The War on City-Dwellers

‘Climate Change’: Grift of the Century, Part III

Despite President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on climate change, the World Economic Forum (WEF) and UN executives and bureaucrats doubled down this year at the poorly attended WEF gathering in Davos — could world leaders possibly be starting to catch on? — and proclaimed that nothing can stop their radical transformation of the world in the name of “climate change.”

“We are already collaborating at a scale where no one can stop; not one country, not one leader making a decision, because it’s just the right thing to do globally,” announced Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All.

Putin tells Trump he’ll seek revenge for Ukrainian drone strikes

President Putin “very strongly” set out his intention to retaliate against Ukraine for its devastating attacks on Russian airfields, President Trump said after they held a 75-minute phone call.

Putin’s determination to respond to Sunday’s drone assault signals an escalation of the war, which Trump vowed to end on his first day. Trump admitted that it was “not a conversation that will lead to immediate peace”.

The pair had last spoken on May 19, in a discussion Trump said went “very well” and would lead to immediate face-to-face Russia-Ukraine talks. Since then the fighting has only intensified.

Canada’s costly NATO reminder: membership doesn’t come cheap

Membership has its privileges, as the old American Express advertisement promised. But it also has steep costs.

Canada faced a potential multibillion reminder of this as defence ministers gathered Thursday at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

They had come to set the stage for annual leaders’ summit in The Hague later this month where talk of defence spending will dominate the agenda.

ABC News: Musk Killed 300,000 Kids, Knows How Trump Stole Election

You would think that an ABC News program like The View would have some sort of journalistic standard they needed to meet, but that clearly wasn’t the case during Wednesday’s episode. In their opening segment flinging crud at Elon Musk, co-host Sunny Hostin claimed he had killed nearly 300,000 children and co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar hinted that he knew how President Trump stole the 2024 presidential election.

Carney and Trump are holding direct talks to drop tariffs: sources

Prime Minister Mark Carney and U.S. President Donald Trump are having direct discussions to reach a trade deal and lift tariffs, according to sources with knowledge of their talks.

It is unclear how often the two have communicated since Carney’s visit to the White House last month, but a source with direct knowledge of the calls said the conversations are aimed at reaching an agreement on the trade war launched by the U.S. against Canada.

Mexico Sued the U.S. Gun Industry. Supreme Court: Absolutely Not

We all know that Mexico has become an incredibly violent place, especially over the last decade, due to a rise in cartel activity and organized crime. So, what has the Mexican government done to combat this? Well, not much, but back in 2021, it decided it would sue several gun makers and distributors here in the United States for at least $10 billion.

Canadian cities are becoming more lawless than the U.S.

Despite Canada’s reputation as a safer version of the U.S., newly compiled data is showing that crime has worsened to the point where, on some metrics, Canadian cities are becoming more lawless than the U.S.

Americans are still getting shot and murdered at higher rates than Canadians, but when it comes to theft, carjackings and break-ins, figures show that some Canadian cities are doing worse than their American counterparts.

Sacked police officer: ‘I saved a drowning woman. I feared they’d arrest me for it’

Four months before the arrest that led to his dismissal, Lorne Castle plunged into a freezing river in the middle of the night.

In the centre of the in-flood River Avon a vulnerable elderly woman clung to a small outcrop.

Police regulations dictated he should not enter the water, but Mr Castle ignored the rules to wade into the ice cold torrent, stripped off his stab vest, and began swimming into the current while trying to throw a life ring to the woman as her family watched from the riverbank.

JAY GOLDBERG: Canada Post and illicit drugs: another reason to privatize a failing Crown corporation

There are many reasons to private Canada Post. The fact that cartels use the postal service to help facilitate the contraband drug trade should be one of them.

As Canadian consumers and small businesses are left in limbo about whether mail delivery will once again be interrupted by a strike for a lengthy period, as was the case last November, a new report shows a lesser-known danger of leaving Canada Post with a government-mandated monopoly.

US Supreme Court sides with Ohio woman in ‘reverse discrimination’ case

The US Supreme Court has sided with an Ohio woman who alleged she was discriminated against at her job because she was heterosexual.

The justices voted unanimously in a ruling focused on evidence standards that could make it easier to file similar “reverse discrimination” cases.

Marlean Ames said that despite working for the Ohio Department of Youth Services for more than 20 years, she was denied a promotion and then demoted. She had appealed to the court to challenge the standards required to prove her case.

The decision effectively lowers the burden of proof required for people who are members of a majority group – such as white or heterosexual people – to make discrimination claims.

Alberta is the answer to American energy dominance

In a world increasingly defined by energy affordability, geopolitical instability and economic uncertainty, the United States is once again talking about energy dominance.

President Trump has made it a central pillar of his agenda, vowing to “unleash American energy” to lower prices, strengthen the economy and restore U.S. global leadership. National Energy Dominance Council Chair Doug Burgum echoed that vision recently, arguing that U.S. energy dominance is the “foundation of American prosperity.”
