Are we becoming Nigeria? Ringleader of $30M grandparent scam network preying on unsuspecting seniors finally arrested

Gareth West – Grandma Scammer

The ringleader of a $30 million scam network that preyed on seniors across a staggering 46 states has finally been arrested and now faces decades in prison for the alleged fraud.

Gareth West of Canada was taken in custody Friday for the scamming ring, in which callers phoned the older Americans, pretending they were their grandchildren who had been arrested or hurt and were desperate for cash, according to the Economic Times.

The worried elders were pressured to act fast and not tell other family members about the dire situation.

RUBENSTEIN: Kamloops burial story only questioned by Parks Canada

Traditional Fake Graves Money Dance

On February 12, 2025, Parks Canada announced the designation of the Kamloops, B.C. Indian Residential School as a national historic site. Surprisingly, it omitted any reference to the alleged graves containing 215 missing children in an adjoining apple orchard.

“The Kamloops Indian Residential School was the largest institution in a system designed to carry out what the Truth and Reconciliation Commission described as cultural genocide,” Parks Canada said in a statement. No reason was given for omitting reference to unmarked burial sites.

EU Climate Goals: Pure Placebo Politics

Europe’s economy is buckling under the pressure of climate regulation. Now the European Commission has signaled it may gradually revise its targets.

The industrial math in Germany is unforgiving. Electricity prices for industry are up to 300 percent higher than in the United States. Even France, with its nuclear-backed energy mix, faces double the industrial electricity costs compared to American competitors.

The economic pain is reflected in the data. The Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for the construction sector in the eurozone — an early indicator of economic sentiment — fell to 45.6 in May. The PMI for manufacturing dropped to 49.5 in June. Any figure below 50 signals contraction.

Climate change deindustrialization will bankrupt Europe — and not actually impact climate change. – Small wonder Carney wants closer ties to the EU.

Inside the alleged Indian intelligence plot to kill Sikhs in Canada and the U.S.

Two officers with a U.S. task force, one of them a special agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the other a detective with the New York City Police Department, had flown to the Czech Republic for the anticipated takedown of a man wanted in an extraordinary, politically sensitive murder-for-hire case.

The U.S. officers knew exactly when their target was to arrive in Prague on a flight from India and had given all the details to Czech authorities. International paperwork requesting the arrest and extradition to New York had already been sent for their wanted suspect: Nikhil Gupta, 53, known as Nick.

How Trump’s Moves Have Reshaped Canada’s Path

The Trump administration has had a significant global impact, particularly in disrupting the status quo in international trade. But its northern neighbour—with whom the United States shares deep economic and historical ties—has experienced transformative changes on multiple fronts as a result of Trump’s presidency, including shifts in domestic policy.

It is something Prime Minister Mark Carney has recognized, calling Trump “transformational” when the two met at the White House in early May.

Welcome to Europe’s pro-Iranian madhouse

When gays and trans people want to ally with those who hang “infidels,” history laughs at them with tears in its eyes.

The average left-wing intellectual, as the unmatched George Orwell observed, “never condemns violence as such, but only violence used in defence of Western countries.”

India Willoughby announces on X: “I could live in Iran. Better trans rights than in the UK and US.”

India is a trans rights activist. Her earlier tweet (“I never thought I’d say this, but #TeamIran”) triggered author J.K. Rowling, who doesn’t hold back: “India, fan of a regime that hates women and gays? How astonishing!” Rowling even offered to pay for her ticket to Iran.

Luxury Beliefs Might Win the Mayor’s Mansion

Last week, 33-year-old socialist and state assembly member Zohran Mamdani declared victory in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary. Mamdani defeated Andrew Cuomo and several other candidates, thanks to a coalition defined by what I’ve called “luxury beliefs”—ideas that win applause from the affluent but often impose real costs on everyone else.

The influence of luxury-belief voters has become a defining pattern in the modern Democratic Party. Working-class constituencies are being displaced by highly educated elites who champion policies with major downsides that they can largely avoid.

The (alleged) anatomy of the $10-million heist that rocked Canadian music

At the exact moment on June 11, 2024, that Canada’s musical cognoscenti gathered at a Toronto record store to celebrate the past year’s most significant albums, someone, or some group, was getting ready to siphon nearly $10-million from the music industry.

The non-profit Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings has, for four decades, collected money from the federal government and private radio broadcasters to fund programs to help musicians and their industry pay for recording, promoting and touring – recently to the tune of $30-million a year.

Iran’s Terrorist Regime Is Wounded, Not Dead —Watch It Carefully

Thanks to the courageous and unapologetic leadership of US President Donald J. Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, severe and long-overdue blows were dealt to the Iranian regime.

The United States and Israel reminded the world that tyranny can be confronted. Now comes the more difficult and longer-term task: making sure Iran’s regime does not rise again. That means crippling sanctions, backed by military readiness. That means exposing and dismantling Iran’s war machine, propaganda machine and foreign influence operations in Europe, America and Latin America, and preferably the regime itself. Iran is still a revolutionary Islamist state that sees the US as the great Satan, sees Israel as a cancer, and believes that its divine mission is to conquer and export its Islamist revolution to the West.

Carney’s ‘Build, Baby, Build’ Faces Pushback From Indigenous Groups

“Build, baby, build.”

Canada’s spin on the mantra has been a nationalist rallying cry of Prime Minister Mark Carney: Build “Canada strong.” Build a Canada less dependent on the United States. Build an “energy superpower.”

That means to build, and quickly, projects of national interest that could include oil pipelines, nuclear facilities, mines, power grids, ports, roads and railways — all of it to create a stronger domestic economy and increase trade with countries other than the United States.

The FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) on June 30 said that almost $15 billion was reported in losses in the “largest health care fraud” investigation in U.S. history, with officials charging more than 300 people in connection with the alleged scheme.

In a post on social media platform X, FBI Director Kash Patel wrote that $14.6 billion in losses were incurred, while $245 million was seized, as FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said in a separate post on X that hundreds of people were charged in the case.

Emigration up, immigration down: Trends contributing to slower population growth, says StatCan

The number of people leaving the country has been slowly increasing in recent years, according to recent data from Statistics Canada. Meanwhile, immigration levels are down in the wake of federal reductions. Both these trends are contributing to a larger picture of significantly slowing population growth, according to StatCan analysis.

StatCan includes Canadian citizens and permanent residents when it refers to emigration or emigrants — folks who leave Canada to reestablish their permanent residence in another country.
