From One Assassination Attempt to the Next: Mainstreaming Violence Against a President

Same Old, Same Old: Target Trump

At the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Donald Trump was the target of yet a third assassination attempt—this time in full view of the Washington press corps.

The event was presented as a spirited night with Trump. After 11 years of avoiding the predominantly left-wing media event, he decided to revisit the dinner. He anticipated that he would be the object of ridicule inside the hall—and that he might see possible violence outside it.

Breaking Down the Would-Be Assassin’s Manifesto

Breaking Down the Would-Be Assassin’s Manifesto

In the wake of Saturday’s most recent assassination attempt on the life of President Trump, former President Barack Obama posted on Sunday a social media statement in which he declared that “we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind [the] shooting.” Apparently he didn’t read the failed assassin’s manifesto, which The New York Post published in full – 1052 words he sent to family members just 10 minutes or so before he barreled through a security cordon toward the room in which Trump, administration officials such as Pete Hegseth and Stephen Miller, and other guests attended the White House Correspondents Dinner.

Is Secret Service to blame for White House dinner shooting chaos?

The Secret Service once again finds itself playing defense, this time over how it planned and carried out security measures for senior government officials who attended the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Saturday following a shooting that targeted President Donald Trump.

The Department of Homeland Security agency faced criticism from lawmakers and national security experts Monday in the aftermath of the incident at the Washington Hilton on April 25.

‘It’s bizarre’: Californians grapple with revelation that suspected Trump gunman suspect was neighbour

The man charged with attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump at a Washington dinner lived with his parents in a quiet coastal suburb of Los Angeles.

Some people here lovingly refer to the city of Torrance, known for its good schools, ocean breezes and million-dollar homes, as “Bore-ance” because nothing much ever happens.

Cole Thomas Allen’s neighbours in the community told the BBC they were shocked to see his face on TV – handcuffed, topless and face down on the ground of the Hilton Hotel after allegedly coming armed to Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

‘Shots Fired!’: Inside the Pandemonium at the Washington Hilton

‘Shots Fired!’: Inside the Pandemonium at the Washington Hilton

A man armed with knives, a shotgun and a handgun was barreling through security at a full sprint, heading toward the ballroom at the Washington Hilton.

At that moment on Saturday night, President Trump and many of America’s top government officials and journalists were one floor down, crammed into the ballroom for a black-tie dinner. The mentalist Oz Pearlman, the night’s entertainer, was leaning over Mr. Trump and the first lady, demonstrating one of his mind-reading tricks by trying to guess the name that the White House press secretary had picked out for her baby, due to be born any day.

Canada’s Mark Carney, world leaders decry ‘political violence’ following D.C. press gala shooting

World leaders expressed shock after a shooter charged a glitzy media gala in Washington on Saturday night attended by U.S. President Donald Trump — and relief that there were no casualties.

U.S. law enforcement said the sole suspect, armed with “a shotgun, a handgun and multiple knives,” has been detained and will face charges Monday in federal court.

Trump-haters wonder why he would be an assassination target

A TEACHER from California has been arrested after shots were fired at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner where President Trump was guest of honour early today. The President and his wife were unhurt; one Secret Service agent was shot at close range but was saved by his bullet-proof vest. You can read about developments here. Meanwhile . . .

MAINSTREAM media and politicians throughout the Western world who insist on calling Trump a fascist, a dictator, a threat to democracy, and literally Hitler, declared a three-hour moratorium on insulting him before they raced to try to escape any responsibility.

Here are some of the most ridiculous reactions from the left after last night’s attempted assassination

It should be no shock that journalists are gonna journalist, even in the midst of near tragedy, and last night was no exception.

Washington hotel shooting raises questions about Trump security

Washington hotel shooting raises questions about Trump security

“I can’t imagine that there’s any profession that is more dangerous,” President Donald Trump told reporters, just hours after he was at the centre of yet another major security incident.

While a small army of Secret Service agents make the president arguably the world’s most protected person, keeping him safe is proving to be no easy task.

First there was the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, in the summer of 2024 in which a bullet grazed his ear. Just 64 days later, Trump was again the target of a would-be assassin as he played a round on his Florida golf course.

WASHINGTON — The gunman who opened fire at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night has been identified as Cole Allen of Torrance, Calif. — with President Trump calling him a likely “lone wolf whack job” who “looked pretty evil.”

The 31-year-old, identified by federal law enforcement sources, was arrested after allegedly entering the Washington Hilton hotel and charging toward the ballroom where Trump and roughly 2,500 guests had assembled.

Experts report a surge in interest among American academics looking to move to Canada

OTTAWA — Jason Stanley moved from the United States to Canada last September, leaving behind a high-profile position at Yale to take a job at the Munk School of Global Affairs in Toronto.

The fascism researcher said he made the move for one reason: academic freedom.

“That’s the only reason. Nobody’s coming to Canada for higher wages because you’re not getting higher wages. You’re getting lower retirement, lower salaries, sometimes more teaching. So it’s academic freedom,” Stanley said in an interview with The Canadian Press.

U.S. President Donald Trump said Saturday that a “shooter has been apprehended” after he was rushed away from the White House correspondents’ dinner by Secret Service agents.

The Last Word on the Russia Hoax?

The Last Word on the Russia Hoax?

It all began on September 11. Not September 11, 2001, although a word about that day would not be out of place in this connection. Only days after the attack on New York and Washington, a fool of a president told the American people that Islam is a religion of peace – a perverse formulation that no one on earth had ever encountered before. And this whitewash was reinforced by his successor in the Oval Office, a man who, not foolish but wily, had been fathered by a Kenyan Muslim and grown up in Islamic Indonesia, and hence believed, as Drew Thomas Allen writes in Clinton Hoax, Obama Coup: The Declassified Story of the Trump-Russia Delusion – a spectacular account based on “newly declassified intelligence, memos, and testimonies” – that Islam is “a peaceful religion to be revered.”

Trump got his regime change in Canada. Now he may regret it

Well, the Iranian case is up for debate, but there’s no question your commander in chief effected “regime change” here in Canada. After last week’s special elections, Mark Carney, the prime minister whose elevation Donald Trump helped bring about, has at last secured a parliamentary majority for Canada’s Liberal Party.

But, as observers are keen to note, there is never a guarantee the leader you don’t like will be replaced by someone less problematic.

We’re the one’s who will regret it not Trump, not Carney.
