Protest outside Brampton Hindu temple targets alleged Indian state interference
A Hindu temple in south Brampton was the latest site of protest over the treatment of Sikhs in India and abroad.
On Chinguacousy Road near Queen Street West, dozens of protesters gathered under a sea of yellow flags emblazoned with “Khalistan” — the name given to the desired state, one separate from India, pushed for by Sikhs globally.
Across the street, worshippers peered out from the Triveni Mandir as others came and went for prayers, the protestors amplified shouts muffled by music playing over temple loudspeakers.
Young Canadians are increasingly miserable. Government priorities show why
Government budgets shape how we live – and how we feel. If you want to see the consequences of government policy choices, look at how Canadians now rate their life satisfaction.
For nearly two decades, the World Happiness Report has asked people around the globe to evaluate their happiness on a scale from zero to ten. The latest evidence for Canada is frightening.
Research by three Canadian academics shows that the average life satisfaction of younger Canadians – those under 30 – has fallen from 7.6 in the late 2000s to 6.4 in recent years. This steep decline, they report, “places Canada just above Venezuela, Lebanon and Afghanistan on the list of countries experiencing the greatest fall.”
It started with a flyer sent around on Snapchat. Teenagers were invited to gather at a south London basketball court to celebrate the start of the Easter holidays. They were told to bring their own weed and laughing gas because it was going to be a late one.
What followed in the hours after was chaos. Hundreds of young people came to the “link-up” last Saturday, and then gathered on Clapham High Street.
Shops in the area were overwhelmed, including a Marks & Spencer where videos appear to show teenagers fighting in the aisles. Some shopkeepers reportedly locked their doors, and fireworks were let off on Clapham Common.
Kids just wanting to met up … and loot
Personally, I would have required they all were arrested and their parents/carers come to collect them from police custody.
Contrary to comments and narratives being pushed by some, this is not a policing problem, but rather an insight into what the future may hold.

A federal electric vehicle rebate program is drawing scrutiny after records show the Dodge Charger will soon be the only Canadian-made vehicle eligible for incentives without a price cap.
Blacklock’s Reporter says documents tabled in the House of Commons by the Department of Transport indicate that, by year’s end, the Charger — built in Windsor, Ont. — will stand alone in qualifying for rebates on vehicles priced above $50,000.
Harrow School has many centuries-old traditions that make it a jewel in the crown of British education: straw hats, black tailcoats and its own form of archaic slang, where “beaks” means teachers and “the ducker” is the swimming pool.
Soon it will need to grapple with some new customs. Sir Winston Churchill’s alma mater is opening two schools in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this summer, where Muslim pupils recite the Koran and learn about beating their wives.

St Sebastian has been depicted as an Asian transgender man in a National Gallery installation.
Transgender models are retelling the story of the early Christian martyr, who was sent to be executed by archers.
When arrows miraculously failed to kill him, he was clubbed to death on the order of the Roman emperor Diocletian.

🇯🇵 A Muslim lady from the UK explains: "Japan is overrated. I don't like it because it's not Muslim friendly. Their rice is boiled in pork water".
Actually, one of the best things about Japan is exactly that: we're not Muslim friendly. 🤷🏻♀️ Too bad for you. pic.twitter.com/6oRYQGq8ei

If you attended school any time after the Nixon administration, then you likely beheld at some point the CIA World Factbook, a map and reference manual of Planet Earth and its inhabitants upon which nearly everyone could agree.
Maybe you read parts of it from a floppy disk or a CD-ROM for that social studies project due tomorrow. Or scanned its list of countries for Latvia, because that is the country you are representing next week in Model U.N. Even better, you wandered the earth in your imagination as you held the physical Factbook in your own hands, unfolding its maps and understanding, perhaps for the first time, that the thumbs-up gesture your friends flash each other is considered an obscene insult in parts of the Middle East, Europe and Argentina.
A pity, as a blogger I have relied on it on many occasions.
Two people have been arrested at a rally for Iran downtown on Saturday.
Officers arrested two males for assault and assault with a weapon around 2:30 p.m., according to a post from Toronto police on social media.
The “Rally for Justice” was organized by Hands Off Iran and the Muslim Community of the GTA to “build a strong, united presence against imperialist aggression and war.”

Canada’s largest oil refinery is looking for new supply options as the U.S. war on Iran threatens one of its most reliable, and long-standing, sources of crude oil.
Irving Oil recently got permission from federal regulators to use a foreign-owned ship to bring crude oil from Newfoundland’s offshore fields to Saint John, in southern New Brunswick.
Saudi Arabia has been the most reliable source of crude for Irving’s Saint John refinery since it opened in 1960, but Irving told regulators last month that this is no longer certain.
Armed police guarding Sir Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, have reportedly left a bag of guns outside his home.
An MP5 semi-automatic Heckler & Koch carbine, Glock pistol, Taser and ammunition were found on the kerb in south London on Tuesday evening.
Five officers have since been removed from front-line duties.
