’s more leading from the middle — between the private sector and the governments in the EU. Bloomberg reports that Biden will finally sanction Russian oil imports to the US, although most of Europe will take a pass on such action.
Canada announced a further round of sanctions against Russia on Monday following a meeting between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his counterparts from Britain and the Netherlands.
Another 10 individuals have been added to the sanctions list. Their names were suggested by Alexei Navalny, the jailed Russian opposition leader and activist.
“These sanctions put increased pressure on Russia’s leadership, including Putin’s inner circle,” said Trudeau.
Do not travel to Russia due to the unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces in Ukraine, the potential for harassment against U.S. citizens by Russian government security officials, the Embassy’s limited ability to assist U.S. citizens in Russia, COVID-19 and related entry restrictions, terrorism, limited flights into and out of Russia, and the arbitrary enforcement of local law. U.S. citizens should depart Russia immediately.
Former President Bill Clinton announced Friday the reactivation of the Clinton Global Initiative after a period of hibernation, citing climate change and the war in Ukraine.
“The need for that kind of cooperation and coordination has never been more urgent than it is now,” Clinton wrote in a letter.
The Clintons smell money, and she’s running in ’24.
Yesterday, in a speech to a Ukrainian delegation in Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had the nerve to talk about the “slipping of democracy” as a result of “greater authoritarianism”, only a few weeks after Trudeau invoked the emergency act and triggered financial targeting against protestors who assembled against his regime. Again, the media ignore the inherent hypocrisy.
I don’t know whether this will be of interest to anyone; I can hardly be the only person in Canada in contact with relatives in Ukraine. Anyway, these are from the 4th and yesterday from my (somewhat removed) cousin. (I should add that she is not a person to swear or become very emotional easily.)

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Sunday on CBS’s “Face The Nation” that the United States has given the “green light” to NATO countries who have wanted to provide fighter jets to Ukraine.
Russia has warned countries offering airfields to Ukraine would be entering the ongoing conflict.

Like Ukraine, the region is perceived by Vladimir Putin as an integral part of his country. Several modern Arctic warfare bases house, operate and are testing some of Russia’s most advanced weapons.
On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western sanctions on Russia were akin to a declaration of war and warned that any attempt to impose a no-fly zone in Ukraine would lead to catastrophic consequences for the world.
Putin reiterated that his aims were to defend Russian-speaking communities through the “demilitarisation and de-Nazification” of the country so that Russia’s former Soviet neighbor became neutral and no longer threatened Russia.
Putin has started what some people are referring to as WWIII. Biden’s response has been to join other nations in hitting Putin with some financial sanctions, which have thus far not changed Putin’s game plan.
Biden is also sending, depending on your source, roughly $74 million to Russia EVERY DAY for oil.
Why hit Putin with sanctions if you’re handing him mad stacks for oil? Something is up. Biden could open the Keystone XL pipeline. He could “drill, baby, drill” in the States and tap into what might be billions of barrels of oil, but White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki refers to that idea as a “misdiagnosis.”
So instead, Biden is helping to pay for Putin’s war.
SWIFT is the international payment system. Cutting off a top country from SWIFT access is a very big deal.
When the US and EU trotted out the SWIFT sanction card, I thought I got that one wrong. Closer inspection by Eurointelligence and others shows it’s Not So Swift After All.
