‘Muslim Pride will be full of people just like me’

“It’s like no Pride I’m ever going to have known before.”

Ferhan Khan, a practising Muslim and non-binary queer man, is looking forward to an “unforgettable experience” at the UK’s first Muslim Pride event on Saturday.

“It’s going to be filled with people that are just like me and understand me and I don’t need to explain myself to them,” says the 39-year-old who uses they/them pronouns.

4 people found dead in southwestern Ontario town of Harrow

Update: Mom, dad, 2 kids were the four people found dead in rural Ontario home, mayor says

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after four people were found dead in the town of Harrow, just south of Windsor.

Essex OPP officers were called to a residence on County Road 13 at approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 20, where they located four deceased individuals.

Vaughan shooting: Four people injured in daylight shooting

Four people have been taken to hospital after a daylight shooting in Vaughan Friday morning, York police said.

Officers were called to the Woodbridge area of Davos Road and Fossil Hill Drive just before 9 a.m. for a shooting.

Two people reportedly have life-threatening injuries while the extent of the injuries of the other two is unknown.

Who or what is responsible for Hajj deaths?

Arabic-language social media has been flooded this week with shocking images from Saudi Arabia. The pictures and videos show people who were undertaking their once-in-a-lifetime Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca collapsed on the side of the road or slumped in wheelchairs, apparently close to death or dead. They are dressed in traditional pilgrim’s white, their faces covered with cloths. In several pictures, corpses appear to have been left where they presumably collapsed.

What started as a rumor on social media was confirmed as the weeklong Hajj pilgrimage ended: Hundreds of pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia, evidently due to extremely high temperatures and lack of shelter or water.

Public servants uneasy as government ‘spy’ robot prowls federal offices

A device federal public servants call “the little robot” began appearing in Gatineau office buildings in March.

It travels through the workplace to collect data using about 20 sensors and a 360-degree camera, according to Yahya Saad, co-founder of GlobalDWS, which created the robot.

“Using AI on the robot, the camera takes the picture, analyzes and counts the number of people and then discards the image,” he said.
