TikTok accused of hampering Ukraine war crimes investigations: report

Activists and lawyers who have been trying to use TikTok to gather evidence of war crimes in Ukraine say they face roadblocks from the Chinese-owned app, according to a report.

As videos from Ukrainian and Russian soldiers and civilians flood TikTok, activists and lawyers have called on the app to better preserve and hand over videos that could potentially be used as evidence in war crimes investigations and prosecutions, the Financial Times reported on Friday.

But TikTok, which is owned by Beijing-based ByteDance, deletes nearly 90% of videos that it considers “inappropriate” before anyone sees them, according to the report.

Ukraine Fears Western Capitulation on Russia as Cracks Emerge – Trudeau Turbine Surrender Called “Morally Bankrupt”

“… Last weekend brought the Canadian-German decision—supported by the U.S. in a statement issued on Monday—to waive sanctions and release a turbine needed for the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline. The two-year waiver was described by President Volodymyr Zelensky as “weakness” and “absolutely unacceptable.”

A source close to Zelensky’s government, who spoke with Newsweek on the condition of anonymity, described the rationale for the Canadian decision as “bizarre and non-sensible,” and the decision itself as “morally bankrupt.””

‘Gas blackmail’: how Putin’s weaponised energy supplies are hurting Europe

… Less gas sold in Europe means less money for the Kremlin’s war chest, and the EU has committed to cutting Russian imports by two-thirds by year end on that basis. However, despite EU leaders agreeing a partial embargo on Russian oil, any outright ban on its gas appears unlikely given how much many of its members rely on it. So which countries are most vulnerable to Putin’s pressure as he turns the screw?

Nuremberg-style trials for Russian war crimes are ‘self-indulgent’

Kyiv and its Western allies should not focus on a “self-indulgent” Nuremberg-style tribunal to try Russians for their crimes against Ukraine, the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) chief prosecutor said on Friday.

Some have called for Vladimir Putin and his top generals to be prosecuted over their invasion of Ukraine in an international court similar to that set up to try Nazi war crimes after the Second World War.

Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine’s president, earlier this week urged European and ICC officials to open a “special tribunal” to hold the Kremlin to account for its February 24 invasion of his war-torn country.

G20: Freeland claims Russian delegation are personally responsible for ‘war crimes’ in Ukraine

Don’t forget that the PMO had the press make up feel good stories about Freeland when this photo went viral.

Canada’s finance minister, Chrystia Freeland, has told Russian officials at a meeting of G20 finance ministers that she held them personally responsible for “war crimes” committed during Russia’s war in Ukraine, a western official said.

Freeland directly addressed the Russian delegation taking part in the meeting of the Group of 20 major economies, telling them on Friday: “It is not only generals who commit war crimes, it is the economic technocrats who allow the war to happen and to continue,” the official said.

Russian cyber threat worse than previously reported: CSE

Russia’s cyber operations following its invasion of Ukraine have “almost certainly” been more extensive than what has been publicly reported, and Canada is among the targets, the Communications Security Establishment said.

The CSE’s Canadian Centre for Cybersecurity said in a threat bulletin issued Thursday “the scope and severity of cyber operations related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine has almost certainly been more sophisticated and widespread than has been reported in open sources.”

Russia Gives NATO New Lease on Life

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), responding to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, has announced the biggest overhaul of European defense since the end of the Cold War. By pledging more money, more troops and more unity to deter Russia, NATO leaders have reaffirmed NATO as the cornerstone of transatlantic defense.

The alliance’s new Strategic Concept, adopted at the NATO Summit in Madrid on June 28-30, focuses on addressing the return of great-power politics, specifically strategic competition with revisionist powers such as Russia and China.

Trudeau is facilitating Vladimir Putin’s natural-gas blackmail of Germany

Liberals embarrass us once again by breaking NATO sanctions intended to support Ukraine

Well. That was embarrassing.

It’s not quite the same as the spectacle Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made of himself in his magical mystery tour of India back in 2018, with his multiple fancy-dress costume changes, his flamboyant bhangra dancing and the convicted would-be assassin in his entourage. And then having his national-security adviser try to quietly explain away the disgrace with the insinuation that it was all a set-up job by India’s intelligence agencies.

As I’ve stated before I suspect the real story behind Trudeau’s elastic sanctions is an effort to keep the green-scam alive.

If Russia turns off the spigot and the Germans riot because they’re freezing this winter there exists a real risk they will do away with all of the Globalist’s green-scam’s legislation.

Like dominos other Euro nations in the same boat are sure to follow the German example.

This would be a huge set back for the Globalists using the conflict as cover to implement the green-scam.

They see what’s happening in the Netherlands and Sri Lanka, the people are saying No More.

What better way to keep Germany in on the con than to ensure they have gas while simultaneously funding Putin’s war machine ensuring the green-scam doesn’t lose its cover.

