GOLDSTEIN: Mark Carney and the magical, mystery decreasing deficit

GOLDSTEIN: Mark Carney and the magical, mystery decreasing deficit

Given that those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it, the fact that Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne reported a drop in last year’s projected deficit from $78.3 billion to $66.9 billion — a decrease of $11.4 billion — in Tuesday’s spring economic statement should surprise no one.

It’s an old trick used by finance ministers for decades, regardless of political stripe, but perfected by the Jean Chretien Liberal government from 1993 to 2003.

NPR ‘Extremism Correspondent’ Claims WHCD Shooter Is a…’Mainstream’ Violent Extremist?

NPR “domestic extremism correspondent” Odette Yousef has a consistent pattern of finding extremism only on the “far right.” When Cole Tomas Allen shot up the White House Correspondents Dinner, that was somehow not left-wing extremism, as NPR’s headlines over Yousef’s reportage/camouflage from Monday’s All Things Considered claimed:

Shooting suspect’s online presence belies claims of ‘radicalism’

There’s a Name for What They’re Doing to Donald Trump

There’s a Name for What They’re Doing to Donald Trump

Once upon a time, there was a societal pact in this country that, when a depraved lunatic committed an atrocity, no one would breathe a word of his motives, speech, or writings. When Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold kicked off the school shooting craze at Columbine High School in 1999, we didn’t speak of what they thought they were accomplishing. Their so-called basement tapes were never publicly released, and authorities destroyed them in 2011. “Law enforcement officials have always regarded the tapes as a particularly infectious form of toxic waste, a primer in mass murder that could inspire more violence and must never be released,” reported the Colorado Freedom of Information Coalition.

Conservative MP in Kitchener, Ont., says Liberals tried to convince her to cross the floor

An Ontario Conservative MP says she will not be crossing the floor anytime soon, despite an attempt from the Liberal Party to poach her.

She disagrees.

Nolte: ‘Tilly Tax’ Floated to Protect Crybaby Actors from Being Replaced by AI

Nolte: ‘Tilly Tax’ Floated to Protect Crybaby Actors from Being Replaced by AI

The latest (dumb) idea floating around to protect actors from AI is something called the Tilly Tax, or a tax that tries to remove the incentive of choosing an AI-generated actor over a human actor.

Over at Forbes, Dr. Lance B. Eliot, an AI scientist, has written a truly superb article that looks at this tax scheme from all angles. Unlike most of the analysis you see about AI vs. Hollywood, Eliot’s write-up is informed, comprehensive, and loaded with the kind of context the entertainment media are afraid to highlight.

Ontario records largest unemployment rate increase in Canada

Ontario saw the largest unemployment rate increase in the country for the second year running, according to its financial watchdog, which also found that new jobs are still being created in the province.

A new report from the Financial Accountability Office of Ontario found job creation slowed in 2025, with 80,900 jobs created last year.

That figure is a drop from the year before and the slowest pace of job creation since 2015, excluding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Golders Green terrorist is Somalian Essa Suleiman who suffers “mental health issues” and is of course known to the counter-terror program

The BBC understands that the suspect being held after the Golders Green knife attack yesterday is 45-year-old Essa Suleiman from south-east London.

He was born in Somalia, but came to the UK as a child in the early 1990s. He came legally, and is now a British citizen.

The Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mark Rowley previously said he had a “history of serious violence and mental health issues.”

So just a regular Muslim then.

LILLEY: Mark Carney Liberals relying on old ideas instead of seeking bold change

LILLEY: Mark Carney Liberals relying on old ideas instead of seeking bold change

Despite claims that “Canada’s new government” is being run by prudent fiscal managers, Ottawa still has a spending problem. In many ways, the spring economic update is proving something the Conservatives have been saying for months and most Canadians were not believing.

Mark Carney’s government is a lot like Justin Trudeau’s government and that includes their interventionist economic view and out-of-control spending.

Trump and Putin discuss wrapping up Ukraine war without Zelensky’s input

TRUMP TO PUTIN: ‘I WANT TO END YOUR WAR’: In a phone conversation that lasted more than 90 minutes, Russian President Vladimir Putin told President Donald Trump that he’d like to help the U.S. get Iran’s enriched uranium out of the country, but Trump said he replied, “I’d much rather have you be involved with ending the war with Ukraine.”

Despite Russia’s overt support for Iran, and intelligence that suggests Moscow has provided Iran both with drone and targeting information to kill Americans, an aide to Putin said “the conversation ended on a warm note, wishing each other all the best.”

Integrity commissioner says her office is overwhelmed with complaints about Carney government

OTTAWA — The regime to investigate wrongdoing and protect whistleblowers within the federal government is on the verge of collapse under a relentless surge of allegations and complaints, Canada’s integrity commissioner says — and this week’s fiscal update did nothing to address the growing problem.

Sitting down inside her sparsely decorated office near Parliament Hill on Wednesday, public sector integrity commissioner Harriet Solloway described how her team of nine investigators and seven lawyers is drowning under a deepening caseload it doesn’t have the resources to get under control.

How America can survive low immigration

How America can survive low immigration

… Conventional wisdom tells us that immigration is always good for the economy. But countries such as Britain and Germany have recently managed to combine historic levels of immigration with stagnant growth. The Econ 101 crowd may be sticking to a textbook that is badly out of date. But one point is clear: If you are going to slash the number of migrants, you need to make sure your existing population is working as hard as possible.

Canada is as bad as England or Germany. The Liberal party has lied about the economic benefit of mass immigration by focusing on GDP as opposed to GDP per capita which is a truer measure of a nation’s wealth.

The LPC  like their Democrat counterparts criminally exploited Canada’s immigration policy to line their pockets and skew voter demographics in their favour.

This ‘New Government’ has no interest in arresting our economic decline

This ‘New Government’ has no interest in arresting our economic decline

If you have been wondering what meaning to attach to that irritating phrase the Carney Liberals use to describe themselves, “Canada’s New Government” – which was irritating enough when it was first employed, under Stephen Harper, when it was actually a new government – wonder no longer. As this Spring Economic Update makes abundantly clear, it means nothing whatever. Or next to nothing.

Coyne sounds near sane!
