A Quebec mother of six who is being held in Syria is bringing the government to court over its decision not to repatriate her to Canada.

The woman and her children are among many foreign nationals being held in Kurdish-run camps for suspected ISIS members and their families.

The government agreed previously to repatriate the children but decided earlier this year not to repatriate the mother, citing security concerns.

Ontario town proposes bylaw banning any communication that could ‘offend’ LGBT individuals

Just days after the Million Person March against LGBT propaganda in schools swept the nation, the town of Waterloo, Ontario, is considering a bylaw prohibiting any communication on municipal property that could make LGBT-identifying people “feel harassed.”


On Wednesday, September 29, Waterloo Regional Councillors will vote on a bylaw to ban any communication on publicly-owned property which could make someone who identifies as LGBT “feel harassed,” “offended” or “troubled.”

Muslim advocates in Canada have expressed anger and concern at allegations that India may have been involved in the killing of a Canadian Sikh leader, stressing that Muslim and Sikh Canadians have long supported each other.

Last week, a diplomatic dispute escalated between Ottawa and New Delhi after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said his government was investigating “credible allegations of a potential link” between Indian government agents and the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

‘Speaker should listen to members of the House and step down’: Melanie Joly

OTTAWA — Senior Liberals are now calling for House Speaker Anthony Rota to step down for honouring a man who fought for a Nazi unit during the Second World War in the House of Commons.

Speaking on her way to a cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning, Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly said the incident was completely unacceptable and an embarrassment to the House of Commons. She said it is time for him to leave his post.

The CBC owns nearly half a billion dollars in real estate holdings, according to recently released documents, with more than two-thirds of the value comprised of its expansive downtown Toronto broadcasting centre.

A response to a May 2023 order paper question submitted by Conservative MP Adam Chambers about the government-owned broadcaster lists 12 corporation-owned properties across the country, a portfolio worth $444,414,469.

The Pope is wrong to criticise Europe over the migrant crisis

Pope Francis spent the weekend in Marseille where he admonished Europe for their attitude towards migrants. Specifically, the Pontiff took to task those who used words such as ‘invasion’ and ‘emergency’ when discussing the millions of migrants who have arrived in Europe in the last decade. ‘Those who risk their lives at sea do not invade, they look for welcome,’ he pronounced. Those who said otherwise were ‘fuelling alarmist propaganda’ and acting contrary to the teaching of the Catholic church.
