Globe Platforms Weirdo Meat Haters

Happy meat won’t save the world. It may even distract from the real issues

When you last went to a restaurant, did you give the vegetarian dishes serious consideration? Despite knowing you’re “supposed to” eat less meat, did you glance at the tofu bowl, hesitate for a moment, and then choose the most tempting meaty option on the menu instead?

If so, you’re not alone.

Macron: Why I had to sue US influencer Candace Owens

President Macron said on Wednesday he was suing an American influencer who claims his wife Brigitte is a man to “defend his honour”.

Asked about his action for punitive damages against the hard-right political commentator Candace Owens, Macron, 47, said he was aware that he and Brigitte risked provoking a so-called Streisand effect — creating extra negative publicity by attempting to suppress it.

Medical Activists Try to Put Net Zero Considerations at the Heart of Cardiovascular Surgery

Major heart surgery is fraught with clinical danger and requires weeks of recuperation. But it is often a life-saving procedure, and various options to repair valves and widen arteries are available. The type of operation is determined on strict medical grounds based on factors such as age and health condition of the patient. The last thing you might need if faced with such a medical decision is some burk talking about climate change. Welcome to the Net Zero fantasy world, where a New York group of medical scientists and activists are suggesting such decisions could be partly based on saving the emission of greenhouse gases. The actual amount saved between two common operations discussed is said to be at most 390 kgs, about the same amount of carbon dioxide one human breathes out in a year. One human, it might be noted, among eight billion who live and breathe on the planet.

Newmarket man agrees to terrorism peace bond over alleged youth plot to join ISIS

Youth Plot …

A Newmarket man accused of plotting to leave Canada to join ISIS while still a youth has been ordered to sign a terrorism peace bond requiring him to remain in the country and avoid extremist material on social media, where prosecutors allege he became immersed in hateful content.

The now 19-year-old was arrested last December by the RCMP in connection with a terrorism investigation and was released from custody that same day on strict conditions pending the outcome of a peace bond application. His identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because he was a teen at the onset of the investigation.

Joining a bloodthirsty band of Muslim fanatics is not exactly a “Youth Plot”.

Inspired by Justin’s example.

An arbitrator has ordered that a white Toronto teacher who was terminated after he showed up at school in blackface for Halloween and told people he was dressed as a zombie should be reinstated and compensated for all wages and benefits lost in the last 20 months.

Gorian Surlan showed remorse for his actions, according to an arbitrator, who substituted a nearly two-year suspension for the high school teacher’s penalty. Surlan, who had been teaching for 19 years, came to work at Parkdale Collegiate Institute in black face makeup and black clothing on Oct. 29, 2021.

It may be offensive to say ‘husband’ or ‘wife’, council staff told

A London council has advised staff not to refer to married couples as husband and wife.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich council in southeast London has provided its staff with an inclusive language guide which suggests they use terms “spouse” or “partner” instead to avoid offending anyone who does not identify as a man or woman.

The 45-page booklet, obtained by The Sun through a freedom of information request, also asks the council’s employees to avoid welcoming “ladies and gentlemen” if they are running public meetings and events.
