Report highlights food bank reliance among refugees in Canada

A significant portion of refugees in Canada, particularly those sponsored by the government, face substantial challenges in their initial years, with many relying on food banks and social assistance, according to a report from the Department of Immigration.

Blacklock’s Reporter says the study evaluated the experiences of refugees admitted between 2016 and 2022, a period during which Canada welcomed 207,060 refugees, including 88,838 government-assisted individuals.

I volunteer at a busy Toronto food bank and I’ve learned something that should make everyone angry

There’s lots of food, as you’d expect, at the food bank where I volunteer on Friday mornings. I’m usually put on the tuna-and-pasta table, so I find myself handing out hundreds of cans of fish and just as many packages of spaghetti. Oh, and tomato sauce too.

But food banks, when you get right down to it, aren’t really about food. The people who turn up at the Fort York Food Bank on College Street in central Toronto, my spot, aren’t hungry in the sense of arriving with growling stomachs from not eating. What they are is struggling to get by in a very expensive city.

This is Trudeau’s fault. Mass migration is killing Canada’s standard of living.

Migrant grievance grifter who stalked elderly woman cries about Racist Canada in Star

A wave of South Asian racism is sweeping Canada — and the Liberals’ missteps on immigration helped fuel the problem

Ashwin Annamalai, a housing and transit advocate, is not the type to keep quiet.

But he says he never thought he’d be talking about the racism he’s experienced in 2024.

The 31-year-old software programmer, who moved to Canada from India to study computer science at the University of Waterloo in 2018, has grown accustomed to seeing hateful posts about people of South Asian ancestry online — pointing to a recent post in a Waterloo Facebook group where a user, using a derogatory term for South Asians, says “they will never be Canadian and they all need to go back.”

I feel so sorry for him! An elderly woman he scared abused him! He should go jump on the first boat home!

This guy is hoping to secure a cushy little sinecure on the DEI grievance bandwagon.

UNIPARTY scheme to flood Canada with 10,000 Uyghur Muslims underway

First Uyghur refugee arrives under Canadian effort to resettle persecuted minority groups from China

A Uyghur woman is the first refugee from China’s persecuted minority groups to arrive in Canada under a federal government resettlement effort launched in 2023.

The Canadian government has committed to bring in Uyghurs and other Turkic minorities who have fled repression in China. This follows from a February, 2023, vote in the House of Commons where MPs voted unanimously in favour of Motion M-62, which called on Ottawa to accept 10,000 Uyghurs and other minorities, and a February, 2021, vote where MPs also backed a declaration that Beijing’s treatment of these people amounted to genocide.

I bet our China class told the boys “here’s a sure fire way to suck up to Xi”. So Justin said to Xi “You got a Muslim problem? Ship em’ to Canada we ALWAYS need more stabby Muslims.”

Trudeau’s immigration plan hinges on ‘highly unlikely’ departure of 2.4 million people

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s plan to fix immigration in Canada depends on the biggest exodus of people since at least the 1940s — one that many economists doubt is feasible.

Slamming the brakes on record-setting population growth requires 2.4 million non-permanent residents to leave or change status over the next two years, according to the government’s forecasts, which also see 1.5 million new temporary arrivals during that time.

Joel Kotkin: Jews are discovering that Canada’s multicultural utopia isn’t safe

In the many summers my family spent in Quebec, at the farm owned by my wife’s uncle Morris and his wife Louise, I could see Canada in its best light. Morris, who grew up in the old Jewish ghetto of Le Plateau-Mont-Royal in Montreal, always expressed gratitude to Canada, a country that birthed his own success and provided security his Polish forebears never enjoyed. “Canada,” he would say, almost tearfully, “is a very good country.”

I’m glad that Kotkin mentions Canada’s ruinous immigration policy.

I suspect it is because he is an American looking in.

Our MSM avoids telling the truth that Canada is being destroyed by multiculturalism and the import of incompatible cultures.

Our elites are responsible for this mess as are all of our mainstream political parties.

