We all remember the scoldings.
Daily, we were told that the crisis of Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) was our fault. In some ways, it was true, but in most ways, it wasn’t.

British civil servants must stop helping Israel with “potential war crimes” in Gaza, union bosses have demanded.
The Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union, which represents almost 200,000 civil servants across Whitehall, has advised members to “stop all work within the civil service and its related areas which in any way potentially enables acts of genocide”.
It has pledged to support civil servants who refuse to work on Israel and demanded that mandarins be given legal immunity for aiding potential “war crimes”.
England, civil war or surrender?

TEL AVIV — Israel launched a devastating strike against Iran’s nuclear program early Friday morning, with missiles and drones devastating military targets throughout the country. Although Iran has vowed revenge — and indeed launched missiles on Friday — and already retaliated with more than 100 drones, the mood in Tel Aviv remains remarkably ataraxic.
As munitions soared towards Tehran in the middle of the night, a blaring emergency alert was sent to every phone in Israel, warning residents to obey further government instructions “in preparation for a significant threat.” Rumours had been swirling in the preceding days that an attack on Iran was imminent, so many recipients immediately understood what was happening, even without confirmation from the government announcements that came shortly afterwards.

The last time European leaders came together for a diplomatic gathering in Canada, it didn’t go so well.
At the Group of 7 meeting in 2018, a photo of a glowering President Trump, arms crossed as he was lectured by the German chancellor, went viral. At the end of the summit, in a tweet, Mr. Trump accused the Canadian prime minister of being “dishonest & weak” for vowing to retaliate against U.S. steel and aluminum tariffs. Then he ripped up the agreement the leaders had just signed.
This year, as the European leaders head to Canada again, with Mr. Trump back in office, they are hoping to avoid something even worse.

Iran has warned the United States, United Kingdom and France against assisting Israel to deter Tehran’s strikes, saying that their bases and ships in the region will be targeted if they do so.
American officials confirmed that the US military had helped to shoot down Iranian missiles headed for Israel, after Iran launched wave after wave of retaliatory missile strikes less than a day after Israel’s surprise attack on Friday morning. Britain was not believed to have been involved.
On Friday, it was reported that Britain is monitoring the safety of staff at the UK embassy in Tehran, fearing that they could be the target of reprisals as the US and Canada closed their missions.

The road to Tehran has been paved: IDF secures air route for stronger strikes on Iran
The Israel Air Force is now capable of operating without obstruction as far as Tehran, following what was described as the destruction of a majority of Iran’s air defense systems, security officials said on Saturday morning.
The reported elimination of Syria’s military capabilities, including those of Hezbollah, has further expanded Israel’s operational range and shortened flight paths to Iran.

Times Of Israel Feed– IDF: ‘Tehran is no longer immune; the Iranian capital is exposed to Israeli strikes’

California’s biggest city is no stranger to riots but the response to Trump’s migrant arrests shows civil disorder is now integral to urban politics — and both Democrats and Republicans are out to exploit that
Somewhere in Malibu, a mortician prepares Brian Wilson for his last performance. The California of the Beach Boys is long gone. The California of Silicon Valley is going — to Texas, where Elon Musk has moved Tesla’s headquarters; to Washington, where Big Tech is now fusing with Big Government; and down into a spiral of debt, dysfunction and disorder.
California used to be the world’s blue-sky future. Now it is America’s darkening present. The scenes from downtown Los Angeles are shocking but not surprising. If, as I did, you lived in a Democratic city in a Democratic state in the decade between the advent of the Occupy movement in 2011 and the apotheosis of George Floyd in the summer of 2020, you are accustomed to rioters burning cars and throwing stones, looters ransacking the Adidas and Apple stores, and police firing tear gas. This is how American politics now works.

More than half of Toronto residents say they are not confident they will be able to live a comfortable life in the city over the long-term, according to a recent survey.
The survey was conducted by Ipsos for the Toronto Region Board of Trade (TRBOT). It sought responses from 1,000 residents in Hamilton and Toronto between May 9 and 22.

Pete Hegseth revealed the Pentagon has drafted plans to take Greenland and Panama “by force if necessary”.
The defence secretary let slip the existence of the contingency plans during a heated exchange with Democrat Representative Adam Smith.
During a congressional hearing on Thursday, Mr Smith asked Mr Hegseth if it is “the policy of the department of defence that we need to be prepared to take Greenland and Panama by force if necessary”.

Mike Smith played basketball at university, went to nationals a few times, and today is a successful executive in Halifax. But his charmed life was upended when his marriage collapsed and his access to his three children evaporated.
Seven years ago, he and his wife of nearly two decades had an intense verbal fight. His wife left the house, called the police and reported Smith had a mental health disorder. According to his telling, when they arrived he was given an hour to vacate the premises or face arrest. When he initially challenged the demand, one of the officers told him, “She wants to come home with the children.”

Electric vehicle sales in Canada have fallen sharply after federal and provincial governments cut rebate programs, according to new figures from Statistics Canada.
Blacklock’s Reporter says the first quarter of 2025 saw the steepest drop in zero-emission vehicle sales since pandemic lockdowns.

President Donald Trump overturned California’s authoritarian ban on gas-powered vehicles on Thursday, signing a resolution approved by Congress last month.
California became the first state in the nation to pursue a phase-out of gas-powered cars, attempting to halt all new sales by 2035 and effectively force its citizens to purchase electric vehicles. After Trump’s move, Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., who is currently letting Los Angeles burn by not responding to riots there, signed a reciprocal order reaffirming the ban, while Rob Bonta, the state’s far-left attorney general, filed a lawsuit against the move.
