Is Prince Charles a republican sleeper agent? While the conventional wisdom has it that the Platinum Jubilee festivities showed us that the monarchy is secure for a generation at least, Charles seems determined to prove otherwise. His leaked comments over the weekend, condemning the government’s Rwanda migration policy as ‘appalling’, have reminded us that while Queen Elizabeth has done well to maintain an air of neutrality, Prince Charles simply cannot keep his mouth shut.

The Duke of York has asked the Queen to be reinstated as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, The Telegraph understands, as he pushes for a return to royal duties.

Prince Andrew has been lobbying the monarch for his status as a blood prince to be restored, meaning readmittance to official events alongside other members of his family.

He has also been pushing for his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, to be made working royals.

Like Harry he’s hell bent on destroying the Monarchy, not to mention Chuckie’s recent political meddling.

Harry and Meghan have been accused of ‘enormous hypocrisy’ after flying back to California from the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in a ‘Russian oligarch-style’ private jet.

The eco-preaching Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to their £11million Montecito mansion with their children Archie and Lilibet on a gas-guzzling Bombardier Global 6000 before the grand finale of the Jubilee pageant even began on Sunday.

Bombardier is an ‘ultra long range’ 13-passenger private jet which comes with its own ‘private stateroom’ that features a flatbed and can travel more than 6,000 miles without stopping. It is not clear who paid for the £160,000 flight.

The results, published today, showed Harry’s favourability score had dropped to -26, which means just 32 per cent of people polled see him in a positive light, compared to 58 per cent who think of him negatively.

‘Sustainable’ tourism patronises locals and travellers alike.

The jet-setting Prince Harry has a lot to say about how other people should live. So it is no surprise that his woke gaze has now turned to tourism – ‘sustainable’ tourism, naturally.

Travalyst is a new venture led by the Duke of Sussex, in partnership with big travel firms like Booking.com, Expedia, Google, Skyscanner, Trip.com, Tripadvisor and Visa. Its aim is to develop a ‘sustainability’ scoring system, which can bring about ‘the systemic changes needed in order for sustainable travel to be taken out of the niche and into the mainstream’. So far, it succeeds only in patronising locals and tourists alike.

Indigenous leaders met Prince Charles in Canada and asked for an apology from the Queen over the “assimilation and genocide” of indigenous schoolchildren.

RoseAnne Archibald, Assembly of First Nations national chief, said the prince “acknowledged” failures in handling the relationship with indigenous people.

Canada is dealing with a scandal which saw indigenous children die or be abused in residential schools.

I don’t see GB giving up its Royal tradition but I wonder if the Firm will cut all foreign ties of their own initiative. It must be a lot of bother being heckled everywhere you go and the woke nagging just isn’t playing well.

Constitutional monarchy serves us well — but its figureheads have a serious image problem

There was some tittering on the Internet last week when Prince Charles, opening a new session of the British Parliament on behalf of his ailing mother, relayed the government’s commitment to helping “ease the cost of living for families” while sitting upon a golden throne.

In fairness to Charles, he was only doing his job. For that matter, a case can be made that the event at the Palace of Westminster — what’s called the Queen’s Speech in the United Kingdom and the Speech from the Throne in Canada — was actually less ridiculous than the self-aggrandizing and airy State of the Union address the American president delivers each year.

The celebration of the Queen’s 70 years on the throne comes as the young question the monarchy’s purpose.

On the surface, the United Kingdom’s royal jubilees have been jolly affairs — all pomp and pageantry, marching bands and parading redcoats, bunting and commemorative souvenirs, street parties, warm beer and cake.

In this regard, undoubtedly, Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee next month, for which celebrations already began on Sunday, will be no different. But all royal jubilees also come with a sense of public apprehension — and this will once again be the case.

The first time the country celebrated a monarch’s jubilee in a significant public way was the Golden Jubilee in 1809 of King George III — the “mad king” who lost the American colonies. Loyal inhabitants of an Oxfordshire village decided to name every child born during the year either Jubilee George or Jubilee Charlotte, after the sovereign’s wife.
