Failed asylum seeker can stay in UK – because she joined terror group

Nigerian migrant had case thrown out eight times before succeeding with claim that even judge admitted was not honest

A Nigerian woman who tried and failed eight times to secure asylum in Britain was finally granted the right to stay after joining a terrorist organisation just to boost her claim.

The judge who gave the 49-year-old woman the right to stay acknowledged that she was not being honest about her political beliefs and had become involved in the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) only “in order to create a claim for asylum”.

The woman, who came to the UK in 2011, joined IPOB in 2017. A separatist group that has been blamed for acts of violence against the Nigerian state, it has been banned as a terrorist organisation by Nigeria but is not proscribed in the UK.

Love rats: Canadians get chance to feed rodents named after old flames to owls

Revenge, they say, is a dish best served cold. And for an endangered owl breeding program in Canada, it’s also a dish best served dead.

For the price of a coffee, spurned and disgruntled lovers can revel in the satisfaction of having a dead rat named after an ex, before it is fed to a northern spotted owl.

The British Columbia-based breeder is running its No regRATS campaign ahead of Valentine’s Day, promising a photo and video of one’s rat, named after a former lover – or arch-enemy – and the owl it has been fed to in exchange for at least a C$5 donation.

GOLDSTEIN: Federal Liberals can’t be trusted with the economy

Given their dismal economic record after 10 years in power, it’s hard to comprehend why anyone would trust the federal Liberals to be responsible stewards of the nation’s finances heading into this year’s election.

Indeed, it’s an issue on which Liberal leadership frontrunner (and prime minister-in-waiting) Mark Carney and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre agree.

Hegseth calls Ukraine’s peace goals ‘unrealistic’ in meeting with allies

The U.S. defense secretary said any deal to end the fighting must come with international oversight of the boundary between Russian and Ukrainian forces — and no NATO membership for Kyiv.

BRUSSELS — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Wednesday called Ukraine’s desire to recover all of the territory it has lost to Russia since 2014 an “unrealistic objective,” pledging that the Trump administration will pursue peace negotiations to end the two nations’ war while pointedly shaping them at the outset.

“Chasing this illusionary goal will only prolong the war and cause more pain and suffering,” Hegseth said. Any peace deal, Hegseth added, must come with “robust security guarantees,” international oversight of the boundary between Russian and Ukrainian forces, and no NATO membership for Ukraine — something that would require other countries to defend Ukrainian territory in any future conflict.

The Price of Eggs at CNN

With no real arguments left, the Left is grasping at straws to fuel anti-Trump mania.

FT. WAYNE, Ind. — Sitting here at the bar/restaurant at the Ft. Wayne Hilton, a nice Midwest hotel located across the street from the gorgeous Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, I was forced to do something I don’t usually do. Watch CNN. Some rogue from hotel management decided to hold customers hostage to CNN that evening in this deeply Republican state.

Not that long ago, I frequently watched CNN. It was a reliable, respectable news outlet. Liberal but serious. But sadly, the unfortunate folks at CNN went full Trump Derangement Syndrome circa 2017. The network has never been the same. The bias is so bad and often so downright silly that — akin to reading the awful New York Times — you just shouldn’t bother, for the sake of your mental health.

A Europe that sides with Palestinian Arab terrorists digs its own grave

Georgios Tsibouktzakis was born and raised in the Greek town of Evosmos. The Tsibouktzakis family was poor, so after completing elementary school at age 12, Georgios put his studies aside and took a job in a textile factory.

Young Georgios experienced a religious awakening. After studying at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Georgios decided to go to Israel. Why not? Christianity was born in the land of Israel. The Christian Bible is full of references to Judea (no, there is no mention of “Palestine”). After three years, he became a monk and was given the name Father Germanos. He was ordained a priest and deacon. He was assigned to live at the monastery of St. George, not far from Jerusalem in the Judean desert.
