You can’t make this up. The paradoxes of living with Islam in the once-democratic UK of 2023 bring Orwell’s 1984′ to life.
In 1984 Soviet dissident Gunnars Astra was sentenced to twelve years’ imprisonment for possessing, among others, a copy of “1984” by George Orwell. In contemporary society, where everything seems to move incessantly towards progress, rights and freedom for all, it is difficult to grasp the paradoxes of the new 1984. We need a clear mind and intellectual courage.

Political correctness has fuelled the sexual exploitation of children, Rishi Sunak will say as he announces a plan to stamp out “evil” grooming gangs.
The prime minister will form a task force led by the National Crime Agency, with data analysis used to help the police to “identify the types of criminals who carry out these offences”.
Being involved in a grooming gang will become an aggravating factor during sentencing, and adults working with children will have a mandatory duty to report any suspicions that a child is being abused.

The net zero ‘debate’ has revealed a stunning shift in the basic assumptions that underpin Left-wing political thinking
We are living through the most startling political realignment in more than 100 years. Never since the advent of modern socialism in the early 20th century has the Left openly advocated making ordinary people poorer, thereby leaving those on the Right to defend the spread of mass prosperity. The debate (if this tendentious chorus of unanimity can be called a debate) on net zero has entirely shifted the ground on which modern political discourse has been based.

The detention of Darya Trepova for the murder of Russian pro-war blogger Vladlen Tatarsky has raised questions about the young woman’s background and politics.
Russia media reports say Ms Trepova, 26, handed Tatarsky a statuette which was believed to contain the explosives that killed him and injured more than 30 people. Later in a video released by the Russian Interior Ministry, she is seen admitting she brought the statuette to the cafe where the blast took place.
However, her statement was most likely obtained under duress, and she does not say whether she knew about the explosives.

The indictment of former President Donald Trump is just the latest maneuver by many in the United States to distort elections.
The indictment will not be known until tomorrow, but according to the American media, the former president is accused of making fraudulent payments to a porn star with whom Trump denies having had sexual relations. According to the claims of his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, who went to prison for “lying to the Internal Revue Services about the taxes he owed, lying to financial institutions and lying to Congress,” Trump is accused of making the payments with funds from his 2016 presidential campaign, which is prohibited. But Trump did not use campaign funds, which would actually have been a serious violation of campaign laws. Trump used his personal money — to pay Cohen.

It took the US consulate seven minutes to reject Nabil Ahmed Shabbir’s visa application.
Shabbir, a British Shia scholar, had applied for his US visa to assist with the birth of his first child. His wife, an American Shia Muslim, wanted to have the birth in the US.
Shabbir hadn’t even left the embassy gate after handing in his visa application when he got a text message saying it had been rejected.

The Washington Post, as of Monday morning, has four articles on its website about the child pornography arrest of Patrick Wojahn, the mayor of College Park, Maryland. Wojahn resigned in disgrace last month.
Read every one of those stories, and you will not learn that he is a Democrat and a longtime activist for gay rights and abortion.

One of the most cited scientists in the world, the Spanish chemist Rafael Luque, has been suspended without pay for the next 13 years, according to Luque himself and the institution where he worked until recently, the University of Córdoba in Spain. The university has sanctioned Luque for working as a researcher at other centers, such as the King Saud University in Riyadh and the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in Moscow, despite holding a full-time publicly funded contract with the Spanish institution.

The Virginia teacher shot by a 6-year-old student filed a $40 million lawsuit on Monday, accusing school officials of repeatedly ignoring warnings that the disturbed youngster had a gun.
Abigail Zwerner, 25, filed the suit nearly three months after she was shot while teaching at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News by a first-grader with “a history of random violence,” according to the lawsuit.
I am a little surprised that we don’t see this type of suit in the news more often given the horrid state of many US public school systems.

Weekend knife attack on B.C. bus was ISIS terrorism, RCMP alleges
An attack on a transit bus in Surrey, B.C. over the weekend is being treated as terrorism after RCMP national security police took over the investigation.
Abdul Aziz Kawam was initially charged with attempted murder for allegedly slashing a bus passenger’s throat on Saturday morning, but prosecutors added four counts of terrorism on Monday.

Australia becoming a republic and scrapping the monarchy is “inevitable” even though Australians are proud to have the King as their head of state, the country’s new high commissioner has said.
In his first interview since moving to London, Stephen Smith said most British people would be “indifferent” to Australia getting rid of the monarchy and said it would not damage the countries’ relationship.
Dementia Joe has declined an invite to the coronation.
I have heard it’s because Joe simply does not travel well any longer but might it also reveal a decline in the importance of the Royals?
A number of “name” acts have declined offers to perform. Perhaps Charles is seen as the transition until William and Kate can revitalize the family business.

OTTAWA – A national civil liberties group is set to argue that “nebulous or strained claims” about economic instability or general unrest weren’t enough to legally justify the Liberal government’s use of the Emergencies Act early last year.
The Canadian Civil Liberties Association is among the groups and individuals appearing in Federal Court today to argue Ottawa lacked sound statutory grounds to use the emergencies law and associated measures to quell protests that paralyzed the national capital and key border points.

Survivors of the Manchester Arena terror attack are suing a conspiracy theorist who claims the bombing was a hoax in a landmark legal case.
Richard D Hall is being sued for defamation and harassment by Martin and Eve Hibbert, a father and daughter who were left with severe disabilities after the 2017 attack, which left 22 people dead.