Putin may cut off oil as well as gas to cripple Europe

Vladimir Putin has prepared the ground for a drastic cut in supplies of both oil and gas at any moment, giving him the means to strike a psychological hammer blow against the Western democracies before a global recession erodes his energy leverage.

The coming weeks may be his best chance to try to force the West to the table on Russian strategic terms, locking in territorial gains on Ukraine’s Black Sea coast and in the Donbass before the delivery of heavy weapons from NATO raises the military cost for Russia to excruciating levels.

Mr Putin spelled out his operating premise at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in late June, calling the EU’s sanctions policy a double-edged sword that would cause Europe to lose its footing in the global economy and lead to a “system-wide decline” for years to come. He left no doubt that generating inflation in the West is a primary goal.

Trudeau Defends Being An Absolute F*&KING Hypocrite On Russian Sanctions

Trudeau defends two-year deal to repair Russian pipeline turbines despite sanctions on Moscow

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is defending the Canadian government’s recent agreement to import and repair Russian pipeline turbines for up to two years, calling it “a very difficult decision.”

He said Canada ultimately decided to circumvent its own sanctions against Russia because it did not want punitive rules aimed at Russian President Vladimir Putin’s administration to contribute to the energy crisis in Europe and end up hurting natural gas consumers in countries such as Germany.

I think Trudeau’s real motivation and cause for concern lies with events in Sri Lanka and the Netherlands. Trudeau and other of Ukraine’s so-called allies have used the Russian aggression to advance their ruinous green agendas.

Germany is critical to the anti-Russian alliance. Trudeau and Germany are committed to the same policies i.e. “organic” farming that helped ruin Sri Lanka’s economy and now threaten Dutch farmers. If the Germans start rioting because they’re freezing this winter all their green-scam plans will be scuppered along with the alliance and their pretend sanctions.

So the gas has gotta flow to keep Germany in on the green-scam lest the remaining nations fall like dominos.

And Ukraine be damned because Russia needs the gas revenue to finance the war.

Hatred And Virtue In Wartime Ukraine

In a minivan driving from the EU border to Lviv, a U.S.-educated Ukrainian quizzed me about my family. My wife, I told him, was brought up in Siberia but born in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, then part of the Soviet Union.

“So, she’s Ukrainian,” he advised me.

The man was in his mid-20s, perhaps, and spoke rapid-fire English. I’d met him in an “International Legion” tent on the border that offered — with a sign translated into 12 languages — help to foreigners volunteering to fight the Russian advance, a sensitive role that made him an obvious target for Russian spooks.

Ukrainian group asks federal court to stop Trudeau’s return of Russian gas turbine

OTTAWA – After being condemned by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the federal government’s decision to suspend sanctions against Russia to allow the export of a gas-pipeline component prompted an international Ukrainian group to take legal action on Tuesday.

The federal Liberal government relented to pressure from the German government to send a turbine, which had been undergoing maintenance in Montreal, back to Russia where it can be installed into Russia’s Nord Stream pipeline, which carries natural gas to Europe.

Western sanctions are already crumbling – Canada has announced that it will ‘exempt’ Russia over a gas turbine

On Sunday 10th of July 2022 a news story broke that went largely undiscussed in public. Canada announced that it would break the Russian sanctions and release a gas turbine that was needed to ensure that the Nord Stream 1 pipeline was functional. By clearly signalling that the sanctions against Russia will be broken whenever required, it is obvious that sanctions will not be lasting for a long time.

Trudeau’s deal covering repair of Russian-owned turbines is for a longer period than previously disclosed, sources say

The Canadian government’s deal to allow the repair of Russian-owned turbines covers a period of up to two years from now and would allow the import and re-export of up to six units – a far more extensive arrangement than had previously been disclosed.

Two government officials told The Globe and Mail on Tuesday that Global Affairs Canada granted the German industrial giant Siemens Energy an exemption under Canada’s Russia sanctions for two years. This allows the company to send turbines from Nord Stream 1, a pipeline majority-owned by Russian state controlled Gazprom, to Siemens Canada’s facilities in Montreal for regular repair and maintenance.

One of the officials stressed that the arrangement with Siemens allows the Canadian government to revoke the sanctions-relief permits at any time. The Globe is not identifying the officials, who were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Himars rockets strike fear into Russians: ‘This is just the beginning’

Military blogger says strikes by the US-supplied High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems are so accurate they can ‘land on a penny’

US-supplied Himars rocket strikes are so accurate they can “land on a single penny” and Russian forces should be prepared for a “hammering” over the coming weeks, a blogger who witnessed a strike reported.

“Yesterday I happened to witness a Himars strike on Chernobayevka in Kherson, practically in front of my eyes,” Roman Saponkov, a Russian military blogger embedded with frontline Russian forces wrote on Telegram on Monday.

“I’ve been under fire many times, but I was struck by the fact that the whole packet, five or six rockets, landed practically on a penny,” he wrote on Telegram. “Usually MLRS lands in a wide area, and at maximum range it completely scatters like a fan. It makes an impression, I won’t dispute that.”
