American agents arrest 13 from Mexico and Vietnam trying to enter U.S. from New Brunswick

American officials say Border Patrol agents in Maine recently accused 13 foreign nationals – seven adults from Mexico and six from Vietnam – of illegally entering the United States from two locations in western New Brunswick.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency issued a statement Thursday saying human smuggling along the Maine-New Brunswick border may not be as big a problem as elsewhere along the U.S. border, but this “transnational criminal activity” is cause for concern.

The three men plotted to kill outspoken human rights campaigner Masih Alinejad in exchange for cash after a failed previous attempt by Iran to kidnap her.

The United States charged three suspected members of an Eastern Europe-based mafia organization with planning to assassinate Iranian-American activist Masih Alinejad at the behest of Iran, according to federal indictments unsealed Friday.

The U.S. Justice Department said the three men — Rafat Amirov, Polad Omarov and Khalid Mehdiyev, all of whom have been arrested — plotted to kill the outspoken human rights campaigner in July in exchange for cash after the failure of a previous attempt by Iran to kidnap Alinejad.

NYC: Mohammedan bike path terrorist Sayfullo Saipov convicted on all counts in deadly 2017 attack

The ISIS-inspired terrorist who killed eight people by ramming into them with a truck on a West Side Highway bike path in 2017 was convicted of a slew of terrorism and murder charges by a Manhattan federal jury Thursday.

The panel’s conviction of Sayfullo Saipov, 34, on 28 counts paves the way for the death penalty phase of the trial to begin — when jurors will decide whether he should be put to death for the murderous rampage.

The panel of three women and nine men deliberated for about six hours before returning the verdict to Judge Vernon Broderick.

I happen to be one who believes that the escalating war in Ukraine is entirely Biden’s fault, that the current Ukraine government is completely corrupt, and that the entire thing, which has seen tens of thousands of Ukrainian deaths and the destruction of large swaths of that country, has become a profitable boondoggle for politicians and military contractors. Call me cynical or naïve, but that’s where I am. I also think the whole enterprise has taken on a truly hallucinatory quality, exacerbated by the news today: Putin is negotiating to buy abandoned American weapons from Afghanistan while Biden is sending 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. We will have armed both sides to the battle.

Is it because they regard the former Republican president himself – who urged his supporters to “fight like hell” that deadly day – as too formidable and them as easier targets?

A professor at Hamline University, Erika López Prater, showed a picture of the Prophet Mohammed in class. The decision sparked a storm on campus after students reported the incident and the university refused to renew the professor’s contract. The case took place during an art history lesson. The lecturer had shown images of two paintings of Muhammad from the 14th and 16th centuries.

Medieval works are considered canonical. The teacher had given a two-minute warning to the class beforehand so that observant Muslim students could choose not to view the material for religious reasons. The case was reported by the university’s Muslim Student Association, which described the lecturer as an “Islamophobe” in an email to staff.
