Alec Baldwin has been criticized on social media after reposting a message about gun control – after his own fatal shooting on the set of movie Rust.
The actor, who has been charged following the death of Halyna Hutchins, posted on social media following the mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, where six people lost their lives.
The post, written on Twitter by rocker Peter Frampton, read: ’26 years ago, a gunman entered Dunblane Primary School in Scotland, killing 16 kids and a teacher. The UK govt responded by enacting tight gun control legislation.
Russia’s security and intelligence services have achieved greater success in Ukraine than its army, says a leading UK defence think tank.
Russian spy agencies began preparing for the invasion of Ukraine as far back as June 2021, says a report by the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi).
The Federal Security Service (FSB) has quickly dominated populations in occupied areas of Ukraine, Rusi adds.
The report was compiled using sources including captured documents, it says.
If anybody was hoping the federal budget would show signs of spending restraint, those hopes were dashed on March 28. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh’s immediate and enthusiastic support for Chrystia Freeland’s third budget as finance minister indicates just how high-spending it is.
I try to bring humor to everything. I’m a comedian. As my wonderful friend and mentor Stephen Kruiser can tell you, comics find humor in the worst of conditions. Not only can I not see the “funny” in the Tennessee shooting, I don’t want to seek it.
It’s quite remarkable: What is in the best interests of students in Ontario coincides exactly with what will make the teachers’ unions richer, more powerful and less accountable. I learned of this remarkable coincidence last week while commuting in the Toronto subway, where the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA), a union of over 45,000 teachers, is currently running an ad campaign. By happy synchronicity, everything the union says will improve students’ learning and well-being benefits the union, too.
Someone is going to have to bust the public service unions one day.
King Charles will this week become the first British monarch to lay a wreath to the German victims of allied air raids in the second world war.
The move is a departure from his mother’s handling of the historically sensitive subject on previous royal visits to the country.
At the end of his first state visit as monarch, Charles III is scheduled on Friday to visit Hamburg’s St Nikolai memorial, a 12th-century church severely damaged during Operation Gomorrah in July 1943 and since preserved in its ruined state to commemorate its victims.
Han Dong has made his position very clear: the former Liberal MP says he never told a Chinese diplomat to put off releasing two imprisoned Canadians to avoid helping the Conservatives. And he announced Monday he’s already hired a lawyer to sue the news outlet that reported the alleged conversation.
The Manhattan grand jury that’s hearing evidence against former President Trump in the Stormy Daniels “hush money” case plans to recess for a month, The Post has learned.
The break, which will cover the city school system’s weeklong Spring Recess next month, was pre-planned, according to a source familiar with the matter.
It will also push back any potential indictment of Trump, 76, in connection with the $130,000 that his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid Daniels shortly before the 2016 presidential election to keep her quiet about an alleged affair with Trump in 2006.
Chinese Canadians in public office and academia are warning the recent claims China interfered in Canadian politics could stigmatize an entire community and dissuade them from running for public office or taking on public-facing roles.
“There is a lot of fear,” said Keren Tang, a city councillor in Edmonton.
Tang and others in the Chinese community are worried racism resulting from the federal investigations into the alleged Chinese government interference could roll back years of progress of getting more diverse voices in all levels of government.
Just the CBC running interference for Trudeau and his ChiCom allies.
The United States has a limited ability to ensure the billions in weapons sent to Ukraine stays out of the wrong hands, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley told Congress on Tuesday.
The Pentagon has previously acknowledged the difficulty of guaranteeing the final destination of more than $30 billion in weapons aid delivered so far to Ukraine. An ability to maintain only a small contingent of non-combat personnel dedicated to oversight at the embassy in Kyiv means it relies mostly on Ukrainian soldiers to inspect aid at destinations closer to the front lines and upload photos of weapons to a secure software for confirmation
Any strong words Trudeau may mouth about China are to be taken with a very large grain of salt.
Most Canadians have no idea where the country’s spy agency is located, nor do they know much about its daily operations. This is not because the Canadian Security Intelligence Service operates in a particularly clandestine fashion, it’s because most Canadians don’t care.
The CSIS, a civilian-run organisation based in a triangular structure of concrete and glass on the outskirts of Ottawa, lacks the intrigue of Britain’s MI5 and the notoriety of America’s Central Intelligence Agency.
“I look nothing like Daniel Craig, and I did not arrive here in an Aston Martin. I’m just as disappointed as you are – on both fronts,” its director, David Vigneault, said in a speech in 2018, poking fun at the service’s largely uncharismatic reputation. “Most of you remember the movie Fight Club. And you will know that the first rule of Fight Club is ‘don’t talk about Fight Club’. Well, the first rule of CSIS has always been ‘don’t talk’. Period.”
During the SNC Lavalin Scandal Katie Telford is said to have told Jody Wilson-Raybould’s chief of staff that she could arrange for her connections to ‘Write op-eds saying that what she is doing is proper.’This piece fits the bill for narrative control.
I don’t know of anyone who thinks ill of CSIS for these leaks, other than the CCP compromised Liberal Party. In fact most of us are grateful for having this criminal chicanery exposed.
The most arresting chart in last year’s budget was the one showing projected economic growth rates in the member countries of the OECD over the next 40 years. In last place: Canada.
At last, we all thought: the Trudeau government had belatedly recognized Canada has a growth problem. Having fixated almost exclusively throughout its first seven years on redistributing income, perhaps it had now been persuaded of the importance of making some. True, Budget 2022 offered little in the way of new ideas to that end, but give it time. Rome wasn’t rethought in a day.
Trudeau and Freeland up the ante on a clean economy
Justin Trudeau’s basic argument is that Canada and the world face both historic challenges and unique opportunities — and the Liberals are better suited than the Conservatives to overcoming those challenges and seizing those opportunities.
Mind you, the two parties don’t entirely agree on which issues are most deserving of attention right now. But there is no bigger challenge than climate change and the transition to a low-carbon future it requires. And Tuesday’s federal budget — described by the Canadian Climate Institute as “the most consequential budget in recent history for accelerating clean growth in Canada” — could be a pivotal piece of the Liberal response.
A radical transgender activist group has claimed that the Nashville school shooter was driven to murder six people by an ‘avalanche’ of anti-trans policies and sentiment, adding: ‘Hate has consequences’.
The Trans Resistance Network, a fringe group whose tweets are protected except for their 3,300 followers, issued a statement on Tuesday in the wake of the shooting.
Audrey Hale, a 28-year-old former student at Covenant School, wrote a ‘manifesto’ before attacking the private Christian academy on Monday morning. She was killed by police within 15 minutes.
Press secretary for Arizona Dem Governor Katie Hobbs is slammed for saying she wants to SHOOT transphobes, hours after trans killer massacred three children, two teachers and custodian at Nashville school
