The European Court of Human Rights rejected the appeal of former French presidential candidate Eric Zemmour, who was convicted in France for “inciting discrimination and religious hatred” over comments targeting the French Muslim community.
“The court held that the interference with the applicant’s right to freedom of expression had been necessary in a democratic society to protect the rights of others that were at stake,” the ECHR wrote in a statement released Tuesday.

New video has emerged of President Biden saying a revised version of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal his White House was brokering is ‘dead’ and claiming Iran has a nuclear weapon.
White House national security spokesman John Kirby shortly after confirmed the U.S. is not focused on the Iran deal, though he would not say it is ‘dead.’
‘The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is just not our focus. Right now. And it’s not on our agenda. We simply don’t see a deal coming together anytime soon while Iran continues to kill its its its own citizens and selling UAVs to Russia,’ he told reporters.

The Biden administration is set to dole out more than $550,000 in grants to develop an artificial intelligence model that can automatically detect and suppress microaggressions on social media, government spending records show.
The award, funded through President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, was granted to researchers at the University of Washington in March to develop technologies that could be used to protect online users from discriminatory language. The researchers have already received $132,000 and expect total government funding to reach $550,436 over the next five years.

CBS News has been called out by Fox and mocked by social media users after claiming airplane turbulence is caused by climate change.
CBS published a line on Monday about what causes turbulence after 11 people were seriously injured on board a Hawaiian Airlines flight last Sunday.
They quoted Taylor Garland, spokesperson for the Association of Flight Attendants, who claimed turbulence caused by severe weather is going to become more common due to climate change.

Climate activists sawed off the top of a giant Christmas tree at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin on Wednesday morning.
“We are only seeing the tip of the underlying disaster in Germany so far,” said Lilli Gomez, an activist from “Last Generation,” who conducted the protest.

I guess this particular story has been circulating for a while but I didn’t see it until it popped up at National Review today. A collection of academics at a university in Canada have partnered together for a project called “decolonizing light” which seeks to bring critical social justice to bear on the discipline of physics.

Joe Biden has launched a task force to investigate how US and western components are ending up in Iranian-made drones being used to wreak havoc in Ukraine.
Despite strict export controls in place to prevent Iran from obtaining such materials, evidence has emerged that Tehran is finding more than enough commercially-available tech – including US-made microelectronics – to manufacture the drones.
UK-based investigative organization Conflict Armament Research found last month that, upon examining drones downed in Ukraine, 82 percent of their components were made by companies in the United States.

Justin Trudeau dishes over beers about haters, the ‘Freedom Convoy’ and why he plans to stay on the job
… The dark side of “Freedom Convoy” protests, and populism: Trudeau said what troubled him wasn’t protesters who were not vaccinated against COVID-19 — he said many people in many communities were vaccine-hesitant “for cultural reasons, for religious reasons, for philosophical reasons,” or because they spent too much time on the “wrong websites.” His bigger concern was the spread of misinformation or disinformation and those who “preyed on people’s fears.” Trudeau said it represented a risk to Canadians who were wrongly told vaccines were more harmful than COVID-19. “It’s more of a deliberate attempt to destabilize, to fundraise, to make money off of people’s fears, to shift the narrative, to undermine their trust in institutions … to just sow chaos in our democracy, in our society and (they) are using very, very powerful tools to do that, that social media and the online world have developed in a way that actively and deliberately harms Canadians.”

“An apple, a mango or even a can of shaving foam, we are used to finding unusual objects inserted where they shouldn’t be,” one doctor declared. “But a shell? Never!”
The case left doctors shell shocked.
A French hospital was partially evacuated Saturday after a senior citizen arrived with a World War I artillery shell lodged in his rectum.
The 88-year-old patient visited Hospital Sainte Musse in Toulon to have the antique explosive removed — but instead sparked a “bomb scare,” French publication Var-Matin reported.

… Call yourself an “American”? Please don’t. Better to say “U.S. citizen,” per the bias hunters, lest you slight the rest of the Americas. “Immigrant” is also out, with “person who has immigrated” as the approved alternative. It’s the iron law of academic writing: Why use one word when four will do?

A US government-funded nonprofit known as “the mountain retreat for the liberal elite” sponsored a “tabletop exercise” intended to influence coverage of a leak of documents related to Hunter Biden, the latest installment of Elon Musk’s “Twitter Files” reveals.
In a series of tweets Monday, independent journalist Michael Shellenberger posted confidential documents from the Aspen Institute’s September 2020 event, which he said was attended by Twitter’s then-head of trust and safety, Facebook’s head of security policy and top national security reporters from The New York Times and The Washington Post.
