Cathedral starts silent disco nights to lure in younger worshippers

Ely Cathedral opened its doors to 800 ravers this week as it hosted its first silent disco in a bid to lure in younger worshippers.

The sell-out 1990s themed event at the medieval site was organised by Silent Discos in Incredible Places, and is part of a raft of measures to welcome a younger crowd and to boost the cathedrals finances.

“This is not my cathedral. It’s the cathedral for the people who live here,” the Very Rev Mark Bonney, the 35th Dean of Ely, told The Sunday Times.

“Marseille’s districts abandoned by the police” AKA Intensely hostile “NO GO Zones” established by drug gangs.
