‘Names have to be named’ in 2003 World Juniors sexual assault allegations, activist says

Six months after Halifax police opened an investigation into an alleged group sexual assault after the 2003 World Juniors hockey tournament in Halifax, a victims’ rights activist says well-paid current and retired NHL players are being protected — and she wants that to stop.
“I think that names have to be named,” said Judy Haiven, a retired professor, social activist and founder of Equity Watch, a non-profit organization set up to fight discrimination.
“Those young men who were in the 2003 juniors, most of them, probably all but one that I know of, went on to play in the NHL.”

University issues trigger warning of ‘racism’ for Sir Walter Scott’s Ivanhoe

Sir Walter Scott has been dragged into a racism row as his most famous novel is given trigger warnings which the author’s descendants have branded “cowardly”.
The Scottish writer became one of Britain’s most popular for his historical fiction, including the often-adapted epic Ivanhoe, which has now been deemed potentially “disturbing” by academics at the University of Warwick.
Scott’s work has been branded “offensive” in its treatment of racial minorities, but this has provoked a furious response from one of the author’s descendants, who has branded such criticism a “cowardly” response to “political fashion”.

Massive aquarium that exploded in German hotel lobby was a ‘ticking time bomb’ that was only designed to last 25 years, says expert

A German expert has said the aquarium that exploded in Berlin’s Radisson Blu hotel was a ‘ticking time bomb’ and the accident should have been predicted.
Hermann Schuranm, former owner of Schuran Seawater Equipment, said it does not surprise him that the tank shattered on December 16.
The rupture created a tsunami in the hotel lobby at 5.50am and killed 1,500 fish but miraculously it did not seriously hurt any guests.

The device’s memory card held the names, nationalities, photographs, fingerprints and iris scans of 2,632 people.

The artwork on the wall of a university meeting room had been a topic of discussion for years, with some students claiming that it both endorsed patriarchy and the act of smoking.
Predictions for the New Year … A cat will throw up in 2023

Nostradamus predictions for 2023: An antichrist arrives, World War III and the monarchy dies
As the year comes to a close, it’s time to talk doomsday forecasts, my babies, and no one grips us with grim quite like Nostradamus.
Nostradamus, Nos if you’re nasty, was a 16th-century astrologer, plague doctor, accused heretic and bearded seer that has been credited with foretelling the Great Fire of London, Hitler’s rise to power, the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and the COVID-19 pandemic, to name a few.
Sometimes on the money but more often than not muddily missing the mark, our man’s prophecies lean towards conflagration and catastrophe.
