Pope Leo criticizes political nationalism and prays for communism, open borders …er … reconciliation and dialogue

Pope Leo – Probably a communist like the last guy.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Leo XIV criticized the surge of nationalist political movements in the world as he prayed Sunday for reconciliation and dialogue — a message in line with his pledges to make the Catholic Church a symbol of peace.

The pope celebrated Sunday Mass in St. Peter’s Square in front of tens of thousands faithful, and asked the Holy Spirit to “break down barriers and tear down the walls of indifference and hatred.”

“Where there is love, there is no room for prejudice, for ‘security’ zones separating us from our neighbors, for the exclusionary mindset that, tragically, we now see emerging also in political nationalisms,” the first American pontiff said.

Orwell’s Old Magazine Acquired by Islam Channel Owner

George Orwell

Tribune, a historically significant magazine for Britain’s Labour movement which famously employed George Orwell as its literary editor, has been taken over by the Tunisian founder of a Muslim television channel.

The magazine this week said it was “pleased” with the acquisition by Mohamed Ali Harrath, owner of the Islam Channel, which was fined £40,000 (€47,500) by Ofcom in 2023 for content the broadcasting regulator described as “antisemitic.” Harrath is also the founder of the Tunisian Islamic Front. He was granted refugee status by the UK in 2000 after fleeing his country of birth.

Commons passes bill to shield dairy quotas in future trade deals

Bill C-202 prohibits the federal government from making trade commitments that would affect supply-managed sectors.

That is one powerful cartel.

Why was it OK all these years? …. Industry Minister Joly indicates crackdown on steel dumping into Canada coming in next few days

Industry Minister Mélanie Joly is indicating that a crackdown on dumping of cheap foreign steel into Canada is coming soon– a move that will help cushion the blow for Canada’s big three steel producers that are grappling with U.S President Donald’s Trump’s 50-per-cent tariffs.

Algoma Steel Group Inc. chief executive Michael Garcia has argued on multiple occasions that mills from China, South Korea, Malaysia, India, Vietnam, the Middle East and Turkey regularly dump steel into Canada and make it nearly impossible for the company to compete in its home market. In meetings with federal politicians over the past few few days, he’s pleaded for Canada to immediately place tariffs on all of these countries.

In a scene that could well sum up the ideological confusion of certain European governments, the Ministry of Social Affairs of Thuringia (Germany) has granted an official democracy award to a group within the Antifa sphere. The group, openly surprised, not only harshly criticized those who gave them the award but also accepted the money, stating it would be used to cover legal costs for antifascist activists.
