Liberals push bill to let Canada Post open mail without a warrant

Conservatives are warning that a new Liberal bill giving postal inspectors the power to open Canadians’ mail without a warrant is unconstitutional and an attack on civil rights.

Bill C-2, An Act Respecting Certain Measures Relating To The Security Of The Border, would let inspectors open ordinary letters they consider suspicious.

That sounds like a very bad idea.

How can the owner of three B.C. malls and a mansion not be ‘a resident of Canada for tax purposes’?

Douglas Todd: Billionaire Weihong Liu, who is trying to buy up much of the troubled Hudson’s Bay Company, says she is a citizen of China. And that’s where she lists her current address

A Canadian court case has provided insights into the convoluted world of the trans-national rich.

Weihong (Ruby) Liu — who has acknowledged she was a leading member of business organizations in China created by the Communist Party to advance the government’s agenda — now owns three shopping malls and a golf course in B.C.

Often described by Canadian media outlets as a “Vancouver-based billionaire,” Liu has launched contentious court proceedings in Ontario to buy 25 store leases from Canada’s oldest retailer, The Hudson’s Bay Company, which is in bankruptcy protection. Landlords are opposing her bid, in which she says she is prepared to invest $469 million.

Kirk Shooting Unleashes Flood of Conspiracy Theories

These are the facts: On Wednesday, Sept. 10, conservative activist Charlie Kirk was addressing hundreds of people at an event at Utah Valley University when, around 12:23 p.m., an assassin fired a bullet that tore through his neck and killed him.

The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, had sent texts to his transgender lover confessing to the murder and suggesting a motive. “I had enough of his hatred,” one message read, referring to Kirk. “Some hate can’t be negotiated out.”

Jimmy Kimmel hosted just one right-leaning guest in past four years — and it came with a condition

An “incredibly pissed” Jimmy Kimmel failed to make a deal with his Disney bosses Thursday to return to the air — still balking at their push for him to publicly apologize for his Charlie Kirk remarks, sources say.

The furious ABC late-show host went to his lawyer’s office in Los Angeles that afternoon for a video meeting with Disney TV honcho Dana Walden and ABC late-night head Rob Mills to try to figure out a path forward for his show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” sources told The Post.
