‘One of the Most Hated People in the World’: Sam Bankman-Fried’s 250 Pages of Justifications

The FTX founder wrote hundreds of pages of reflections and self-justifications while under house arrest, shedding light on how he may defend himself at his criminal trial next month.

At the end of a 15,000-word Twitter thread he never posted, Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the failed cryptocurrency exchange FTX, offered a blunt assessment of his predicament.

“I’m broke and wearing an ankle monitor and one of the most hated people in the world,” he wrote. “There will probably never be anything I can do to make my lifetime impact net positive.”

He added: “And the truth is that I did what I thought was right.”

Goin away for a long time…

Or will he be pardoned after a short stint?

In Risky Hunt for Secrets, U.S. and China Expand Global Spy Operations

As China’s spy balloon drifted across the continental United States in February, American intelligence agencies learned that President Xi Jinping of China had become enraged with senior Chinese military generals.

The spy agencies had been trying to understand what Mr. Xi knew and what actions he would take as the balloon, originally aimed at U.S. military bases in Guam and Hawaii, was blown off course.

Mr. Xi was not opposed to risky spying operations against the United States, but American intelligence agencies concluded that the People’s Liberation Army had kept Mr. Xi in the dark until the balloon was over the United States.

NBC’s Welker Attempts to Fact Check Trump Live, Fails Miserably

Newly-minted Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker was off to a poor start during her first day at the helm Sunday when during her exclusive interview with former President Donald Trump she became the latest member of the leftist media to deny Democrats support for killing babies in the womb in the 8th or 9th month of pregnancy. The fact that it’s in the 2020 Democrat Party platform doesn’t seem to matter to leftists like Welker.

Lauren Boebert and Her Date Grope Each Other, and Just Like That, the Left is Against ‘Lewd Sex Acts’ in Public

The left has been crowing about an incident involving Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Col.) that seems to be the gift that keeps on giving. Boebert was ejected from a performance of “Beetlejuice” in Denver, and the reasons why keep growing: first she was reported to have been talking too loudly, singing along with musical numbers, and taking pictures. Then we heard that she was vaping. Finally, video emerged of Boebert and her date groping each other, presumably in full view of those who were seated nearby. And just like that, the left is against lewd acts in public. The party of drag queens in primary schools has suddenly become the party of Victorian prudery.

A Toronto landlord is banning electric vehicles on its property. Tenants’ advocates say that’s ‘unreasonable’

Tenants’ rights advocates are raising legal concerns about a Toronto building complex that’s banning electric transportation vehicles from the property, including in units, the garage, parking spaces and lockers.

Notices were posted this week at 110 and 120 Jameson Avenue in Parkdale, owned by Oberon Development Corporation, to alert tenants to the ban.

According to the notice, electric vehicles are not permitted anywhere on the property. Electric bikes and motorbikes, hoverboards, mopeds, segways and skateboard scooters are also part of the ban.

They are a fire hazard.

Mayors say housing crisis is ‘dire,’ ‘desperate.’ Is Ottawa doing enough?

The mayors of two of Canada’s rapidly-growing cities say the housing crises their residents are facing is “desperate” and “dire,” and are encouraging all levels of government to work together to solve them as quickly as possible.

In a joint interview with Mercedes Stephenson that aired Sunday on The West Block, Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek and London, Ont., Mayor Josh Morgan said they are welcoming federal funding programs dedicated to the building of new housing units, but added more needs to be done to turn things around.

There is no quick fix, even if Trudeau had the intelligence to close the immigration floodgates today he has dug a hole so deep it will take years for Canadians to crawl out of it.

Trudeau is a cruel and stupid person who callously inflicted this mess on Canadians.

Germany: Dozens injured in unrest at Eritrean event

Police in the southwestern German city of Stuttgart on Sunday said dozens of people, including at least 26 officers were injured amid unrest surrounding an Eritrean cultural festival.

Along with 26 officers, four people participating in the event and two protesting it were injured, police said in a statement. Six of the injured officers were being treated at the hospital.

The clash was the latest in a string of incidents at such events in Germany and elsewhere, with fights breaking out between Eritrean government supporters and opponents.

Translation: Stuttgart. Riots broke out at an Eritrean event on Saturday afternoon. Several hundred Africans attacked participants and police officers with stones, bottles and boards. 10 officers were injured.

China’s ‘CEO Whisperers’: Chinese Communist Party Takes Over Canada

“When I look… at the subtle but intense influence of China on Canadian institutions — parliaments, provincial governments, local governments, universities, the intellectual community, the policy community — it makes me deadly worried,” said Australian professor Clive Hamilton, author of Hidden Hand: Exposing How the Chinese Communist Party is Reshaping the World (co-authored by Mareike Ohlberg), speaking to Canada’s National Post in 2019. “I’ve met some very well-informed Canadians who aren’t sure Canada will be able to extricate itself from this situation.”

Police urge victims to come forward as Russell Brand is accused of rape – and grooming a girl of 16

Comedian Russell Brand was last night accused of raping a businesswoman and grooming a 16-year-old schoolgirl for sex.

In a string of bombshell allegations, the 48-year-old star was accused of sexual assaults and abusive and predatory behaviour between 2006 and 2013, when he was at the height of his fame.

Four women alleged they were assaulted by Brand, one of whom had previously told The Mail on Sunday of his ‘controlling and manipulative’ behaviour.

Despite plunging popularity Junior doubles down on stupid

His poll numbers are plunging. His MPs are griping. But Justin Trudeau isn’t changing course

“Better than expected” isn’t exactly a phrase that has followed Justin Trudeau around this summer.

So perhaps it is remarkable that the prime minister walked out of his Liberal caucus retreat this week with everyone talking about an “honest” conversation that went better than expected, by most accounts.

The good news is that both the public and many in the media are on the same page. Junior is being ignored at best and more often simply laughed at.

Is this Ukrainian nuclear plant on brink of Fukushima-style disaster?

The chance of a serious disaster at the Russian-occupied nuclear power plant in Ukraine has risen to one in five, a leading engineer at the Soviet-era facility has warned.

A recent exodus of top staff and the power station’s use as a military base by Chechen troops are among the reasons why a “Fukushima scenario” could happen at any time, according to one of the ten most senior engineers at the plant near Zaporizhzhia, which had a prewar workforce of 11,000.

The shortage of expertise is so acute that janitors, secretaries and “blue-collar” workers are posing as engineers in lab coats to dupe international observers into believing that the Russians have the necessary staff to avert disaster, according to sources with knowledge of conditions inside the facility.

Trudeau Takes Aim at Corporate Canada as Inflation Sinks His Popularity

… “Most people just don’t trust food companies,” said Sylvain Charlebois, a food professor at Dalhousie University, who will take part in Monday’s meeting. “According to one of our recent surveys, 82% of Canadians believe that greed is behind higher food prices.”

The government said there have been situations where large grocers got together “to prevent smaller competitors from establishing operations nearby,” without giving specifics. A Competition Bureau report in June found that independent grocers struggle to find real estate. It also said consolidation makes it tougher for new stores to stay in business and that many independent grocers are forced to buy products from their competitors.

A plague on both their houses. Justin is spewing hot air just to look like he’s doing something and the Grocery Barons deserve contempt. Stealing bread from the mouths of children for 14 years without jail time says it all about Canada’s Crony Capitalist economy.
