If China Cracked U.S. Encryption, Why Would It Tell Us?

When Alan Turing cracked the Enigma code during the Second World War, neither the United Kingdom nor the United States immediately published a paper announcing the achievement. Instead, they kept it to themselves so they could keep reading Nazi messages encrypted using Engima machines. Last month, in contrast, Chinese academics from government-run laboratories and research organizations published a paper claiming to have developed a new mathematical strategy to break RSA encryption, today’s standard.

If the Chinese government can crack RSA encryption, then they can break into every U.S. government and private sector system, seeing and exfiltrating anything and everything, achieving true information dominance over Washington and its allies and partners.

An NDP MP has failed in his bid to convince the House of Commons to drop what they’re doing in order to condemn the “invade Canada” bombasts of a Fox News host.

I’m good with that.

Joe Biden – He ain’t in charge of anything except Window Licking

The president’s green protectionism is freezing out his allies

A trade war is brewing between the United States and its closest allies. When Thierry Breton, the EU’s internal markets commissioner, pulled out of a summit with US officials just before Christmas, he complained that the agenda ‘no longer gives sufficient space to issues of concern to many European industry ministers and businesses’. A few days before, Emmanuel Macron cornered senator Joe Manchin in Washington DC. ‘You’re hurting my country’, the French president told Manchin. The senator was given a similarly frosty reception at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where Germany’s Olaf Scholz and Luxembourg’s Xavier Bettel accosted him caustically.

The Europeans are upset about Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), written by Manchin’s office, which commits $370 billion (£300 billion) to clean energy projects based in North America.

More than 2,000 rabbis write to Speaker McCarthy urging him to kick Ilhan Omar off Foreign Affairs Committee

A group representing more than 2,000 rabbis are affirming their support for keeping Representative Ilhan Omar off the Foreign Affairs Committee as a ‘step’ toward snuffing out antisemitic speech in the U.S.

In a letter to Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York, the rabbis wrote requesting the House ‘follow through’ on Republicans’ pledge to remove the Minnesota Democrat from the committee on which she currently serves.

The communication from the Coalition for Jewish Values comes as some GOP members of the House have expressed they would not back McCarthy’s plans to strip Omar of her panel assignment.

Curtains for The Cackler? Washington Post Is ‘Worried’ About Kamala Harris

Many observers have noted that the sudden revelations about Old Joe Biden’s storing classified documents in his garage indicate that the people who are really running President Dementia’s administration have grown tired of their frontman. Even the New York Times recently signaled that it was ready to move on from Joe with a more-in-sorrow-than-in-anger lamentation about how much the documents scandal damaged the superannuated president’s future prospects. But the same elites don’t seem to be exactly thrilled with Kamala Harris, either. The Washington Post confirmed that on Monday with an article entitled “Some Democrats are worried about Harris’s political prospects,” which means that it’s the Bezos Post that’s worried. The subtitle? “At a pivotal point in Biden’s term, many party activists are not sure the vice president has shown she is up to winning the top job.” Looks like it’s curtains for The Cackler.

Vending machines with lifesaving drug grow as opioid crisis rages in US

The police chief of the small Kentucky city of Vine Grove knew from heart-rending experience why he needed a vending machine outside his office.

Kenneth Mattingly’s daughter was twice brought to the brink of death by heroin and twice pulled back by paramedics carrying an antidote, naloxone. Then Mattingly responded to an opioid overdose call early last year at which a woman saved a friend’s life because she was carrying a naloxone spray, often known by its brand name Narcan.

China’s Top Nuclear-Weapons Lab Used American Computer Chips Decades After Ban

SINGAPORE—China’s top nuclear-weapons research institute has bought sophisticated U.S. computer chips at least a dozen times in the past two and half years, circumventing decades-old American export restrictions meant to curb such sales.

A Wall Street Journal review of procurement documents found that the state-run China Academy of Engineering Physics has managed to obtain the semiconductors made by U.S. companies such as Intel Corp. and Nvidia Corp. since 2020 despite its placement on a U.S. export blacklist in 1997.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) — A northern Virginia man convicted nearly a decade ago of supporting the Islamic State group as a teenager has now been accused of violating his terms of release by meeting with convicted Taliban supporter John Walker Lindh.

The document does not state where the meetings occurred. The meetings violate a condition of Amin’s supervised release, which bars him from meeting with known extremists, prosecutors said.
