What it’s like being the ONLY white Britons left on the street where we’ve lived for 40 years

Last of the White People

There have been a lot of changes since Cathy Gyles and her husband Julian Serra moved into their modest Victorian terraced house more than four decades ago.

Since then, the couple have dedicated their lives to others as NHS workers looking after their community in the Highfields suburb of Leicester and beyond.

They have taken it for granted that those they have cared for and worked alongside have come from a variety of backgrounds.

The 2021 census revealed Leicester had become one of the first cities in the UK where white people are no longer the majority – with 59 per cent of its population coming from minority ethnic backgrounds.

Yet the data reveals a more startling statistic. Cathy, 64, and Julian, 60, are living in a neighbourhood where there are just three white Britons.

It already is an island of strangers.

Greta Thunberg will be forced to watch footage of herself , say Israelis

Greta Thunberg will be made to watch footage of Oct 7, say Israelis

Israel’s military has been ordered to show Greta Thunberg footage of Hamas’s Oct 7 2023 attack on southern Israel.

Israel Katz, the defence minister, on Monday congratulated the IDF for its interception of an aid boat carrying Ms Thunberg and 11 other activists before it could reach Gaza.

After confirming the passengers would be deported back to their home countries once the boat reached the Israeli port of Ashdod, he said he had instructed troops to “show the flotilla passengers the video of the horrors of the October 7 massacre”.

These numbers come with a margin of error ±2.5%.

Jake Fuss: What’s in a name? When it comes to political parties, not much

According to recent Canadian history, partisan branding has little to do with the actual policies implemented by governments, and it can cause real electoral problems when citizens make assumptions based on party brand.

Consider the recent examples of the provincial NDP in British Columbia, the federal Liberal Party, and Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives. All three governments have rapidly increased spending, consistently borrowed money, and either raised taxes or failed to meaningfully lower them.

US deploys Marines to Los Angeles as Trump backs arrest of California governor

LOS ANGELES/WASHINGTON, June 9 (Reuters) – The U.S. military will temporarily deploy about 700 Marines to Los Angeles until more National Guard troops can arrive, marking another escalation in President Donald Trump’s response to street protests over his aggressive immigration policies.

A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a battalion would be sent on temporary duty until more National Guard troops could reach the scene. For now, the Trump administration was not invoking the Insurrection Act, which would allow troops to directly participate in civilian law enforcement.

Restoring Law & Order is “Escalation”.

Woke reporter denies there are riots and looting in LA while chaos unfolds behind him

Mexico Provides Legal Aid to Illegal Migrants Arrested by ICE in L.A.

Mexico’s president is providing legal aid to the Mexican illegal migrants in Los Angeles who were recently arrested by ICE workplace operations.

The aid for detained illegal Mexican migrants is being provided via Mexico’s little-known network of consulates in many American cities. So far, there are no reports that Mexico is aiding any Mexicans arrested for rioting.

Sources with knowledge of the invite spoke to CBC News on the condition they not be named. The Saudi embassy has not confirmed whether bin Salman will make the trip to Alberta next week.

Derek Finkle: Pro-drug injection site activists were dangerously wrong on closures

“A lot more people are going to die.”

This was the dire prediction oft-repeated back in March by a busload of lawyers who supported a legal challenge filed by an injection site in Toronto that claimed recent Ontario legislation forcing the closure of sites within 200 metres of schools and daycare facilities violates the Charter rights of drug users.

Christopher Wray Lied: The FBI Was Targeting American Catholics

A US Senate investigation reveals that anti-Catholic animus in the FBI runs deep, and several unsettling questions remain.

Over two years ago, the nation’s top law enforcement agency landed in hot water when a memo leaked detailing plans to infiltrate and illegally spy on certain Catholic parishes and classifying American Catholics devoted to the Tridentine Mass as “Radical-Traditionalist Catholics” and “Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists.” The memo, drafted and approved by the FBI’s Richmond field office, caused outrage and initiated a series of congressional hearings, during which then-FBI director Christopher Wray attested, under oath, that the Richmond field office had acted alone in drafting the memo, which was never circulated or meant to be circulated to the FBI more broadly. Wray lied.

Are We in San Francisco?

Wednesday morning at the corner of Sacramento and Cherry. The three of us—me, the bus driver, and an elderly woman—peer into a parked bus with muted awe. Inside, an enormous man is shouting at a crumpled blanket. “Hey, HEY! Wake up! Get up!”

As it turns out, under the blanket lies a man wearing ripped clothing; he staggers to his feet at the third admonishment, limps out the door, and vomits. He has no idea where we are. “Are we in Sacramento?” he asks. “No,” says the enormous man, a Street Crisis Response Team “peer specialist” dispatched to respond to a report of an unresponsive adult male on the 33 bus. “We’re on Sacramento and Cherry. Presidio Heights. San Francisco. West Side.”

Toronto housing among least affordable on this global index.

A new global index suggests Toronto is among the world’s worst cities when it comes to housing affordability — as experts blame decades of policy missteps, development delays, and overwhelming population demand for the problem.

The 2025 Global Cities Index from Oxford Economics finds that as a result of Toronto’s expensive real estate market, residents “spend more of their income on housing than residents of nearly every other city in the world.”

While the federal government recently promised to eliminate the GST on first-time home purchases under $1 million, critics argue that restrictive housing policies, costly development charges and sluggish approvals have created a market that’s out of reach for most buyers.

Palestinians Weigh In: The Real Reason Hamas Wants To ‘Sacrifice’ Them

On the eve of the Islamic feast of Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice), Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya — in charge of the negotiations to release the hostages and reach a ceasefire agreement with Israel — delivered a speech in which he said: “Gaza has offered itself as a sacrifice for the Muslim ummah [nation] and deserves its full support in return.”

Why some Canadians are alarmed by Mark Carney’s pledge to act with urgency

Canadians elected Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal government based on its pledge to act with urgency and fix things — the country’s economy, its security and its standing on the world stage.

But with the unveiling of a bill to supercharge the economy and early efforts to improve the country’s adversarial relations with India and China, there’s growing concern that Carney’s plans to boost Canada could involve unsavoury trade offs.

Ask Indigenous leaders who were left out of “nation-building” meetings or were given just a week to comment on legislation that will fast track infrastructure projects reasonably expected to pass through their treaty-protected territories.

Amazing that some people believe Carney will act in anyone’s best interests other than his own.

Taxpayer-Funded NPR Makes Martyr Out Of Children’s Hamas Propagandist Ms. Rachel

The taxpayer subsidized “journalists” at NPR are propping up Rachel Accurso, a viral children’s “educator,” as the “modern-day” Mr. Rogers.

Except “Ms. Rachel,” his woke re-incarnation, is a sheltered middle aged woman who turned what seems to be a histrionic personality disorder into a $10 million internet grift.
