Trump’s Tariffs: This Stuff Isn’t All That Hard, You Know

Free trade is great, except American trade deals are not “free” trade.

One of the better podcasts out there is Patrick Bet David’s Valuetainment show, which I pick up on YouTube a good bit. And, in a segment on Tuesday, Bet David and his guests spent some time talking about the “trade war” with Canada and Mexico that Donald Trump touched off with his demands for cooperation in fighting the scourge of Chinese fentanyl which has poisoned some quarter of a million Americans to death.

What Is Really Destroying Europe? The EU.

The founding idea of the European Union was to build, through shared prosperity, solidarity and a sense of shared destiny among the nations of Europe. That was why three communities were formed: the economy, coal and steel, and nuclear energy. Until around 2000, in terms of growth and innovation, the European economy, year in, year out, was on par with the American one.

100,000 eggs stolen from one US grocer as bird flu drives up prices

Thieves in the US state of Pennsylvania have stolen more than 100,000 eggs – worth $40,000 (£32,000) – from a single grocer.

The heist targeted the back of a lorry at Pete & Gerry’s Organics in Greencastle on 1 February, police say.

It comes as the price of eggs has risen amid a bird flu epidemic, making them an unexpectedly costly menu option. The national chain Waffle House has just hiked their egg charge.

Liberals try to fool Canadians on home equity tax

While the government bends over backwards promising Canadians it’s not going to introduce a tax on the sale of your home, it’s also been spending your money figuring out how to implement a tax to do just that.

Something doesn’t add up. Why spend money on something you have no intention of following through with? And let’s be clear — the Liberals are spending lots of time and money dreaming up new ways to tax your home.

After MRC Pressure, Newsweek Heavily Modifies ‘Trans’ Murderer Puff-Piece

Feels like a woman

Last week, Newsweek received heavy criticism online for publishing a tone-deaf, sympathetic piece about a convicted rapist and murderer, which conspicuously omitted several of the most gruesome details about his crimes. Yesterday, in response to an inquiry by NewsBusters, the magazine made a number of modifications to that piece, including adding several paragraphs which contained those previously-absent details.

Michael Higgins: Finally, the Liberals start tackling the scourge of fentanyl

U.S. President Donald Trump seems to delight in chaos and disruption. Is the threatened tariff war over border security? Drug smuggling? NATO spending? A precursor to trade negotiations? All, or none, of the above?

Yet, as with virtually every crisis, there is also opportunity. In this case, an opportunity for Canada to examine some of these issues and see if we can do better. Not to please Trump, but to ensure that the government is doing what it should to protect its citizens and the country.

New wrongful conviction review body could see hundreds of applications

OTTAWA – A new independent commission tasked by the federal government with reviewing miscarriages of justice could discover that more people than expected are serving prison sentences for crimes they didn’t commit.

Other countries that launched similar commissions have found that “the degree of wrongful convictions certainly was much more significant than they knew,” said Sen. Kim Pate, a prominent advocate for the wrongfully convicted.

“I suspect we will see much the same.”

USAID Checkbook Snaps Shut, Politico misses payroll

The USAID scandal just keeps rolling.

It appears that Politico couldn’t meet payroll thanks to DOGE.

An update to the story indicates Politico was on the public teat for about 34 million in total.

The NYTimes’ primary function isn’t journalism. It’s narrative coordination

I opened my NYTimes app today. They’re trying, but they can’t keep up. News that broke just hours ago is already off the homepage.

THIS IS CRUCIAL

The entire liberal deep state command and control system is broken. Let me explain.

Canada needs a DOGE.

Denmark Rethinks Greenland Defense After U.S. Pressure

Trump’s stance is less about territorial ambitions and more about pushing Europe to take responsibility for key regions threatened by Russian and Chinese expansion.

Denmark is adjusting its strategic position on Greenland as U.S. President Donald Trump intensifies pressure on Europe to bolster its defense capabilities, particularly in the Arctic.

While the possibility of the U.S. taking control of Greenland has dominated headlines in recent weeks, Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen’s response reveals a more profound reality: Trump’s stance is less about territorial ambitions and more about pushing Europe to take responsibility for key regions threatened by Russian and Chinese expansion.

Canada has less than 30 days to satisfy Donald Trump’s border demands. Here’s what it plans to do

OTTAWA — The clock is ticking.

Canada now has less than 30 days to convince U.S. President Donald Trump not to trigger a trade war that could devastate the Canadian economy.

Key to that effort will be showing progress on $1.5 billion worth of border security measures Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised Trump in an effort to secure a temporary reprieve from U.S. tariffs.

The Democrats Are Hogging the Wilderness

The Democrat Party’s selection of Ken Martin and David Hogg as their new leaders prove that they haven’t learned anything and still need to spend time in wilderness timeout before trying to be relevant again.

In case you didn’t pay attention, and you’re completely excused if you didn’t, the Democrats had an election over the weekend to choose a new party chair.

It’s someone named Ken Martin, and he’s been the chairman of the state party in Minnesota — where Democrat politics produced Tim Walz, Ilhan Omar, and Keith Ellison when it wasn’t treating the police like Bane did in Gotham and opening the windows to enjoy the smell of burning cities.
