Former Royal Marine Paul Doyle charged after Liverpool parade crash

An IT professional and former Royal Marine has been charged after a car was driven into a crowd of people celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League title win.

A total of 79 people, including four children, were injured in the incident on Water Street, near the parade route, just after 6pm.

Treasury Board President Shafqat Ali accepted more than $3,100 in sponsored travel from a Muslim advocacy group for a visit to Jerusalem, where he was photographed praying at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and voiced criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza, according to new disclosures filed with the federal Ethics Commissioner.

Blacklock’s Reporter says the January 2024 trip, valued at $3,148, was paid for by Canadian Muslim Vote, a group that also sponsored Liberal MP Salma Zahid and New Democrat MP Heather McPherson.

It’s Obvious That the Obamas Are Hiding Something

The rumors about Barack and Michelle Obama’s marriage won’t go away, and that’s largely because neither of them has bothered to deny them. Despite media portrayals suggesting that Michelle has addressed the speculation, what we keep getting are vague, rehearsed soundbites that avoid saying anything definitive. Her excuse for skipping Trump’s inauguration — that she “had nothing to wear” — was laughable, especially coming from a former first lady with unlimited resources. And her brother’s attempt to vouch for the couple on a podcast only raised more eyebrows.

Why Is No One Worried About a 5-Fold Increase in Terrorism Charges in Canada?

Remember when car thefts were all the rage? News story after news story told us that this form of crime was skyrocketing in Canada: almost doubling in Ontario and Quebec, up by a third in Alberta, and a fifth in Atlantic Canada in 2022. People were flocking to buy newfangled locking mechanisms, and some owners even put retractable steel or concrete bollards in their driveways!

This scourge was indeed worrisome and received significant media coverage, but it has been superseded by another, much more dangerous one that has not been given nearly enough attention: terrorism arrests in Canada.

The government and media play down the threat with the subtext being that you’re a racist for daring to discuss it out loud.

Followed, threatened and smeared — attacks by China against its critics in Canada are on the rise

For Yao Zhang, the news came as a shock.

Sexually explicit, deepfake images of her were circulating widely online — an attack that Ottawa blamed on the Chinese government.

It wasn’t the first time Zhang had been targeted by China. Shortly after the Quebec-based accountant-turned-influencer travelled to Taiwan in January 2024 to support its independence, China’s national police paid a visit to her aunt in Chifeng, in mainland China.

Britain’s plan to deny Russia control of the Arctic

Russia’s 200-metre long floating dock was meant to help Moscow control the Arctic seas.

In service, the vast craft will assist in repairing nuclear-powered ice-breakers, needed to cleave safe passage through the frozen waters around Nato’s northern flank.

But the journey of the craft to its home in the Russian port of Murmansk has been interrupted by British sanctions, the Foreign Office announced on Tuesday.

Golden Dome? ReArm Europe? Canada negotiating military relationships amid trade war, sovereignty concerns

“You can only control what you can control.”

Those were the words from newly minted Defence Minister David McGuinty Wednesday morning on his way into a cabinet meeting after a reporter asked him to respond to U.S. President Donald Trump’s US$61 billion price tag to join the Golden Dome.

“What we can control here now is decisions around strengthening our sovereignty and our security,” he said.

The Golden Dome, a name that plays off Israel’s Iron Dome, is a project Trump told the Pentagon to pursue. It would employ ground- and space-based weapons to destroy missiles mid-flight.

Migrant arrested over letter threatening to assassinate Trump

He is now in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) detention in Wisconsin with deportation proceedings pending, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.

Today’s immigration scam …

Canada sees surge in temporary foreign workers applying to escape abusive employers

The number of temporary foreign workers applying for open work permits to escape abusive employers has jumped more than 800 per cent year over year in Ontario, a surge advocates say highlights a growing crisis of abuse as immigration cuts and economic uncertainty deepen migrant workers’ vulnerability.

To address exploitation, the federal government in 2019 introduced the Vulnerable Worker Open Work Permit, allowing temporary foreign workers — whose status in Canada is tied to a single employer — to leave abusive jobs and apply for an open permit.

To qualify for one of these permits, migrant workers must show evidence of abuse.

You just know this push came from the lawyers.

The terrifying new weapon changing the war in Ukraine

FIBRE OPTIC DRONE

An acrid smell hangs over the town of Rodynske. A couple of minutes after we drive into the city we see where it’s coming from.

A 250kg glide bomb has ripped through the town’s main administrative building, and taken down three residential blocks. We’re visiting a day after the bomb struck, but parts of the wreckage are still smoking. From the edges of the town we hear the sound of artillery fire, and of gunshots – Ukrainian soldiers shooting down drones.

Rodynske is about 15km (9 miles) north of the embattled city of Pokrovsk. Russia has been trying to capture it from the south since the autumn of last year, but Ukrainian forces have so far managed to stop Russian soldiers from marching in.

Liberals allowing 1 million foreign students costly to Canadians: Report

Bank of Canada research shows that the federal Liberals’ decision to allow one million foreign students into the country had a “significant” impact in some employment sectors and cost Canadians job and wages.

The latest study confirmed a 2022 employment department report that foreign labour led to Canadian workers being replaced, per Blacklock’s Reporter.
