Canada urges gay and bisexual men to reduce their sexual partners to stem monkeypox.
The federal government is asking gay and bisexual men to reduce their number of sexual partners to curb the spread of monkeypox. But community health workers and advocates say that spread is being fuelled by the lack of government support, financial and otherwise, for those who are at risk.
“The Public Health Agency of Canada recommends practising safer sex (and) having fewer sexual partners, particularly anonymous partners, even when they don’t have symptoms, can also reduce your risk of getting infected,” said Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, at a news conference Wednesday. Tam also stressed the value of vaccination in thwarting the disease.
Graeme Lamb, a union steward of Steamworks Baths, a bathhouse in Toronto’s Gay Village, responded by saying, “Monkeypox is not spreading because gay men are having too much sex. It’s spreading because we have not had governments that are willing to commit the resources that are necessary to stop it from spreading and stopping it from causing people a lot of pain.”
Because you need cash to refrain from random sex and get an available vaccine for a widely publicized affliction targeting Gay men.

Window is closing to stop monkeypox spread, experts say
LONDON – Scientists advising the World Health Organization (WHO) on monkeypox say the window is closing to stop its spread, with cases currently doubling every two weeks, raising concerns that it will take several months for the outbreak to peak.
WHO Europe has forecast just over 27,000 monkeypox cases in 88 countries by Aug. 2, up from 17,800 cases in nearly 70 countries at the latest count.
Making predictions beyond that are complex, scientists around the world told Reuters, but there is likely to be sustained transmission for several months and possibly longer, they said.

A woman was bit by a ‘protective’ monk seal off a beach in Hawaii after wildlife officials urged swimmers to avoid the area since a seal had given birth to her baby pup weeks prior.
The attack took place on Sunday morning around 8 am at Kaimana Beach in Waikiki on the island of O’ahu.
The female swimmer, who was not identified, is about 20 feet into the water when suddenly the monk seal emerges and starts to attack.

Florida rapper shot dead in front of home after daring critics to confront him
Florida rapper Rollie Bands was gunned down outside his Tampa apartment complex Friday minutes after he dared his critics to confront him at his house in an Instagram post.
“A lot of these n****s know where I live at fr,” the rapper wrote on his Instagram Story, according to HipHopDX. “I sleep in peace. If a n***a want smoke I’m at my crib in 5 mins.”
Just five minutes after his post, at around 3:30 p.m., the rapper was shot once in the parking lot of his apartment complex. He was rushed to an area hospital, but couldn’t be saved.

Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair and RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki told a House of Commons committee Monday that they did not interfere in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police investigation into the 2020 mass shooting in Nova Scotia.
“Let me begin, and let me be clear. I did not interfere in the investigation around this tragedy,” Lucki told members of the House of Commons public safety and national security committee.
“Specifically, I was not directed to publicly release information about weapons used by the perpetrator to help advance pending gun control legislation.”