The return of Trump has Poilievre talking about a crackdown beyond the U.S. border

… On Sunday, he called for a crackdown on people coming to Canada – tightening visa requirements to make it harder to visit and setting a cap on the number of asylum-seekers.

For a long time, Mr. Poilievre didn’t go there. His party wanted MPs and candidates to steer clear of anything that suggested tough talk on immigration. It’s only in the last few months that

Mr. Poilievre has ramped up criticism of the Liberal government’s failure to control a surge of temporary residents.
Now, he’s talking about cracking down on “false refugees” and warning “our Canadian jobs are being taken.”

A good start but he better learn how to pronounce the words “mass deportation” because Trudeau has literally allowed millions of illegal alien scammers to remain in Canada.

The immigration figures tell a story of elite failure

Mass migration has been embraced to plug the gaps in a stuttering, low-wage economy.

Remember when we were told that Brexit would lead to a draw-bridge Britain, closed to migrants forever more? That particular Remainer scare story is now, officially, defunct.

This week, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed that 728,000 more people came to live in the UK than had left in the year to June 2024. That’s three to four times the net migration the UK averaged annually during the 2010s. To put that into context, nearly the same number of people arrived in the UK in a single year as live in the entire county of Suffolk.

Canada launches global ad campaign warning asylum-seekers that making a claim is difficult

Once presenting itself as one of the world’s most welcoming countries to refugees and immigrants, Canada is launching a global online ad campaign cautioning asylum-seekers that making a claim is hard.

The $250,000 in advertisements will run through March in 11 languages, including Spanish, Urdu, Ukrainian, Hindi and Tamil, the immigration department told Reuters.

They are part of a broader shift in tone by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s unpopular government on immigration and an effort to clamp down on refugee claims.

Trudeau’s Canada: Ontario food banks cutting back amid ‘unprecedented surge in demand’

About 40 per cent of food banks in the province have scaled back the amount of food they provide each visit amid “record-high demand,” according to a new report by Feed Ontario.

The report, which was released Monday, reveals that usage has “surpassed the capacity and resources” of Ontario’s food bank network, adding that provincial food banks were accessed by more than a million people between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024. This marks a 25 per cent increase over the previous year. About 43 per cent of those visitors had never used a food bank before, the report states.

A message from the CEO combined with a land acknowledgement in a hunger report. Tell me this isn’t an industry designed to take advantage of rather than alleviate the problem.

How much of foodbank usage is due to Trudeau’s migrants?

Last year, 97.6 per cent of population growth in Canada was due to immigration,  however, the increase in people who have “been in Canada for 10 years or less” has contributed to only a third of the growth in food bank visitors in Ontario. This is inclusive of temporary workers, students, refugees, and immigrants who have lived in Canada for up to a decade and are struggling with the cost of living.

So 33% of food bank usage is due to migrants, but in the same breath the report calls that a myth.

That cost of living is exasperated by the extreme rise in rents and costs of home ownership created by a housing shortage fueled by … Trudeau’s migrants.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Two people from Canada have been arrested on drug charges, after Illinois State Police seized more than $40 million worth of cocaine from a semi-trailer truck near the Iowa state line on Friday.

Police said, around 2:10 p.m., a trooper conducted a vehicle inspection on a Volvo semi-trailer on Interstate 80 in Henry County.

During the inspection, the trooper noticed “numerous indicators of criminal activity,” and a search of the truck revealed 1,146 pounds of cocaine, with an approximate street value of more than $40 million, police said.

Police arrested 27-year-old Vanshpreet Singh and 36-year-old Manpreet Singh, both of Ontario, Canada. The pair have been charged with felony counts of possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, and cocaine trafficking.

Concerns Growing Over Canada’s Burgeoning Birth Tourism Industry

“Giving birth in Canada opens up great prospects for your baby,” says the Canada Mama consultancy website. It’s one of many platforms helping expectant mothers travel to Canada to give birth so their babies will become Canadian citizens.

Such platforms outline all the reasons Canada is the preferred destination: Birth tourism is permitted by law, medical expenses are relatively cheap, and Canadian citizenship comes with many social benefits.
