Liberal Party will toss the leftovers their pets usually get to the poor in new budget

Tuesday’s budget to include grocery rebate for lower income Canadians: source

The federal budget, set for Tuesday, will include a grocery rebate measure aimed at lower income Canadians to help address the affordability crisis, particularly to mitigate the rising cost of food, CBC News has learned.

A senior government official familiar with the budget, but not authorized to speak publicly before the budget is rolled out, told CBC News that the overall cost of the measure is “north of $2 billion” and will benefit 11 million households. It will be facilitated through the GST credit, aimed at lower income families.

When your citizens can no longer afford basic groceries because they’ve been impoverished by your bad policies you’ve forfeited the right to govern.

Commercial Real Estate Faces Perfect Storm: The Demise of Downtown Office Buildings

In the mid-1970s I was a struggling business and economics student. I paid for my tuition and personal expenses with physically demanding summer and part-time jobs and some student debt.

I dreamed of one day working on Canada’s version of Wall Street, which was located in Toronto at the corner of King and Bay streets. That dream came true in the spring of 1980 when the Dominion Bond Rating Service hired me as a junior analyst. Four of the five big Canadian banks occupied the corners of King and Bay in their impressive skyscrapers. A block away were the golden towers of Canada’s largest financial institution, the Royal Bank of Canada. A book published in 1982 was named “Towers of Gold, Feet of Clay,” a reference to the fact the two RBC towers literally have a thin layer of gold coating their windows.

This does not bode well for Toronto.

I recall visiting Seattle with Kathy.

At the ‘Stroke of 5 PM’ the downtown was emptied and virtually abandoned.

Soon the street people made an appearance.

We headed back to our hotel.

UK: PC Hussain Chehab, MET Safer Schools officer jailed over string of ‘ghastly’ child sex offences

A paedophile Metropolitan Police Safer Schools officer has been jailed for five years over a string of child sex offences including having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

PC Hussain Chehab, 22, was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday for four counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15 and offences linked to indecent images of children.

The sexual activity offences took place between March and September 2019, before Chehab joined the Metropolitan Police the following year.

I’m guessin equity hire.

LILLEY: Deal to close Roxham Rd was signed a year before taking effect

Between when the Trudeau government signed the agreement to amend the Safe Third Country agreement, and when it came into force, more than 41,000 people crossed illegally into Canada at Roxham Rd.

After we add in the numbers for March, expect the final tally to be over 45,000 or the equivalent of adding the population of Chatham, Ont., via what the government calls “irregular migration.”

Navratilova: Trans ban means the ‘world is finally waking up’

The news that World Athletics has excluded transgender women from competing in the female category at international events is certainly a step in the right direction.

I have long been vocal on this matter, as I have educated myself on what the realities are for trans women competing against biological females.

The Women’s Sport Policy Working Group, of which I am a member, has looked at how best to include trans women and girls in sport without creating a disadvantage to females by forcing them to compete against trans athletes who have advantages associated with being born male.

Victims of black crime matter, too

Two black teenagers brutally attacked an Asian mother of three, causing severe physical damage. Once the news finally picked up on her story, generous Americans donated more than $300,000 to a fund for her medical care. However, most victims of black crime are blacks, and few benefit from a GoFundMe. Worse, none benefit from the tens of millions of dollars that Black Lives Matter collected. That needs to change.

Don’t blame conservatives for the culture wars

Activists have been quietly promoting progressive issues for decades

Conservatives are losing the culture war and it’s because they are being divisive, argues John Burn-Murdoch in an interesting FT piece today.

The underlying message seems to be that conservative parties should go with the radical progressive flow in order to woo the next generation of voters, even if that means ushering in a wholesale change to the culture that most voters don’t want. This is a classic of the ‘it’s inevitable, so submit’ progressive neoliberal genre, which is deeply misleading.

Ten Reasons Why Reparations for Blacks is a Bad Idea for Blacks

And racist too.

Over the past couple of years, the Reparations movement has gained tremendous momentum in California. The California Reparations Task Force, which was created by the state legislature in 2020, is considering a proposal to give just under $360,000 per person to approximately 1.8 million Black Californians who had an ancestor enslaved in the U.S. Of course California was admitted as a Free State in 1850 and never had slaves, which makes this seem more of a racial extortion racket than compensation.

Theologian Thunberg and the pseudo-religion

Imagine that: it seems that Greta Thunberg is now a top theologian…? Yes, I realise that honorary degrees are usually not worth the paper they are printed on, but in what has to be the joke of the decade, climate change activist (and some may say, alarmist) Greta Thunberg has been awarded an honorary doctorate in theology from the Theology Faculty at the University of Helsinki.

‘Woke’ US schools scarier than North Korea, says defector

Author Yeonmi Park, who fled being a sex slave in North Korea, slams cancel culture at America’s Ivy League universities

The curriculum taught in US schools is as frightening as the teachings of North Korea, a defector of the dictatorship has said.

Yeonmi Park, 29, who fled the hermit state as a young teenager in 2007, became a US citizen last year. She said she was “embarrassed” to study human rights in America.

Her memoir, In Order To Live, detailing her perilous journey to freedom, gained her an international platform as a human rights activist.

Can Israel Survive?

It has never been easy for Israel — the understatement of the century — from the moment of its establishment in 1948, when it was invaded by five Arab armies, to the present day, when it is facing multiple threats to its very survival. It suffers a history like no other nation in the world, surrounded by enemies, fighting wars on every front, infiltrated by terrorists, confronting the wetware dreams of genocidal regimes, in particular the prospect of a nuclear Iran sworn to the country’s annihilation, and subject to an international delegitimation campaign carried out via the United Nations, the World Council of Churches, spurious NGOs and “peace” organizations, labor unions, university campuses, and a hostile European Union.

Protester critical and French police hurt in ‘horrifying violence’

A demonstrator is fighting for his life after an environmental protest ended in “scenes of horror” when police fought activists using petrol bombs, axes, metal spikes and other weapons.

The 30-year-old man suffered a head injury, adding to tensions over claims of police brutality during protests against President Macron’s pension reforms.
