A badly-bruised Uber driver has appeared in court after being battered by a furious father who allegedly caught him raping his drunk daughter in a car.

Ahmed Ali, 58, had injuries to his face and bandages on both hands as he appeared in a Washington state courtroom on Monday.

A father-of-five himself, Ali is accused of kidnapping a woman who he picked up from a bar when she was too drunk to return home alone on Saturday night.

Trudeau’s lunatic EV strategy will cost $6B more than announced, PBO watchdog says

OTTAWA—Canada’s EV-building strategy will cost Ottawa and provinces about $6 billion more than announced, the federal parliamentary budget watchdog says.

A new report released by Parliamentary Budget Officer Yves Giroux says a total of $46.1 billion in government spending across the nascent EV supply chain has been announced. But the PBO estimates the total government support for capital and operating expenses to be up to $52.5 billion, which is $6.3 billion or 14 per cent higher than announced.

Numerous controversial videos have emerged of Biden during his visits to commemorate D-Day in France, attend the G-7 summit in Italy, and attend a recent fundraiser for his campaign that have raised questions about his age.

A group of Austrian citizens on Tuesday presented a set of proposals for redistributing the millions inherited by Marlene Engelhorn, a scion of the founder of the chemical giant BASF, Friedrich Engelhorn.

Marlene Engelhorn, 32, who also advocates for higher taxes for the rich, paid the group to devise the ideas for giving away the bulk of her €25 million ($27.4 million) fortune.

University of Oxford museum hides African mask that ‘must not be seen by women’

A University of Oxford museum will not display an African mask because the culture which created it forbids women from seeing it.

The decision by the Pitt Rivers Museum is part of new policies in the interest of “cultural safety”.

The museum has also removed online photos of the mask made by the Igbo people in Nigeria, which would originally have been used in a male-only ritual.

Family sues hospital because institution wouldn’t kill their daughter

The family of a Vancouver woman who was forced to transfer hospitals before she could receive medical assistance in dying (MAID) is suing the province of British Columbia and Providence Health Care, saying the health authority’s policy to ban MAID in its facilities violates patients’ Charter rights.

Gaye O’Neill, the mother of 34-year-old Samantha O’Neill, is the lead plaintiff in the case, along with Dr. Jyothi Jayaraman, a palliative care doctor who quit over Providence’s policy that bars patients from accessing MAID in its facilities.
