Did You See Kamala Harris’ Fourth of July Post? Is the Woman Brain Dead Like Joe?

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is still coping right now. She lost the 2024 election to Donald Trump and has since been in the wilderness. Democrats are cool on her jumping back into the political ring, and her last election was a shambles. It doesn’t matter if she was the candidate from the get-go; she was awful. Her 2020 primary run was a preview of her not being ready for primetime—some people are just not meant to be president of the United States.

How Trump could make Canada better

As obnoxious as he is, Donald Trump may actually be doing Canada some good. His demands are forcing this country to rethink bad ideas, question sacred cows and brace itself for the challenges of the future.

Just this week, the U.S. President gave Prime Minister Mark Carney an excuse to jettison a wrong-headed tax on foreign tech giants. Because just about all of those giants are American, Washington has opposed it from the start, under Joe Biden’s administration as well as Mr. Trump’s. The heaps of money that were to flow to Ottawa from the tax would have come from the pockets of the millions of Canadians who use Amazon, Apple, Google or other digital providers. Higher taxes inevitably mean higher rates for consumers.

Funny how that works but the author still can’t shake the TDS.

What if killing Canada’s digital services tax is just the beginning for Donald Trump?

OTTAWA—Call it a prudent climbdown, a show of weakness, or an unavoidable concession. There are several ways to look at Prime Minister Mark Carney’s 11th-hour decision to cancel the federal government’s Digital Services Tax last weekend.

But what if it’s also a tangible example of exactly what Carney warned would happen?

Death by defenestration: only in Russia?

Thanks for the question. Defenestration is the act of throwing someone or something out of a window. The term was coined around the time of an incident in Prague Castle in the year 1618 which became the spark that started the Thirty Years’ War.

The word comes from the Neo-Latin de- (down from) and fenestra (window or opening).[ According to Tim Zadorozhnyy, writing in the Kyiv Independent, defenestration is Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s favourite method of getting rid of his opponents.

Automakers want Canada to scrap its EV sales mandate. What would that do to emissions?

When Prime Minister Mark Carney met with automotive sector CEOs Wednesday about U.S. trade negotiations, one of the key issues the industry said they wished to discuss was the government’s zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate.

The mandate requires a certain percentage of light duty vehicles — passenger cars, SUVs and trucks — that are sold to be either fully electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids, starting with 20 per cent in 2026 and rising to 100 per cent by 2035.

Brian Kingston, president and CEO of the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association, told CBC News on the way to the meeting that “the targets that have been established cannot be met” given current market forces.

Texas floods kill 24 people and leave many missing from girls’ summer camp

A major search and rescue operation is continuing through the night in Texas after flash floods killed at least 24 people and left many girls missing from a Christian summer camp.

There was little warning as the Guadalupe River rose 26 feet (7.9m) in less than an hour and flooding that followed swept away mobile homes, vehicles and holiday cabins where people were spending the 4 July weekend.

Rescue crews are still searching for up to 25 children who were among the 750 girls attending the Camp Mystic just outside the town of Kerrville 104km (64.0 miles) north-west of San Antonio.
