Video has emerged showing a Tesla driver appearing to be asleep behind the wheel while travelling more than 100 km/h on a busy Ontario highway.
Louise Lesser said she was driving on the Queen Elizabeth Highway near St. Catharines around 7 a.m. on Friday when her partner looked over and thought the white Tesla in front of them didn’t have a driver.
Technology is so fabulous.

Police demanded an annual Afro-Caribbean festival in London — billed as Europe’s largest street party — be suspended after widespread violence, with one officer even being sexually assaulted while policing the event.
London police are calling for the tradition of the city’s annual Notting Hill carnival to end after this year’s festival saw large numbers of stabbings, assaults, and one murder.

The College Fix notes that Yale professor Theodore Kim has received a $1 million grant from the Bungie Foundation to address racism in video games, including hair. A press release from Yale states that algorithms used to generate characters are largely based on European features, and Kim will use the grant “to develop new tools and algorithms to bring inclusivity to the digital screen.” Kim states, “This research will serve as an example of how to identify the products of systemic racism in computer graphics and demonstrate how to take concrete steps to ameliorate their harm.”

Environment Canada says online reports of ‘climate police’ are false
Environment and Climate Change Canada is responding to online reports it says are falsely accusing the ministry of recruiting officers to police climate change.
“We are aware of some misleading reports on social media suggesting that we are creating a new enforcement function,” the ministry wrote in a series of tweets on Thursday.
“This is false and the record needs to be set straight.”

Democrats melt down after CNN hosts criticize Biden speech
Democrats had an online meltdown after hosts from their leftist network CNN dared question President Biden’s use of the military during his fiery primetime attack on his Republican rivals.
Hosts Brianna Keilar and Jeff Zeleny were just a few of the people upset at the commander-in-chief using Marines to back him during his speech — sparking demands for their axing and an outright boycott of the left-wing network.
“You are clearly a shill for the RNC,” one person whose Twitter bio includes a #BidenHarris2020 hashtag tweeted Zeleny just for saying that using the Marine Band was “a break with White House traditions.”

UK aid spending is encouraging hunger-stricken Africans to eat insects, with projects aiming to develop the practice in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zimbabwe.
Edible insects have long been touted as a resource-efficient source of protein, requiring less land and water than conventional livestock. However, taste and cultural resistance have proved to be stumbling blocks in extending the practice in many parts of the world.
In a move to realise the substantial on-paper benefits of insect-eating, a £50,000 UK aid project in the DRC is putting African caterpillars, migratory locusts and black soldier flies on the menu.
Governments encouraging the Eating of Bugs is a conspiracy according to the CBC.

Donald Trump launched a seething attack on President Joe Biden where he branded him ‘insane’ and asked if he was ‘suffering from late stage dementia’ after the president claimed he was a ‘threat to democracy’.
The furious former president took to his Truth Social account to slam the ‘awkward and angry’ speech outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia – and called on someone to explain to his successor what MAGA means, ‘slowly but passionately’.
The late night rant also saw him accuse the 79-year-old of ‘threatening America, including with the possible use of military force’ as he fought back at the brutal address to the nation.

Leaders of a Yale University orientation program are apologizing for participants who helped clear a homeless encampment, which they call an act of “violence.”
A group of students in Yale’s community service-driven FOCUS program were assigned to help the New Haven Department of Parks and Trees to collect litter in the city. On Aug. 24, a department supervisor had students remove clothes and other debris from a homeless encampment the group said had been “forcibly evacuated” by police.

J.R.R. Tolkien was a devout Roman Catholic so you can probably guess his thoughts about homosexuality. When he created Middle Earth and all the characters in it, being gay wasn’t exactly a trait his characters had, especially the main characters.
Well that seals it. I won’t be watching this.
A division of the U.S. Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), the branch tasked with confronting China, has ordered its senior leaders and commanders to stop using gender pronouns in written formats, saying the shift to more neutral language will help improve the fighting force’s “lethality.”
“In accordance with the Diverse PACAF priority, ‘We must embrace, promote and unleash the potential of diversity and inclusion,” states a May email sent to senior leaders and commanders at the Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, which operates under the Pacific Air Forces, according to a partial copy of the order obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

OTTAWA – The trial of an RCMP employee accused of breaching Canada’s secrecy law has been delayed a year after a new defence lawyer took on his case.
An eight-week judge and jury trial for Cameron Jay Ortis had been slated to begin next week.
Ortis was taken into custody Sept. 12, 2019, for allegedly revealing secrets to an unnamed recipient and planning to give additional classified information to an unspecified foreign entity.
… Ortis, 50, had been represented by Ian Carter, but Carter was appointed as an Ontario Superior Court judge earlier this year.
I guess the cover up was taking longer than anticipated.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stood behind the country’s top civilian intelligence agency on Wednesday in response to an allegation that one of its contractors helped traffic three British teenage girls to Islamic State extremists seven years ago.
A new book by U.K.-based writer Richard Kerbaj — The Secret History of the Five Eyes — is set to be published on Thursday. It claims that an informant for the Canadian Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS) smuggled Shamima Begum, 15 at the time, and her school friends Kadiza Sultana and Amira Abase — 16 and 15 at the time — into northern Syria, and that the informant told his Canadian handlers.
