The Chinese laboratory at the centre of suspicion over the origins of the coronavirus pandemic was awarded a patent for cages to hold live bats for testing just months before the virus started spreading.
The revelation comes after the World Health Organisation last week backed Beijing’s line, saying that a leak from the institute was ‘highly unlikely’, while giving credence to theories that the virus had entered the country via frozen meat.
“They showed us a couple of examples, but that’s not the same as doing all of them, which is standard epidemiological investigation,” Dominic Dwyer, an Australian microbiologist on the WHO team, told The Journal.
On the day of Joe Biden’s inauguration, The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that a positive test result alone is no longer sufficient to determine a Chinese coronavirus infection. Now the communist-tied organization states that a second test is required along with a clinical diagnosis. Under Biden’s new administration, the sudden changes in the WHO’s guidelines will most likely lead to a significant decrease in the number of positive cases.
Lasting from fall through late spring, the flu season has been something humanity has been dealing with for around 6,000 years. It wasn’t until the mid-1700s that an Italian coined the term “influenza,” a play on the idea that the virus was caused by “bad air.”
Humans have been dealing with some form of the flu for a long time, needless to say.
Yet, in 2020 (and now into 2021) something has changed. In September of last year, it was reported that the southern hemisphere had record low flu cases. In the United States, the CDC said the seasonal flu had all but vanished.
A team of scientists leading a World Health Organization mission to China to investigate the origins of the novel coronavirus is not looking to assign guilt to the communist regime over its failure to prevent the pandemic, a member of the delegation says.
